This new Macbook pro is so thin you can put it in your wallet Jonny Ives has lost his mind!

I just checked the apple site for the new macbook pro. You still only get a maximum 16gigs of ram. 32gigs needs to be the bare minimum these days for more pro level work. This event was a big fail for me across the board. Those macbook pros stink! I'll ride out my Mac Pro and then its an HP Z for me!!

Wow, only 16 GB of RAM? 32 is my bare minimum now as well.

16GB ram for the life of the machine, without the option to upgrade

This is what the apple of now considers as "pro"

UK price has gone up £500 for the base model. :eek:o_O:D Yeah, 3-year old machine in dire need of an update, definitely put the prices up, great plan. Insane.

(Btw, I get it's likely about the exchange rate etc, but if there was ever a product to just absorb it, good grief...)

It looks like apple has lost their way when it comes to the Mac! The Mac line up is in a sad state, and this new Macbook pro is anything but a pro laptop.

I have been using Mac's for a very long time and it seems like that road is sadly coming to an end!

My assumption is that any desktops to be released in november would have been revealed at today's event. Even if just a short "one more thing" notice, they would let us know. Hence my guess is that there will be no update of any desktop during 2016.
How about press conference?

Very true. And that also dashes the hopes of all the people hoping for a new 5K apple display!!
The monitor was fairly ugly too (compared to the ATD), big bezel at the top, looks weird, maybe i am a little bit to OCD but nope, its not for me, i am waiting for the 5K Asus ProArt monitor instead

And I should mention I'm actually working on a machine with 48 GB of RAM right now. I expect my next workstation will have 64 GB, to be upgraded at some later date to even higher. The new MacBook Pro might be okay for surfing the net, but I wouldn't do anything serious with it.

4, count them 4, Thuderbolt ports so you can buy several USB adaptors for $49/each? Time to start researching Windows machines or hope that my mid 2013 MBP never dies. My problem is that I have such a huge investment in MacOS software and really don't want to have to rent the Adobe suite when I have an older Mac Version that works just fine.

Very doubtful as Tim said that they were going into the holiday season with their best lineup yet. This is just another rumor of the ever hopeful:(

I really don't know what that means, but if he was serious that the current line-up is their best line-up yet, then I honestly think he's insane, as the iMacs are quite old and even if the Mac Pro and mini are being abandoned I would expect there'd be some people wanting new iMacs this year. Maybe it's naive, but I think there's going to be at least another announcement coming next month of at least something.
