It's not a house, it's a home.
Give me a break

Fine, if you want to consider 1% of the issues as "mail" only, then that's cool. However, only 1% affected in mail is still good....that means 99% are running just fine! AWESOME success/fail rate!

Those of you who complain "i'm losing so much money in my life/business because i can't access my mail".....you should have been smarter. if your BUSINESS or any kind of financial situation relies heavily on mail, then you should have more than one mail account with other services for such situations. it's a stupid business and/or financial move to rely solely on one mail account. live and learn i say.

Those who complain they lost data or contacts.........again, live and learn i say. you should always, ALWAYS have some type of back-up mechanism in place for your personal data. time machine, superduper, etc.....you should always backup before you start running new programs, apps, etc.

oh, btw.....if we're still complaining about mail.....it's pushing fine directly to my iphone. i got 6 emails pushed directly this morning. but then again, only the very small group of people (the 1%ers) complain and voice their frustrations on the message boards. that's why when people come in here, all they read are negative comments.....thus my post to show that MM is not all negative......only 1% is. the other 99% is wonderful!

Honestly, I support Apple every day of my life. There's honestly not a day that goes by that I don't talk to others about my mac, my iphone, my ipod, etc...

I supported the transition from .mac to MobileMe with absolutely no problems.

But the fact that after 2 weeks I am still without anything functioning - after waiting on hold with tech support for over 2 hours combined - and paying $99 a year for the service, I have the right to be upset.

Imagine your iPhone was $99 a year and it didn't work for 2 weeks right out of the box...how would you feel?

sorry all you 1%ers have issues. i feel for ya. i just don't like you all bashing a product/service that i have, just like you, and it's working flawlessly for me and 99% of the other users.

i guess this is MM forum is just for people to vent and complain.....maybe MacRumors should make two MM forums...one for MM users and one for MM-issues.

How old are you?

I get the feeling I am arguing with a teenager with some of your "stop making fun of Apple because I said so" arguments

how old am i? i'm willing to bet you're not to bright. do a simple search on my name and even click on my name.

you'll see how old i am and what i do for a living and where i reside and how much "allowance" the old folks give me, a "kiddie".

i'm willing to bet you're not to bright.

Judging by peoples response on this thread to you, you have a lot of company in that department

Your arguments are borderline idiotic. People shouldn't rely on their email for business? We shouldn't mock a product you have? Apple said 1% so the argument stops there? Did I miss something?

You know...who really cares if it's 1% or 20%. The fact remains that Apple botched the roll-out of a product that was completely misrepresented as something that it isn't. It doesn't push to/from all devices. They completely revamped their marketing, pulled the "lies" off of their website, and are probably frantically trying to get it to do what they said it would in the first place to avoid a lawsuit.

Email is important, plain and simple. It's not always life and death, but sometimes it is. The fact that mail sent to my .Mac address isn't getting bounced back to the sender is a problem. At least a delivery delay notification should be going out. $99/year for email is EXPENSIVE when you consider the $20 option from Yahoo that supports push email and has less down time.

And the fact that there is NO phone support for this service and now they're saying that there is no online chat support due to the "overwhelming interest" is a crock. You don't need to contact support if you're interested. You sign up and be done with it.

This is effing ridiculous. Period.

The apple forums, discussions.apple.com are now down, so there is no way to see an official status.

I am able to send and receive mail now, but with about a 6 hour delay both ways.

Is this outage possibly geographic? I am in the North East, USA; how about everyone else with problems?

You know the saying "you get what you pay for", well gmail has never let me down like this!!!

Apple's Response to the MobileMe Mail Problem

I had a .Mac account, changed over to MobileMe, and haven't had email work since last Friday. My contacts and calendar are syncing fine -- problem is just with mail.

What annoys me the most is Apple's response to the problem:
1. Emphasizing the 1% thing (or 2%, or 4%, as the %s have variously been reported from time to time). There sure are a lot of vocal people, if it's only 1%.
2. Shutting down the online support chat for most of the day yesterday. It seems to be available again today.
3. Deleting threads from the Apple discussion forum about the mail problem. One thread was particularly interesting, asking for a count of how many people were out of mail. Before the thread was deleted by Apple, the count was rising rapidly.
4. Last straw: shutting down the discussion forum on which the MobileMe mail problems were being discussed by users. As of now (11:00 am CDT), the message is that they are "updating" the forum and "We'll be Back Soon."

This is a PR challenge in addition to a technological one, and Apple so far has not responded in a smart way. They would be much better off just coming clean with the problem. Have they lost a bunch of email when the conversion from .Mac to MobileMe was done? If so, just say so -- and restore service ASAP. How can it take so long just to restore mail service?

Apple is running scared

We are one of the families who has not had mail for 5 days. Apple has been censoring posts on their discussion forum for a few days now. Customer chat has been taken offline. Now it is clear they are worried about their reputation: they have closed down their discussion board altogether. If you want to hurt them where they will feel it, go to Amazon.com and write a review of MobileMe.

I'm sorry, but all Apple had to do was have this in beta at the same time the SDK was released. It would have been perfect by the launch date.

There was absolutely no reason to try and transition this mammoth over night.

I guess people who have had non-stop issues and are frustrated really don't care if you like them bashing the product or not.

Apple Discussion Forum is back

Apple has restored access to the Discussion Forum (11:20 am CDT). Still don't like the censorship of threads, but at least it's up and running again.

Are most of you the old @mac.com users that were FORCE onto @me.com. If so, this is pretty bad indeed.

I was @mac.com and got moved into @me.com

This is a discussion forum. If you re-read alot of the posts, you'll see that most people here still would buy Apple products. I think we're all fans. This is horrible for Apple though. Think about it...1%, 2%, whatever number....how many people are NOT going to recommend MobileMe...word of mouth is worse than any percentage. As for myself, I would still happily recommend Apple products but, at this time, there's no way I would recommend MobileMe to anyone. Not for awhile at least.

To say you just don't like people bashing the product that's working fine for you or recommend a separate forum be created is silly. Check other forums here and you'll see other frustrated, un-happy users. It's the nature of the beast...this particular forum just seems to have 'many' un-happy, frustrated, complaining users at the moment :)

Sloppy. Very sloppy.

I've been a .mac user for years and I am very dissappointed in Mac and this thread.

My contacts are gone, my email doesn't work and I've lost my access to iDisk. All for the low, low price of $99 a year.

It's good to know that I am part of a minority 1% that's having problems. I guess that means I'm special.

You quibble about percentages, when the real issue is - why wasn't this application fully BETA tested with the bugs worked out before it was deployed?

After all the anti-Vista advertising Apple's done, I'll be very dissappointed if Microsoft doesn't jump on this.

Fascinating. And yet you started a thread asking for advice because MobileMe would not push to your phone.

Ha! That is a good find

Go look at other posts of his

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/518962/ - Him complaining about MobileMe
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/517741/ - Another thread of him complaining about MobileMe
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/517045/ - Another thread of complaining but this time about the iPhone activation problems
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/508421/ - This is a good one. Starts a thread about the iPhone 3G Most Stated Complaints
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/485498/ - Complaining about iCal

Man, the list goes on

For someone who doesn't like complaining, you sure to complain a lot

you mean a forums just for posts like "oh Im so happy", again and again and again and again and again and again?

why bother, just stop visiting here. You don't need to worry about other people's problem, but to demand victims be happy is kinda dictatorial, don't you think?

seems logical. this way, all the whin...i mean people having issues can post there.
