I have been running the Android O preview on my Pixel XL. So far so good. A couple app crashes but that is to be expected but it is pretty smooth for a beta.
Yeah they should have a 64GB model.....anymore 32GB is just a little tight with no SD card.

How are the dots and pop-up notifications from the long press? It's demonstrated right at the start of this Verge video:

The pop up notifications are great for some apps like Keep. But not too useful for others. But it's still beta.
The dot are pretty small to be honest. Then they are a nice pastel blue color. In my opinion they need to be red as the blue is easy to miss.

Can you turn the dots off if you don't want any?

I dislike badges personally.

You have control per app for the badge notification and sounds :)
I wish it would show the number of notifications. Now it just shows a dot and not a number to show how many notifications for the app.

Just use TeslaUnread.

Just use TeslaUnread.
That is what I usually use on stock Android. But Google is taking a step in right direction and this is still in beta so it could change. I mean look...they finally added a battery percentage! :)

I'm debating going back to stock as some things like MMS don't work. But there are some really cool features in O.

How interesting.
I hated the lack of notification badges on my Pixel. Was crying out for them!
I love that they've put them on now. :)

Ok, so I've had the Pixel XL for 24 hours now and have some initial impressions to share. I won't get into all the virtues of the XL as they're all well-documented and have been discussed ad nauseam.

Over the past 3-4 years I've had every iteration of the iPhone and I've had the HTC m7, m8, m9, 10, Galaxy s3, s6, s7, LG G4, Sony Compact 1 & 3, OnePlus X, and the Moto X 2013 & 2014. Needless to say, I've experienced a lot of what Android has to offer alongside the iOS world. The XL is the best android experience I've had since the original Moto X. I loved the Moto X when it came out. Smooth performance, amoled, ergonomic. It was a phone with character. Ultimately the battery life and camera left me wanting more and I moved on from it. But that's always been my favorite Android phone. It was more than the sum of its parts.

Fast forward to the XL, and in the first 24 hours, I'm having similar feelings about it as I did that X back in 2013. It's a smooth, ergonomic, and character-filled phone. But this time the camera is amazing and battery life is top notch. I genuinely haven't been this excited about an android phone since the original X. I'll report back in a few more days as things settle in and we'll see if this budding joy blossoms into something long lasting.

Does Tesla unread work without Nova?

I went through the same dilemma with the regular iPhone 7 and regular Pixel back in December!
Good luck with your decision!
Thanks. iMessage and FaceTime are the only things that I miss. Also, my wife uses a 7+ and takes lots of good pics of our kids. iMessage and Airdrop are easy ways to share those with me. Other than email, not sure how to do that between 7+ and XL. She's not tech savvy enough to do something very complex.

Again I had the same issue.. my wife has an iPhone 7.
We use Google Allo for iMessage replacement and Google Duo as FaceTime replacement.. they both work well.
Only thing we don't have a complete solution for is Airdrop but then we share a OneDrive account that solves sharing issues!
Hope that helps.

No problem mate.
I had to come up with a workable solution for the wife to let me switch back to Android last year. Haha.
Also Google Photos is a good place to backup and share photos. It's unlimited, free and cross platform!
Checking out Allo now. Seems pretty cool. If I use Allo then can I disable the default message app?
