Hm. Really confused on what to do now, or maybe not. Feels like I should get the current one now or see if I can get some cheap USBC-> 3.1 converters to the iMac I can attach on the back of it and 4 new old ports pops out and I can use the other 3 on the back for TB3 purposes like a TB3 audio interface...

I mean how much Better will the i7700K be compared to the high end Skylake in the 27" model??

4.0-4.2 compared to a newer chip with same 14nm and 4.2-4.5GHz instead....
And we don't know if the RAM is self-upgraded or not. I like the 3rd party thing and I'd rather go with no adapters and use the usb ports it has, I can't name any of my music buddies having latency problems with their iMacs and their music production in Logic....

I, for one, am absolutely shocked at Apple. Not that they didn't release any other products yesterday, but for the unnecessary price increases on one-year old models! A £200 increase on some iMac models is abysmal, unprecedented and quite frankly - greedy.

I think It's time to say goodbye to Apple products. I certainly will not be upgrading to a newer iMac machine, when it is eventually released. I think it is time to shop for alternatives, as much as it pains me to say this as I absolutely love my iMac...

Thanks for this. Think I will save all my pennies and quickly get the current iMac before the release the next one Early 2017... my producer buddies are super happy with the 27" iMac so, I think I'll join the league.

Although...if they have the i 7770K chip at 4.5GHz one can just buy one of these from Ali:

I cant believe how much the prices have gone up, I bought in January a Late 2015 iMac with 16GB ram a 4.0 GHz i7 CPU, M395X GPU and 1TB SSD with apple care and it came to £2,969.00 now the same unit would cost £3,578. Glad I bought when I did tbh. The mark up I'm guessing being based on Brexit is insane.

I really want a new iMac. Even though the buying advice from this site says not to buy the current iMac..I m eyeing one .

Same here. Really don't know the GPU thing and fans everyone is talking about at some places..

Best guess is spring or summer update with better graphics and improved 4K capability encode/decode. Possible redesign. Depends on the work you do (is it video intensive?) and how badly you need/want it now.

Just sold my late 2014 iMac recently hoping a new version was coming yesterday. That didn't happen, so now I'm going for the late 2015 top 27 model. But has some nice improvements over the previous model I had, so I don't mind much. Would have loved to see a space grey iMac with beefed up specs. Oh well :)

Personally I think hell will freeze over before I would pay these sorts of prices for what amounts to pretty old tech - total madness. Thank goodness with age comes wisdom (though not always  ) but in this case definitely.

Apple are taking their customers for mugs and sadly some are only too happy to confirm Apple's stance.

I'm tempted to pull the trigger but I'm also put off by the price change.

I'm happy to wait probably and pay the extra £300 (Brexit tax) for the new version with 5k monitor TB3 support and the faster SSD etc. but rather concerned how long it maybe before it appears :/

It's "want" vs. "need."

If what you have is working for you and you want a new one just to get the latest and greatest, I'd probably wait till next year.

If you you need a new Mac, and the current iMac will meet your needs, I don't see any reason not to buy what is available now.

The one I have now is the last model that had the superdrive in it.While it works, it s slow.
