“Huge step back”

Lol, I’ve never once used my home screen in landscape. There is really no benefit to doing so.

Maybe not for you. But why does that mean those of us who use it have to lose it as an option?

I think the reason for the lack of landscape homescreen on the iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR is Face ID doesn't support landscape yet. Maybe once they figure that out it will return.

So you unlock it in portrait, and turn in on its side. That's not much of an effort. Do you think they will never implement Face ID on the iPad for this reason?

So really annoyed. Apps like Notes, Mail, the split view in landscape mode is still not same as plus. It's there, but after you make a selection it slides away and gives you this un needed jumbo wide view of the content. Then you have to swipe back from the edge to bring the split view back as an overlay.

Messages.app finally works correct in landscape mode. Really disappointed in the max over this. All this works fine on normal plus models. It's like they worked harder to make it a more miserable UI.

Yeah, I don't know why they didn't just do it the right way, like the way it is on the Plus models. I waited for landscape mode in home screen, and having the mail app work the way it does on my 7+, and "NOPE, YOU STILL CAN'T HAVE IT", sez Apple...
