I agree. I gave up my iPhone 7 Plus. Big mistake.Huge step back when upgrading from a Plus model.
I use it daily. I like my phone in landscape in my car mount for a nicer navigation view. There's a reason all those old Garmin GPS units were landscape mode. Still too many apps in the store that don't do landscape though, including the iOS music app.
I think there were a lot of empty promises when the 6 Plus first came out, about software being optimized for the larger screen and being able to do more with the real estate, especially in landscape mode. A lot of features either never materialized, or we were given what seemed like a stopgap, only to realize several years down the line that it wasn't going to get any better. So I say good riddance to landscape home screen mode, which was more annoying than it was useful when I wanted apps to still be able to detect the orientation of the phone. Loving the way the software is laid out on the iPhone X.another example of modern apple’s half effort implementations

You are such an amazing pollster, going around talking to 99% of all iPhone users. Amazing. You should be sorry for trying to pawn off your own opinion as fact. But hey, those are the times we live in, so it must be aok.
That is true.... on iPhone X the Mail app in landscape is a single column, not as on iPhone 7 PlusPersonally I don't care about landscape homescreen, it is more annoying to me than anything (As I don't want landscape homescreen, but I also don't want to enable/disable rotation lock all the time just to stop it.)
The bigger issue I heard was that the phone doesn't identify like the Plus in landscape, inside of apps. Meaning an app like Mail shows a single column layout, and not the split panes like it does on the plus. That is really stupid if true.
A wired/wireless stand would solve that problem.Went from an iPhone 6 regular size to iPhone X. I would have used landscape mode at my desk while it is charging and can see notifications. Portrait mode doesn't work since the cable prevents it from being propped up and doesn't rotate all the way when upside down.

All apps that work in landscape.Don’t miss the landscape home screen but do miss it in safari, mail, messages etc.

Try using your phone in your car. Mount it on your dash and turn it sideways. Then open iTunes to play your Apple Music. What was the benefit of this? Serious question as I've never found it very useful.
