Use ONEDRIVE ;)

I like Dropbox because I have 100 GB free and it works across all OS platforms. I can sync it on tablets, laptops and mobile phones. no matter what the OS is..... I have not used Onedrive in years....probably have a 5GB limit or so....

You get an extra 3gb as soon as you launch it and say backup my photos ;)

OneDrive is cross platform too ... I think it is 7 Gb

^ It was new, someone just traded in their unwanted O2 upgrade ... They had the plan, they got the phone as a freebie and so made a couple hundred euro out of it in the process.

Only thing is it is locked to O2 and I'm with vodafone.

I rang O2 and they are more than happy to give me the unlock code, however they don't have it on their database as its a new phone, so they have requested it from HTC and will forward me it as soon as they receive it from HTC (takes 4 - 14 days) So at the moment I can't use it for my daily driver, and I could be waiting up to another week for the code. But for that little hassle considering the price it seems worth dealing with.

You were very lucky ....
I'd like to have an M8. I don't even care about the camera since I have my iPhone for that and for casual shots the M8 is just fine.

Anyone can get 100gb free on OneDrive. All it requires is signing up for Bing Rewards and clicking a mouse a few times.

Thanks Lloydbm41.....I am going through that process now. But not sure if I want to copy everything over to Onedrive form Dropbox.
Is there a way to get battery percentage to be shown by the default battery icon? I have an app called On Battery and it has a nice live tile that shows a lot of great info.

No, there is no way to show battery % in the status bar. That said, if you swipe down just a tad to start notification center, you can see the percentage. I find this option better than wasting my screen space and active RAM on a live tile.

And there is a very simple way to move everything from Dropbox to One drive on your PC. Download the Dropbox exe file from their homepage which creates a virtual folder on your PC. Do the same with OneDrive. Now both folders will act like any other folder on your PC and you can highlight all files in Dropbox, copy them and then paste in OneDrive. This may require multiple repeats depending on file sizes, but it is much faster and simpler than doing it on a phone or tablet.

Doing some research on Cortana and came across this article......funny.

I am of course reminded of the scene in "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home," which I still consider a nerd classic. Scotty sits down in front of a Mac Plus—the film was released in 1986—picks up the mouse, and says, "computer, on." For nearly 30 years, that scene has generated knowing chuckles because today's computers simply aren't that usable. Or at least they weren't. As it turns out, today's computing devices are even more impressive than the computer Scotty tried to interact with.

I'm using a similar app with live tile, and it works quite well (with very useful statistics).
There are only two issues:
- the live tile is refreshed every ~20 min (not constantly);
- the live tile isn't refreshed if aero mode is activated.

Those are WP 8 behavior and I'm not sure if WP 8.1 changed it.

We don't get them in Ireland.

<This feature isn't available yet in your country or region> error page.

Click this link and you should be able to see if you can get them in Italy.

:) :(

No it's not supported here in Italy too

I tried to see if I could donate 200 of my points to you guys via Microsoft. I have a request ticket in now. Once I get a response, I will let you know. I currently have 900 points, so not a big deal to share. :D

You didn't need to do that but thank you kindly sir for the consideration :D tell them your trying to give some to a Microsoft MVP .... ;) :p Though I still doubt they have infrastructure set up for European accounts to accept them, however did find a link saying some folks were using an american IP address to set it up from Europe.

My request has been processed and is being reviewed. Supposedly, I will get a response within 1 business day. We'll see. :p

And I have plenty of points, the least I can do is help fellow WP users out. Having lived in both Italy (a couple of times) and the U.K. (I know it isn't Ireland, but hey, you're neighbors), I feel extra compelled to help out where I can. :D

And I was going to suggest using a VPN to mask your IP to look like it is American?

The 1520 is a large phone - that's really the only caveat that I would throw out there.

It's also much faster.

The 1020 camera is just superior. It's supposedly getting refreshed soon so I'd wait. My 1020 takes amazing shots with the Nokia Pro beta app but the processing time is a bit crazy. A better CPU will do wonders. And 8.1 is now my favorite mobile os. Unfortunately it's still a dud for me just because of the awful app support and selection.

Thanks.
I'm not in the mood to trick the system by maskerating my IP , but it is a very poor choice on Microsoft part to let us Europeans out. WP share is higher in Europe than it is in US.

I had both. I wound up selling the 1020. It's a great phone and the camera is by far superior, but the camera on the 1520 is better than most phones as well. The huge screen and SD card support made my decision pretty easy.

Nw with 8.1 it's even nicer. Lots of cool stuff in 8.1 I'm finding.

If you prefer a phone that isn't huge, I'd say go with the 1020. It's an awesome phone. If you prefer a phablet, the choice is easy. Other than screen size and camera (great, and greater) there aren't a whole lot of differences between the two.

Actually the hardware on 1520 is much better.
WP is well optimized even for older hardware, but 1520 is top notch in WP world

Great low light photo. One of the knocks on the Icon (929) is its not that great in low light conditions. I haven't tried it in low light yet but what you have is really nice :)

I really wish the Icon was coming to ATT.

I have a Note 3 and enjoy bigger phones but I think this is my max. Is the 1520 getting an upgrade this year or is the 930/icon the only bigger update so far announced?

930 is the only one announced so far, but the 1520 is not even 6 months old. I think the new phablet will be announced by Q4

Nokia's are usually great in low light conditions: why do you think the icon is not?
