Wasn't it free with your preorder?
I didn't pre-order, just walked in to a multi-carrier store here in the UK and did a contract upgrade.

Not sure if that was that or because it's not on offer over here.

The only offer I've seen on Google's UK site is 3 months of Play Music which I got in the box of my XL.

I'm thinking it's country specific - the amount of freebies you guys get makes me envious! Samsung, especially, seem to throw all kinds of goodies at you whereas we get next to nothing. Wouldn't surprise me if Google are doing similar in the US and UK.

I believe Google is offering a free Daydream headset with preorders here in the States. That may be over now since the launch. There's not much else.

Indeed, I got a ton of goodies from Samsung/Tmobile with my S7E upgrade. Can you imagine what the incentives will be for the S8 as Samsung tries to win back people's trust?

I picked up a Black XL from CPW today, it was an upgrade, also got a free car holder (that I won't use) and a £50 gift card for use in PC world/CPW. First impressions are very favourable, I upgraded from a Motorola Nexus 6 which I traded in at CPW and got £110 which is what I would have got at Mazuma. With the trade in and gift card it cost me a total of £19, my contract went up by 3 quid a month. I'm really pleased.

You guys are making me jealous--my preorder from the Google Store is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. :D

And YOU are making ME jealous since, now that I have the money to order a Pixel, the model that I want is sold out on the Google store!! Yeargh!

You are all making me jealous where a trip to CPW here results in nothing ...

A visit to store.google.com results in nothing ...

Curse you all :p
YOU UNDERSTAND!

I will say it's a nice phone but don't get the Google case, here it's 29 Euro and it's not really worth it but now that I have it *shrug*

I will say that it's not all that much faster than my N6 running Pure Nexus but the finger print scanner is love

Did you try using tunnel bear? I live in Ireland and used tunnel bear, a revolut card and parcel motel and it worked a treat.

Yeah the cases are typically overpriced. Think I'm just gonna go with a Spigen until some nicer ones appear.

And unused space is wasted space. And you've got plenty of it on that unicorn!

I will say Google photos is pretty nice across multiple devices and platforms. Never really used it before as I have an Office 365 sub that comes with loads of OneDrive storage which I've been using to backup.

Tip: it seems that uploading ANY pictures FROM the Pixel means they don't count against your quota. I'm using mine to upload photos from my archive without increasing the used space.

Oh it's gonna be party time for US Samsung customers in a few months.

Just noticed the Google support line here isn't 24/7 either, not that it bothers me. I guess there are less of us.

Lol. Yeah well my relative is off to the UK this coming weekend. So by Tuesday when they are back, I may have a black pixel ;) (depending if they get to a Dixons/CarphoneWarehouse)

Yeah you say that as you saunter through the paradise you live in, uploading all those beautiful pictures. You have to suffer with the rest of us if you want a new phone!!!

I'm actually having major second thoughts on my Pixel order. Luckily it's not shipping til mid-November so I can still cancel.

Really unhappy that I have to fork over $815 dollars (after taxes) for a premium device that's missing what I think are important features. And worse, knowing the Pixel 2 will get it right next year means I'm spending this money for a device I'll probably only use a year.

Not just that, but the S8 will also close the gap on the software advantage that the Pixel currently enjoys (minus the prompt update to Android O) without having to sacrifice key hardware features.

Damn you, Google, for forcing me to choose like this. I'm really considering canceling my preorder.

Don't let it piss you off more that it costs Google $285 to make that phone: https://www.cnet.com/news/google-pixel-xl-costs-278-to-make/? Although I don't believe that includes R&D, marketing, etc, but even with that I'll bet they are making a tidy profit. Not that I particularly am bothered by the profit, but I am kind of bothered that they will make a boatload of money off of my information. It feels like they are double dipping.

You can always wait for a sale too. I think you have a point with the double dipping. The bigger problem for me is I want official updates for as long as apple does for iPhones. However the photos arrangement has value too.. Im afraid to buy gen1 of any product but that's a personal thing. Depends how bad you need a phone upgrade too :p

Really torn...

As I've said before, both sides have legitimate arguments for their position. I've never been so on the fence before about a new device.

Probably means I should stick with the s7 if I'm this unsure...

Yeah I think I'm falling into the old getting sucked into launch hype / frenzy aided by the 'you want what you can't have' syndrome. It's what drove me to order the N7 when I said I wouldn't, and you think I would have learned by that to maybe not rush in when I don't need to.
