It sure is a gimmick :rolleyes:

This lens + Amber update = will make it the best smartphone camera for 2013 & 2014... maybe 2015 unless Nokia keeps innovating.

Nokia 808 is still the best smartphone camera on the planet right now and it got released a whole year ago.

Those pictures are extremely impressive.

I will definitely be getting this phone if they don't mess up anything, such as putting a smaller battery in or something.

I always thought the Lumia 920, even when it first came out, was really missing a "bang" factor that really could make a splash. While it was competitive with the iPhone and S3, it didn't really have anything that separated it from the others... iPhone had the App Store, S3 had the specs and openness of Android. While the 920, 925, and 928 cameras are all the best in camera phones today, I don't think they are that much better than Nokia tends to make people believe.

With this phone, I can literally not use my digital camera again. Ever. Those sample pictures really really are just as good as your average digital camera.

I'd like to know wether it saves the images at 45 MP or if it's just being used for the Zoom. Someone has further information or clues?

EDIT: 41 MP ;)

windowsphone needs more apps and features than a better camera. and btw that phone is way too thick, i would hate to have a thick, big circle at the back of my phone, it will also make difficult to hold the phone.

almost as big of a joke as the 9gb samsung s4 with a 13 mp camera. This thing better have like 128gb of storage to be useful.

Why? Most people will use the camera to oversample, not take 41 MP images

With the EOS, groups of pixels can be oversampled to act as one pixel. You take a 5 MP image, 7 pixels get clustered to reproduce 1 pixel. Because of the oversampling, you end up w/ a superior image. You can also use a digital zoom to zoom from 7:1 pixels all the way to 1:1 without losing any image info. Unlike every other smartphone out there, where a digital zoom means zooming into the image and having post processing alias the hell out of it

Not really as there is always the option to save too an SDcard with the S4.

Yawn. $299.99 and stuck with mediocre WP8?

Wake me up when Nokia supports Android. I'll always support them, but never on Windows phone

$299.99 with AT&T exclusivity.

Safe to say it will not affect iPhones or galaxies for at least another year or so :p

Let's meet next year MS and Nokia.

This phone packs impressive technology.

PureView 41MP camera with OIS - i.e. PureView Phase 3, a combo of 808 and 920, which has been further improved upon their respective predecessors with the better OIS over 920(new bearings, etc...) and better 41MP over 808(Smaller F stop at 2.2 vs 2.4, 6 lens instead of 5 and BSI)

Rich Recording Audio - Stereo recording of audio

PureMotion HD+ screen - Use with gloves

But that WP8...

I just hope 41MP is the new standard for point and shoots. I mean, who DOESN'T want that?! I think I might pay outright for iPhone 5S and then get THIS on contract for THAT! :D
I wouldn't pay more than $199 for this phone. Without a contract. My $500 mirrorless takes better pictures than that with 40% the total pixel count, and I'm not stuck with a "industry-leading 4X optical zoom with OIS" 24/7.

Im sure in a month or 2 it will be half that price. With the HTC One and OG Pro available for less than $150 with 32gb storage. I don't see why you buy this over those phones unless camera quality is your only priority.
