on the contrary, no.

correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't there forums set up for this?

iphone forum
iphone troubleshooting forum

mac osx forum
mac osx troubleshooting forum

why can't there be a MobileMe forum and a MobileMe troubleshooting forum?

seems logical. this way, all the whin...i mean people having issues can post there.
1. there is no mac osx troubleshooting forum
2. out of all apple products board at MR. obly iphone has that troubleshooting one
3. did you not see any complain in 'iphone' board?
4. you are asking ppl who has problem to shutup. its not a problem of openning a new board.

1. well, if you click on "forum spy" and view the preferences...there is a check-box that says clearly "mac osx troubleshooting".

2. i guess i agree....but i was going off forum spy...since that's all i use

3. what?

4. no, not asking anyone to shut up. i'm actually sticking up for MM and stating MY case......just like everyone else. i'm on of the 99% of the users of MM who experience no problems with mail. it's great! in fact, why you're all arguing with me is beyond me. i'm praising the quality of MM! but, normally all the people who want to whine post in forums.....not many people who are happy post about it. i just wanted to take some time out today and voice my SATISFACTION with MM. hope it stays that way for me!!!!

I just wondered what was happening, that's all

I haven't had mail since Friday. Whether or not I'm part of the 1% (and if it really is 1% or not) isn't really the problem for me; knowing what the problem is and whether or not I will ever get my mail back (and when) is the only thing I care about.

Anyone have any idea?

You sure have an "elegant" way of voicing your satisfaction.

i guess this is MM forum is just for people to vent and complain.....maybe MacRumors should make two MM forums...one for MM users and one for MM-issues.

Those of you who complain "i'm losing so much money in my life/business because i can't access my mail".....you should have been smarter.

it's a stupid business and/or financial move to rely solely on one mail account. live and learn i say.

Those who complain they lost data or contacts.........again, live and learn i say.

sorry your data was erased and/or lost....but that's why they invented time machine or other data management/backup functions.

i'm really sorry. they must be some of the unlucky 1%.

You are very happy? go buy some APPL stock and quit bugging people who are still in bad situation.

I personally do not believe that this problem is restricted to 1% of the population not because of the number of posts stating problems but rather the timing of them. If you take the time to read the posts you will see a lot of people post how long their problems have lasted and you can combine this with the posting time to see exactly when people had trouble. Believe me it is NOT the same time for everyone. I myself had my email go down on Sunday and was lucky enough for it to come back a few hours later. This shows that the problem is not a static one.

However as we all know the 1% statistic has been around on apples support pages for more than a few days and i have not seen enough change to convince me that it is being constantly updated. This leads me to believe that this is an estimate by apple taken from the start of the issue to acknowledge the existence of a problem rather than an accurate reckoning to provide customer information.

My opinion also seems to be supported by the lack of information put forward by apple as to why this has occurred. It shows either incompetence to the degree that the reason is not understood by technicians after 5 days, which I find unlikely, or a complete disinterest in customer support and satisfaction which I have never before associated with this company.

It is therefore understandable that many with problems would be frustrated and driven to discussion with others in a similar situation and this forum would be an appropriate place. However, I do not see why someone without problems or an inclination to offer support would enter a thread, so obviously filled with these affected people, just to insult them and tell them they are unnecessarily whining. It shows a highly developed ego and enormously undeveloped intelligence to believe that your insults will stop people from feeling upset.

Now to the people still experiencing difficulties. I know my example will not help assuage your anger but in my case the mail page of the online mobile me app did eventually reappear and other devices were once again able to connect. This at least suggests the problem is not permanent and you will eventually receive the service you have paid for. However I still find the "push" services to be sporadic at best while other features are lacking prompting me to agree with many of you that this past week has not been acceptable from a company held in as high a regard as Apple.

Htrig ... why do you blindly/ faithfully support a company which is/has begun caning its customers I am so bugging over thier patent failures & having too pick up pieces & alter business practises too accomadate thier massive ego launches /upgrades chill be cool launch when stable is all we want..... BORG/ BORG sadly
they ffffffffffffffooked up it is there fault let them learn?do not serve blindly!
Also can i have working mail?

Im sorry if i have given you this impression. I did not intend it and I thought I had worded my post to reflect that on the whole. If not can you please direct me to where i say we should support apple. The closest I thought i came was to say

This at least suggests the problem is not permanent and you will eventually receive the service you have paid for.

The key words being "suggests" and "eventually" I do not think it is right and I apologize for my fortune in retrieving my mail.

Well, at least I get a message telling me "Your MobileMe email is currently unavailable" when I log in through the me.com portal now. I used to just get blank space.

It's no longer a blank page on Mobile Me Mail, but a message saying that the service is unavailable.

Whilst it's still annoying that I am about to enter a fifth day with no mail, at least this is better than the scariness of a randomly blank page.

I would recommend everyone makes a copy of Home>Library>Application Support>Mail, just in case anything weird happens when it comes back on line (i.e. if they lost any data, it would kill your local copy when it syncs).

Actually, it's Home>Library>Mail. But yeah, backing up is a good idea.

Want to see some great MobileMe irony? Just so happens, this is the last message I have in my mailbox...

I just want to understand what is really going on here? For the people who say they haven't had mail in 4-5 days are you referring to retrieving mail from the MM site or Apple's Mail.app or both?
There should be no reason for anyone to not have been able to get their email from their Mac desktop. I'm not referring to anyone using a Windows PC because MM mail was only available to you just under 2 weeks ago, I'm asking legacy .Mac users.

.Mac mail user here -- cannot receive .Mac/Me mail with MM web, no mail on Mail.app, no mail with Entourage, no mail with Mail2Web. Also, no mail using Outlook. This has been true continuously since 7/18.

DotMac user here as well. I'm using a desktop mac, macbook pro and iphone. No email sync'd to desktop or notebook in over two weeks (I was on vacation last week, both were off and that's probably why). The iphone shows email up until last Thurs and nothing since.

Funny things I've noticed...when I open the mail app, it seems to lock up (I suspect cause it's trying to pull mail?). My iphone battery is almost draining daily but didn't used to (again, I suspect because it's constantly trying to check for email?).

.Mac user here. I have not received any email anywhere for nearly 5 days (although I can send from the desktop client).

No email since Friday

Hello. I less concerned about whether Apple are the accomplices of Satan spinning a huge PR machine than I am about wanting to know ... well, how long is this going to go on for? I haven't had mail since Friday and I can't find out - online, by phoning Apple, by reading a great many threats on a great many chat forums - when they think they're going to fix it.

At least there's an alert coming up when I go to mail now (it was just a blank screen before), but if anyone knows anything about how long all this is expected to go on, that'd be utterly delightful.

The One Percenters

I wonder if Steve will get the email I've sent...?
Dear Steve,

It's been over a week now and still no evident progress in resolving the 1% (sic) problem which requires a 100% solution.

Withdrawing into your 'ivory tower' is no way forward. Two things, apart from the lack of service, are seriously and unforgiveably wrong here.

The first is the lamentable lack of communication from a worldwide communication company with your resources. How for example will you let me and the rest of the "one percenters" know when we have a service again? How can you hold your clients / customer base in such obvious disdain and disregard? It is your corporate indifference that gets me. Your behaviour over this matter smacks of a company that's going out of business.

The second is how you could manage to miss a such fundamental building brick of any new system / project such as testing and reiteration, before release? Why take away the old pit prop before you have established the capabilities of the new.

Dot Mac/ mac.com worked, it wasn't broken...why fix it? (another fundamental)

You really have to come clean, this is not a minor incident. The only response we want is information that's current and specific and a quick restoration of service.

Your support by the way, stinks!

It was working fine a few hours ago, I was getting mail, I uploaded a few albums to the Gallery. Of course, the joy was short lived. I can't even sign in anymore! Damn you Apple ... I really want to give you my $99 every year, but the way things are going, I'd want another free extension before I could do that!

Dear Steve,

It's been over a week now...

Wow -- normally I don't advocate harsh tactics, but I actually agree with what you've said...

Where did you e-mail this to? Someplace that you think will really get through to him?..

Maybe it would be most effective if disgruntled Me customers were to band together & put it in print somewhere that will have an impact beyond the virtual community --
like, for instance, the New York Times....

-actually I take it back -- probably better to send it to Walter Mossberg, who loves Apple -- AND isn't afraid to tell it like it is when necessary. (and he can get away with it, because Jobs knows that Mossberg is an Apple booster)

For me it's neither online at the MM site nor through Mail.app.
