Also I wasn't aware of a size difference in the charging pucks between models. How is this the case when you can only order one style as an accessory??

I thought the pic of the product in the EOD they sent looked a bit rough to be honest. Not as slick as the promo pics. Oh well!

I don't think - certainly hope - that is the final product. I agree: that finish was rough.

I recieved the email as well. Par for the course in my experience. I also preordered their extra battery thingy. Two of them. And they were delayed - if I remember correctly - by a few weeks. But I've been pretty happy with them. Good function. Nice build. I have similar expectations of their stand. We'll see.

I preordered the stand. On day 1. A few weeks ahead of the Watch preorder. At the time, I remember thinking I'd have to figure out what to do with my new Watch for a few weeks as I waited for my late May shipping date to arrive. Funny... I'll likely have my stand ahead of my Watch. Go figure.

That said, the wife's 38mm sport + white band arrived today. The packaging is classic Apple wonder. There is nothing quite like opening a new Apple device. The entire experience is so thoughtful. So enjoyable.

Cheers.

Just got an email stating the lovely stands Nomad make and I ordered are now delayed....

Like my May delivery of SS with link watch.

First world purgatory.

That would be because they just got their Watch and discovered that the charging magnet is not strong enough to hold it up like that. :)

Canceled my order... Loved the initial look and design of the product. However, the stand pictured in the email appears too different from their website. I really don't like the charging cable exit slot on the top surface...overall it just doesn't look as sleek and polished. I'm also a bit concerned with the aluminum surface and the milanese band interactions.

So I'm unclear about this cable showing now. Why does the email update today show a stand that looks different in design than we have seen with no comment about the changes.? To me it looks like this is the new design now. I wanted to order a Pod but now I'm not sure about their ability to deliver!!

Ok, the moron that sent out the e-mail shouldn't have included a pic of a rough copy. Not finished at all. Not appealing at all.

It's just part of the manufacturing process. It's gonna look like hell before they buff it and anodize it.

As for the cable being visible. There's a channel on the back side of the stand that the cable runs down in. If they change that, they'll get everyone returning it. It'll be fine. Deep breaths. Lots of time to wait for it to ship towards the end of May! :)

Uh, no. The magnets are different sizes (sport vs watch - plastic vs stainless).

So, they need to modify the mount to accommodate both sizes.

Everything mentioned aside-if you are ordering a metal watch-you may want to give this stand a miss. Metal on metal-more scratches.

The Speigen stand is similar (although not as nice) and has a rubber plinth for this exact reason.

The picture on the Nomad site shows the link bracelet hanging with a gap on either side, not making contact.

Easy enough to brush a rubber coat on the end if it appears there's likelihood of contact if I get careless cradling it. :) I'll figure that out when I get the watch. That's a quick trip to Home Depot. :)

I think we are all aware of the cable channeling, this is not the issue. The issue that I have is that in the original design you saw only the puck, now you see the beginning of the cable at about 2 o'clock to the side of the puck. It definitely doesn't look as slick. Also I understand the metal is not finished or coated in the photo, that also is not the problem.

This is pretty crappy. I heard the Nomad guy on the Apple Watchcast an episode or two ago and he seemed like a good guy, but last minute delays like this can really turn a customer off.

If I feel like I NEED a watch stand, I will make one with some oak. Working with wood on small scales like that is actually really fun. But, hell, I don't even NEED the watch in the grand scheme of things...I need a stand even less.

That's a picture of the under-side of the top. How did you think they'd get it in the channel??

What are you talking about? That is a photo clearly from the top buddy and if you look at all the photos on their website that is not shown!! You need to take a look again.

I'll post side by side photos to better illustrate.

Heh, I was just about to reply, but then you posted that. :)

Yep, you're right. I've e-mailed Brian (who sent out that pic) and asked him to confirm if they've made that design change. That's messed up!!

I might just cancel if they have...I'll certainly be looking for another stand. (and, yeah, black's important for me...want it to complement my SB SS LB) :)

Keep us updated on his response. I can handle the delay but I'm disappointed in the delay AND design change if true. It just doesn't impress like it did before.

I don't see how you can hide that first bit of cable without bending it over too hard and possibly causing damage to the charger itself.

I think we've been bamboozled.

Based on the photos I think that the previous design had the puck sit low enough that the cable could be covered by a thin layer of metal. On the new design the puck looks more prominent and higher hence making it impossible to hide the wire.

I see what you're saying. Makes sense. Maybe that's what the finishing layer does as opposed to the pic we're seeing of just bare metal?

Still waiting for a response from Brian. Did receive a response from Chloe on their support team, but only to be told I'll get a "real" response within 1 business day.

I'll update the thread with their response. I'm not taking a discount. :(

If this is the way it is, I'll just have to get a refund and wait for something really nice to come out in black.

Umm....they haven't shipped yet Ant. :) (and won't until sometime after May 21st).

They should allow anyone that wants to, to cancel their order.

Might want to wait and see what Brian's response is though.

i know they haven't shipped, but the same policy would surely apply to pre orders regarding cancellation - as in you can simply cancel, no questions asked.

They cancelled mine no quibbles. Offered me 20% discount but I declined. Refund came through in 12 hours.
