So xciteme has not posted anything other than this opening post? I think we can assume it's simply phasing for attention and leave it at that.. Move along peeps nothing to see here.

I have no idea what you are saying. Apple is adding the iOS 4 features to the iPad plus printing for free, in November (the fall) exactly like they said. How on earth is this going for $$$ instead of users?

I guess you must think you are making sense, but I think you're just jibberish.

I think what he's trying to get at is that by releasing 4.2 in November it adds value to the current iPad, thereby renewing interest in the product in time for Christmas.

Arrived at my doorstep 1 week ago. It's a fun gadget (I wouldn't call it a computer), but this is unacceptable. A second-rate OS until November???

Eating my 10% restocking fee and getting my $$$ back.

Sorry Apple, maybe next revolution.

Please don't trip on your way running back to the store to return it!

So you went from wanting to marry your iPad to wanting to get rid of it in a few days?

Drama much?

FTR, the OP started a thread a few day ago entitled "I love my iPad so much I want to marry it, is that weird".

Exactly my point. So many people are on here expecting apple to "keep them in their thoughts after spending a good part of income" on a software crippled device which until competition opens they don't have to fix.

I mean the iPhone 4 can't make calls and the iPad can't even set an alarm clock to go off unless you remember to close all your data.

Get real fanboys - your $ are lighting Steve and buddies cigars.

Settle down a bit there mate. Such comments are inflammatory and do not, in any way, add to a discussion.

Omg its the end of the freaking world

Pretty clear with the late arrival of IOS4 to the iPad that Apple always intended the first generation iPad to be sold with little support, just hoping enough minions buy it so they feel compelled to upgrade with iPad 2 comes out. Unfortunately I'm one of those minions.

So thus the iPad going down the same route as the iPhone. You get just enough new features with each upgrade but the always leave out that one important item, which they will introduce "next year".

But having 4.2 come out in November does nothing to make people upgrade.

Just curious, what 'one important item' is it that they left out of the iPad?
Also, the only thing that is clear is how willfully ignorant you are about the amount of time it takes to develop an OS for any sort of device.

Depending on when in november it is released we are looking at a delay of between 4-5 months to reach parity with the rest of the IOS devices. Given the fact that the iPad is quite a different beast from the rest of the family i'd say that isn't to shabby and in the meantime you still have a very nice functioning 3.2 release that works very well for the iPad.

I also think you should return it. I know I would.

After having owned an ipad since launch, 256mb of ram simply wont be enough for ios 4.2

My guess is they will be releasing a new ipad very close to the 4.2 release, the new ipad will run 4.2 great, the old one will have apps crash, etc.

Hell safari already crashes right now sometimes running nothing in the background.

the one important item they left out for me is 512mb of ram.

Well English is my language. I typed in short hand be causing I am typing on a software iPad keyboard so I'm not exactly anti-apple.

Yes. If u need it spelt out. The software will be free but it will only be available once there are the new features to make money in iOS not when the free features like backgrounding is coded.

Obviously:p:p apple care about $$$ not end users experience unless they are in conflict.

Just stop talking... Please.

Seriously, you're an idiot if you think this. You buy something based on what it does TODAY. Not what you think it will do in the future. If you bought an iPad only because you expected massive software upgrades before "fall" then you're delusional. I'm expecting Apple to provide a working device (check) and live up to any promises (delivering iOS 4 before end of fall - on track for a check there also).

Honestly, the iPad without multitasking is brutal.

While I love my iPad, not being able to run any music services like pandora or rhapsody in the background while I surf or read mail is a absolute joke. Or vice versa. Running pandora and not being able to exit the app or the music will come to an end. Seriously? This is indeed a tablet, not a smart phone from 2007. Apple should of rushed 4.x to the iPad just a tad bit sooner. It's very much needed.

God bless the jailbreak community.

ipad is brutal without multi-task?? then jailbreak it if it's so brutal.

Seems like camera was left off so apple's bigger sellers -the iPhone4 and new Touch could debut facetime. I think FT will be very popular. I think Apple wasn't sure how ipad would sell and also wanted to keep it low priced. If they upgrade it before a year I won't be thrilled.
thinking of selling my iPad this year and getting a new Touch to hold me over til the new iPad comes out.
