This all could be true, and I don’t necessarily agree nor disagree, but it doesn't change the fact that the following statement is incorrect:
I am not referring to the aesthetics of using glass, I am referring to using glass for induction charging.Yes, it’s an aesthetic choice from Apple
Again, this statement is incorrect, glass is not required, as other materials could be used. Also, a different design could have been used that didn't require the whole backside of the iPhone to be glass.but does require glass as a material used for direct contact for the transfer of electromagnetic energy
Of course, you do realize that in order to support wireless charging, the iPhone has to have a glass backing. So in theory, you’re insinuating that they want to have an all glass phone because of the repair cost fee’s, when the reality is, it has to exist because wireless charging. Also, if the glass back is shattered anyways, it cannot be repaired because its adhered together, the device has to be replaced.
I have a solution for you back will be metal the Apple lego in the back will be bigger and from glass or plastic like behind the MBP then you can charge it
Have you seen the size of that inductive coil?! A logo that big on the back of an iPhone will look hideous.
The glass back on my 8 is my favorite design feature. So premium, so substantial, so beautiful. Makes my old 6 (which I loved) seem positively cheap.

I still have my 4S, its in mint condition. And while I like my 8, I am afraid I will break it. The 4S glass seemed thicker perhaps? My 8 is in a thick case because I am afraid I will drop it again and break it. Initially it was in a thin case but after dropping it (no damage) I opted for something more protective. Needless to say I hate the case, therefore if I had my choice, I would rather a metal backside on my phone.
Did you upgrade from a 4S to the 8?

Good just don't crack it
Agree 100% which is why it's another year I may return Max and wait out with my 7+ matte black.Matte Black 7 Plus was my favorite iPhone in terms of look and feel. I don't like the glass, but appreciate wireless charging and I put a case on anyway.
Don't plan to. Never cracked my 4S.
