Other Notch versus Pill+Hole

Wow, that is a lot of bezel! You are either going to have a smaller screen or a noticeably bigger phone
they both suck but the pill+hole is only marginally better because it's the closest to eliminating the notch completely.

Well, even if Touch ID were to come back you still would have to get another phone if you want to use it with a mask. What I was trying to say is that since newer Face ID is mask compatible there's no rush for Apple to bring it back.
It looks like the pill will take up a little less horizontal space. That might make enough room for Apple to bring back the % display. Not sure they’ll do it until all models are the same, but maybe.
When the initial renders came out I was actively rooting for the Pill + Hole, but when the real dimensions & CAD files started tricking through, they just seemed like they would be too big on anything but the Pro Max.
I don't know if it'll actually be the case, but if the Pill + Hole cuts lower into the screen than the notch already does, I think it just defeats the purpose. The only thing it does is look different for the sake of looking different. Functionally its identical at best and could potentially be worse if recent leaks are true.
As always, hoping it's better on the final version than anything else we have seen so far. Until I hear it from Tim Cook's mouth, nothing is set in stone.

The rumors suggest that while the pill+hole will be taller, it will be more narrow. There will be a little more room on the sides. Since it is going to be taller, the overall screen will be taller by the same amount to compensate. The result is that the content area under the holes will be the same as the content area under the notch. No change.
That's not bad at all honestly. Obviously clickbait-y rumors were exaggerated and what I had heard up till this point is that the Pill + Hole would cut in lower.
In this scenario, I'd definitely prefer it over the Notch. Although I'm still partial to the idea of it just being one slender pill cut-out instead of two separate holes in the screen, I'll take it over the notch if what you're saying comes to fruition.

Late to the game here, but I find the solid notch to be less distracting and a cleaner aesthetic than the pill+hole.

I think you need a third option, for just having a larger top bezel.
The notch is a just-about workable solution, the pill is not really much better. I think they would have been better off just leaving a slightly bigger top bezel and compromising on the edge-to-edge screen idea.

If it looked exactly as shown here with a pill + hole that actually took up less space both horizontally and vertically and allowed for battery percentage it would be an easy choice. That’s clearly better.
Unfortunately, I don’t think that is what we are going to get.

If it is one single long pill, yes I would want that more than the notch. If it is the i-hole, no I would never like that.
What's funny is that when the Notch was first leaked people said it looked like a cheap Android phone.
From my perspective, I prefer the notch to notch-thick top and bottom bezels.
I'm not fed up with the notch, in fact it really doesn't bother me, because I know that something has to be there to hold the Face-ID array and the cut-outs look fresher to me than the notch. No one has done under screen cameras that don't suffer from worse image quality or are completely invisible while not in use so cut-outs it is.
