Disappointed 3D Touch has gone, did use it a lot to preview things like WhatsApp messages etc without loading the message, notifications in folders and moving text bar anywhere from on the keyboard

But its gone, nothing can be done and it won’t be coming back sadly

3D Touch on the Xs running iOS 13 isn’t great. Hopefully the experience on the new phones with Haptic Touch will be improved.

That’s Apples fault it won’t be coming back. They didn’t execute the marketing properly for consumers to understand it’s core benefits and how it could be used to shortcut applications, peak/pop for emails/messages, etc. It was a great feature, for those who actually understood how to use it, but most did not.

Thank goodness...I could never get into 3D Touch. Peek, pop, etc. Dumb.

Just give me haptic, 5 hours more battery life and a super-wide camera. Sounds like a good trade, haha!!

What happens if you turn off 3D Touch and try and use haptic touch instead? Does that change at all?

I’m so tempted to install 13.1 on my Xs to get ready to lose 3D Touch since I absolutely love it and use it consistently but don’t want to get stuck having to install the beta on the new 11 as well.

I thought they might keep it on the Pro though. We’re paying enough for it.

However it’s obviously not in the grand plan to keep 3D Touch going and Haptic Touch is the way forward.

My X is working so brilliantly that I’m going to hold off for a Pro S
But I doubt 3D Touch will be resurrected on the future S model, or indeed ever.

Anyone whose mind runs to such things as we in the UK sometimes do when we try to form words and names from the numbers and letters on our car registration plates.
Pro 11 might be read as Proll which means “to plunder”, or “to rob”
So, we could say we’ve been robbed of 3D Touch this week.

It’s highly possible that I was more in awe of the technology behind 3D Touch than the service it provided.
And then I think that it’s these awesome features that makes an iPhone an iPhone.

Best

I totally understand why Apple eliminated 3D Touch, it consumes space for the battery, and Tim Cook mentioned it was difficult to manufacture from the first place when the iPhone 6s Keynote debuted in 2015. And now Haptic touch is expanding from when it first was introduced last year. But, for those who actually understood 3D Touch and knew how to use it, it was very useful. The good news still if somebody wants 3D touch, the iPhone XS is still a great option, or even the iPhone 8.

I still don't quite follow the whole battery space aspect. I'm not really certain that 3D Touch took up that much space given that the main part relating to it was an extra screen layer essentially.

There was no 3D Touch before on iPhones. People will adapt and move on and get over it.
There weren't a lot of things on the iPhone at some point. It doesn't mean removing some things that were introduced later is somehow a good thing just because it wasn't there before and people can adapt. Copy and paste wasn't there originally, nor video recording or messaging (can't quite recall which at the moment) -- I don't think people would just be quiet if Apple somehow decided to get rid of those for whatever reason.

Apple is probably not bringing it back. Once they remove something they rarely bring it back.

Most consumers had no idea what 3D actually was trying to execute. People will adapt to anything Apple does, because they don’t have a choice if they choose to support Apple through upgrades. I personally liked 3D Touch, but deleting the panel and allowing for more internal battery improvements is appreciated (And it’s cost cutting for Apple), especially given how powerful these smart phones are today.

I hate 3D Touch, turning it off is the first thing I do when I set up a new phone.

3D Touch? Not sad that it is gone;never used it.

Love these polls with answers only the OP would like.

Hated 3D touch. Glad it's gone.
There are people who don’t care about iPhone’s ability to place or receive calls as they don’t like calls and just use messaging or email or whatnot. Doesn’t seem like that would really make much of a reason for Apple to remove the phone aspect from iPhones.

All phones, will lose 3D Touch, when upgrading to iOS 13. It will only be haptic feedback from now on. I have iOS 13 and don't miss 3D touch. I found it annoying and difficult to navigate between 3D Touch and (Long Press/Haptic) So not missing anything in my corner.

Frankly Long Press and bigger battery is a better plan.

3D Touch is still there in iOS 13.

Not quite sure about the bigger battery connection to it all.

3D Touch > Haptic Touch for sure. If Apple can improve Haptic touch response time, it might be on to something.

Losing 3D Touch is food for thought IMO. Not a deal breaker, but still...

I only used it for keyboard cursor swipe which was excellent, I suspect haptic touch will be a poor replacement. Overall though the tech was overkill for it's uses.
