Nothing in that entire list is a VIRUS in the wild that infects OS X.
Try that Google search again. You'll be searching for a loooong time.

But, but, but.... What about port 80??!?!!?!?
Port 80 is the port that web servers use to listen to requests from clients. When you type "www.apple.com" into Safari, Safari will send a request to Apple's server on port 80, and Apple's server is listening on that port and will reply. If some evil, evil hacker sends a message on port 80 to your iPad, well, your iPad doesn't run a web server, so there is nobody listening on port 80, so whatever message your iPad receives on that port will be completely ignored.
Sure, all of the evil ones write viruses for Windows because they can do the most damage but what if an iPhone OS virus popped up?
We would be screwed.
It is not impossible for a virus to get into the iPad through a common port such as 80 or for it to even get an email virus.

Worry about getting a virus on the iPad, Battlestar. Every "never" above has been proven false.
Anyone who says you will never be able to get a virus on an iPad is wrong.
Anyone who says you will never be able to get a virus on an iPad is wrong. As is everyone who believes that installing antivirus software will make any difference.
The "can't happen" folks above are the same who swore terrorists could never take down a building like the World Trade Center towers, until they did.![]()
Can you explain a method which is credible for a non jailbroken device? I'd be keen to hear it.
You will never be able to print on an iPad.
You will never be able to use a mouse on an iPad.
No one will ever watch video on an iPod.
Apple will never make a phone.
and so on.

...On top of that Anti Virus only protects against KNOWN viruses so if theres a new unheard one we are ALL in the same boat.![]()
Did I miss the tin foil hat that you get at the start of this thread?
The OSX/Leap-A worm spreads via the iChat instant messaging system, forwarding itself as a file called latestpics.tgz to contacts on the infected users' buddy list. When the latestpics.tgz archive file is opened on a computer it disguises its contents with a JPEG graphic icon in an attempt to fool people into thinking it is harmless.
