It's a BIG Yay from me after having used it for more than a week now.

I was not particularly impressed when Apple showed off the iPad in January. I was not planning to buy one on launch day, but went to a nearby Bestbuy to check it out that day morning. It just took 5 minutes for me to realize that iPad is an amazing device. Even though Bestbuy had iPads in stock, I resisted myself to not buy one immediately, and wait for a few weeks to make sure that there are no "Generation 1" sort of issues.

My resistance lasted only for a couple of hours and I caved in :D. I went to the Apple store and bought one.

iPad fits perfectly between my iPhone and Macbook Pro usage. In fact, I find myself not using my Macbook Pro as much as before. I may even decide against buying a 15" and go with a 13", once the Macbook Pros are refreshed.

Jobs was all absolutely correct when he said in January, that people will love the iPad once they hold it and start using it

Sold mine.

LIked it, but back to the computer.

Kind of miss it the past few days. But if anything the Ipad makes it easier for web surfing to suck away my time which can be a problem. :)

I am thinking about 3g though. Hhhhmm.....

I guess one peeve was the 1.0 nature of the device. It was a good 1.0 version, but it seems a bit incomplete. Scrolling down a long page in Safari? Pain in the ass. Didn't load webpages all that fast. Wasn't bad, but still frequent checkerboard. Seemed a bit slower when 1 room away from router.

And this file system stuff. ..Takes some getting used to.

And I hated typing on it. Good for a few words, but not for a post like this one. I suppose a dock could have cured that, but then I would be sitting at a table/desk like I am now.

Otherwise I was telling myself to wait until I get to my Mac to type long posts. A flaw for me.

And prices of software. OUch. I was hoping for the under $5 iPhone apps. I can see $10 for Pages maybe, but $13 for this Element app? And $10 for hi-res versions of iPHone games? The outrageous price of the WSJ? Another fail.

Then there's the though that this doesn't completely replace books. NOt if I want to read outside. Or at the beach. You can't give books to friends or receive books from friends.

And there's that extra responsibility with the iPad that comes with having a $500+ 10" portable designer consumer electronics device. You have to be careful of setting it down. BE mindful of it being stolen when out and about. And if you have kids gotta make sure they don't destroy it.

IF I lose a $15 book it's no big deal.

I did like couch surfing and couch email though. Nice.

Video was nice too, but with hdtvs around and not much desire to watch video out of the house don't care. iPOd does video as it is and is fine for those times I want to watch video out of the house.

I do with my Mac had the NYT editor's choice app. OR the ABC app. Hell many of these apps I wish it had.

I wish the Mac could boot up the iPHone OS for those times you just want a really fast primary task experience.

Thumbs up.

It's still $500 minimum... but, thumbs up.
I think Apple should have priced them at $399, $499 and $599 instead. With $40b in the bank, Apple could be more aggressive on pricing.

I agree, they would have seen sell through numbers double what they have seen so far I'll bet.

Otherwise a big yay for me, wish it was 3G but might wait on V2 to go 3G, I can tether for now when I need to, which isn't too often.
