Think of the glass as a case, so you dont need to add another case because the glass is already a case :D

Is there any truth to wireless charging heating and destroying the phones battery? Or is this an example of someone exaggerating to support their opinion?

I have three wireless charging pucks and not one of them heats up my iPhone 8, not even the two capable of fast charging. I have no idea what people are talking about.

Also, I'm never going back. In the car I love plopping the phone onto a magnetic charging holder. No cable mess, no fiddling, only needs one hand, and I can do it by feel without even looking. It's one of those things where, even weeks later, I'm still delighted every time I do it.

One Counter argument I want to make about using a charging cable is that I like to sometimes charge my iPhone or iPad awhile I’m using it. For that reason alone, I would not opt solely for wireless charging as a primary.

Oh I agree with you. I still use the lightning port sometimes.

When I say "I'm never going back", I mean I'd never go back to a phone without the option to charge wirelessly.

Agreed. I still use the cable sometimes as well although being able to just drop the phone on my desk and wirelessly charge is super nice though.

I just don’t buy wireless charging actively harms your device battery though I admit I don’t know all the details. I found one article from some guy who said it was increasing his charge cycles buy discharging and charging at the same time (that’s not even possible) so there doesn’t appear to be any actual evidence of decay.

This video explains it really well.

I'll take glass every time, the color never scratches, fades or wears off. Heck even a clear
back would interest me, on the other hand, think of the colors they could do, Blue anyone?

waiting (not-so-patiently) for a midnight blue glass back iPhone.

Not just wireless charging but the biggest proponent for a glass back design is that it allows for the least signal/noise ratio of any current design possible, meaning much better reception overall.

I will be a huge fanny of the "all glad iPhone", so drivers can see the road while texting.
i might even start using these dangerous paved pathways!

a repair for the iphone x is $549.00, ofcourse apple wants to have an all glass phone.

Of course, you do realize that in order to support wireless charging, the iPhone has to have a glass backing. So in theory, you’re insinuating that they want to have an all glass phone because of the repair cost fee’s, when the reality is, it has to exist because wireless charging. Also, if the glass back is shattered anyways, it cannot be repaired because its adhered together, the device has to be replaced.

It doesn't have to have glass, Apple has chosen a design that utilizes glass for wireless charging.

So you’re insinuating that the glass back design they chose for the iPhone 8/X was just a coincidence by introducing it at the same time with wireless charging components? As in the Glass back is not required, but Apple chose to introduce wireless charging anyways due to the redesign? So why introduce wireless charging to the iPhone 8 and not just make it exclusive to the iPhone X?

No, I am not saying this at all. I am just saying that Apple chose glass for wireless charging, but it is not the only material that could be used.

My statement was a response to this one:

you do realize that in order to support wireless charging, the iPhone has to have a glass backing.
Another design/material could have been used.

Ok? What other specific materials are 100% conducive to wireless charging other than glass backings? (I.e, what metals are you aware of specifically that doesn’t interfere with the Transfer of energy).

Plastic works well for wireless charging.

Maybe glass could still be used, just a different design, like an aluminum backing with the glass Apple logo.

The point is, a glass back is a choice that Apple made, it is not required, there are a bunch of inductive charging devices that are not glass.

Glass is a pretty terrible material for phones. I would rather see the return of plastic because it's generally lighter as well as more durable. The best feeling phone to me is still the sandstone texture back Oneplus One.

Right, we already know Apple made the choice for a glass backing, also, when has Apple in the history of the iPhone ever used plastic aside from the 5C? They haven’t. Especially given wireless has solid transfer rate with the electromagnetic energy due to Glass.

This all could be true, and I don’t necessarily agree nor disagree, but it doesn't change the fact that the following statement is incorrect:

you do realize that in order to support wireless charging, the iPhone has to have a glass backing

Again, Apple chose the glass backs when they could have used another material or design.

Maybe a glass back and design is the best option for Apple and their customers, but the glass back, and the design was not the only option, it was the chosen option.

also, when has Apple in the history of the iPhone ever used plastic aside from the 5C? They haven’t.
The original had a partial plastic back. The 3G, and 3GS iPhones had a full plastic back, although, I have seen it called it a hybrid plastic (whatever that means).
