There’s nothing in between? That’s weird. I have this:

So weird.. I’m not trying to give you a hard time or anything, but are you sure that iOS 12 is installed & not just downloaded? The same thing happened when my wife’s phone was missing a feature in a previous version of iOS.

Yep. I've been doing this since 2007. But, Apple being Apple, never makes anything easy or consistent. :)

I'll screenshot each step of the process so you can see...

STEP 3 (CON...) AS YOU CAN SEE. NO OTHER OPTIONS.

i get the same thing. do you only have 1 mail account? (i do)

looks like you can group if you have more than 1 account.

I only have one account. I find it odd that if I only have one account that it won't group them all together.
Sometimes Apple frustrates me. :)

That is frustrating & confusing. I just checked my wife’s 8; she only has one account & the grouping option is listed. Now I’m curious to see if the option shows up when you install 12 on your X. I might have missed where you said, but is the grouping option showing up for any of your app notifications?

Yes, it shows for every app except for Mail now. Maybe a limitation of older phones? Somehow? What iPhone are you using?

Dang. That’s messed up if the grouping option isn’t allowed on older phones, especially since Mail needs it most of all. I’m on an iPad Pro & the option is listed in every app I’ve checked.

Try enabling VIP mailbox or adding a Favorites one (like for a folder that you have in your single account) and see if that gets the option to show up in notification settings.

It's definitely iOS 12 given that the notification settings show the new iOS 12 design.

Good idea & point.

Also, have you toggled off the Mail notifications & then turned them back on? Probably won’t do anything, but worth a shot..?

I'll give it a shot.

The other bug I've found is that I get double notifications for Facebook and they aren't being grouped together regardless of what settings I use.

So, if you enable VIP and/or Favorite Mailboxes and then go to Settings > Notifications > Mail do you still see the same screen right away, or do you first see another screen where you can separately select settings for your mail account or for you VIP and/or Favorite Mailboxes (like in the screenshot at the top of this second page of the thread)?

I still see the same screens I've seen before. Ehh, I'm tired of fooling with it tonight. Work comes early in the AM.

Strange, you should definitely be seeing more given that you can set up notifications separately for VIP vs. your mail account, for example. Maybe a restart might help?

I have the option for grouping notifications for Gmail app, but not stock Mail app. iPhone X.

Odd, isn't it?
Is your account a exchange account or imap? I´m using imap and started wondering if this might be the issue. Seems stupid if it indeed would be the case. But throwing it out there just in case.

It's a Yahoo! Mail account. I just wish iOS would stay consistent.

You know, I think they need to actually pay attention to how the competition is doing it, because they've had it right for years.

I just tested for FB messenger and Viber. No matter if I select Notification Grouping as Automatic or By App, Viber messages for 1 person are not grouped. Same for FB and for Outlook. Anyone else with that issue?

HOwever, I saw instagram notifications grouped yesterday.

Does it take some time for the notifications to be grouped on the lock screen or whatever? If I check them immediately after received, they are just like on iOS 11, which is a hell.

Ok, so then it´s imap afaik.

Can someone who is using Mail with exchange account confirm that they see the grouped notification option for stock Mail app with iPhone 5S and/or 6S and X?

Oh.. I mean stock Mail app with Gmail account not the Gmail app.
I am not getting any notifications from any app while in low power mode which used to work in iOS11. Can anyone please check and confirm this?
