I think the problem is that in most states (and Canada), if you ignore the recall and then have a problem with your phone, Samsung might not be obligated to help you unless you can prove you didn't know about the recall. Also, if you want to sell your phone later and something happens to that person, you could be on the hook for it if you knew there was a potential danger.

Seems like a lot of risk just to get to keep the phone for a month or so.
I'm not saying keep the phone and ignore the recall. I'm saying keep using it until Samsung sends you a new one.

This brings up an interesting scenario: unless sellers have a means to prove they have a Note 7 from the new batch, the resell value will be next to nothing on these phones.

If it doesn't explode after one year of usage, it probably isn't going to explode from manufacturer defects.

Well if they're smart they all returned their notes to their respective carriers (if they were the original owner) to get 100% money back. The issue like you said is how is anyone going to prove their phone isn't a ticking time bomb? Someone at XDA is going to figure out a way (one would hope) to differentiate pre and post recall Notes.

If you swap for anything not Samsung made, the you must return the bonus goodies.

Well, anything that's tied to a carrier.. as if someone attached a 2 year plan. Then yeah, those have to be returned.

But things that isn't tied with a carrier, I believe those can be kept.

Yeah that's what I meant as their S2 was an AT&T goodie.

I was until saw price had finally broke the 1k barrier here on the 7 Plus 128.
That Jet Black looks slick! But yeah, I expected the pricing will be higher than normal given that the 7 Plus will have dual cameras and rumored RAM increase.

But as of now.. I'm still holding strong to the Note7.

Have you returned the Note7 already? Or will you have both?
I will get a replacement for my Note 7 and will have both. I have a 6s+ now and a OPO3 and ZTE Axon 7 right now.
But the 7 plus will replace my 6s+.

Wow that is scary. On the bright side I won't mind getting a $300 Note 7 in a month and will even accept the miniscule risk it may have.

Like Jamezr, I'm keeping my Note 7 (after swap) and getting the iPhone 7 Plus. For me, Black looks great. The Jet Black is sweet, but it will be a fingerprint magnet.

Yeah, I should be getting a Note 7 through work in a few months and the iPhone 7 plus on my personal account. I'll probably just use my employers sim card and swap between the 2 phones.

I'll definitely be picking up a nicely used good condition Note 7 if I can snag one for $300 assuming it's from the newer batch. Loved the phone and features but definitely like the iPhone overall better. Already miss the Note a lot and have a feeling the iPhone 7 won't compensate for the features I gave up by returning the Note.

Jet black all the way imo. Matte black gonna be nice too but that glossy jet black just looks so sharp
