But, this year the sales started right from the start for the N9 and S9 due to poor sales. They usually start after a month or so on previous models.
Fair point I guess. At the end of the day though, I don’t think it matters a ton. Samsung is still a thriving company with sizeable market share in pretty much every product category. Their OLED alone, and the companies that source panels from them, keeps the company thriving in the mobile market.

I don’t have a problem with “following the crowd”. To some extent that’s the way of the world. Everybody has their criteria and value system. Mine is the quick and easy ability for FaceTime (now Group FaceTime in iOS 12.1 and iMessage.) I enjoy using my device and with 40 extended family members with iPhones we all keep in contact easily.

But if we are discussing design, it goes deeper than looks with consumer grade electronic devices. Attractiveness is still subject however.
lol.....you're just gonna keep debating even when you were proven wrong....
i think your whole position is debatable and subjective and some what hyperbolic in nature.....but thats is by design on your part.

Yes...we were discussing design....while it is subjective....it is still based on visual attractiveness.

Kind of like how they announced the Apple watch before Samsung did, but Samsung beat them to the punch? LOL

Apple does innovate some stuff, but Samsung tends to copy them and come out with it faster (even though it's less good), than them.
So you don't have any sources?
Didn't apple publish the idea though 1-2 years ago? LOL.
So what examples are Apple's innovation? Just curious what you think they are innovators at?

You do know that Apple copies too right? They ALL copy from each other....

The innovating just doesn't stop. Some OEMs rushed to 7nm just to be first, but Samsung being the processor giant that it is, choose to get it right by going EUV. Again, Samsung innovating benefits the whole industry, not just itself. Respect.

Nice forehead and chin.
Phone screens too small for realistic use of a pressure stylus. Cramps thinking, Design, and finished product. Need a tablet.
Only my opinion but I’ll take my 36 years of traditional and electronic experience.

Again missing the point... .... The point being that sales and profit mean nothing when we are talking about innovation and features.

Actually you are.
Someone brought up how much they could get their note 9 for. So the discussion was for sales as well.

WIKI is your source. You know how to use google right?

Apple in 2011 had the watch idea, and even the blueprints.

funny how sensors under the screen is innovation but faceID itself is not.

Fail ID isn't an innovation since it evolved from a now defunct Microsoft Kinect from 2010 Xbox 360 and from a security standpoint it has far too many issues with false positives allowing people unrelated to you to unlock your phone.

Retina and fingerprint can even distinguish twins which is a known weakness of Fail ID.

ahhhh from 2010......interesting since just about all those things Apple sued for were thrown out and invalidated

Then did you read the part where i said THEY ALL COPY FROM EACH OTHER?

Oh...so do the same thing with the current iPhone Xs. Do you have one? Take it swimming and post a video with it under water....

The s5 if you recall had a removable back. It wasn't as water resistant as they said. I have taken my phones under water now without any issues. But I never did that till the most recent phones.

Either way, Samsung copied more from Apple than Apple copied from Samsung. EOD. The proof I posted is enough.

You didn't prove your point either. So don't even try to think that.

My company copies the entire industry (playgrounds), who all copy each other. It's the nature of being in a competitive market. Company A creates, company B reacts. This arguing one company copies another and vice versa is nothing more than a pissing contest.

Again, this is not a big deal. Samsung copies Apple. Apple copies Samsung. Toyota and Honda copy each other. Coke and Pepsi copy each other. Who cares?

You can’t prove subjectivity wrong, which is the point. If one post relating to that are deemed hyperbolic, they all are. Saying it does not make so however.

Then you never did answer what "stuff" you thought was Apple innovation?

Precisely.....my point exactly.....design is subjective and based on personal tastes......

Because product designers (and companies as a whole) are always trying to design (then bring to market) the ugliest (purely subjective mind you) products they can! Then they can market those products as such.....
they all know the buying masses all based they buying decisions on reverse aesthetics (buy the ugliest product).
That is why they hire the ugliest models and spokes people to tout those products on TV and in print.
I mean aesthetics (products designed to be visually appealing) have nothing to do with sales of those products either.....
I mean look at packaging....companies don't spend super big bucks on package design either......
They want their ugly products in equally ugly packaging....../s

But of course all that is subjective......

And yet the galaxy line had security issues with biometrics over the years, and there is no widespread reports of financial fraud resulting in this supposed unlocking by failed Face ID Authentication.

Many of these supposed videos were shown to be fake news with passwords being entered to authorize a second face.

Absolutely. The perceptions, quality and value of designs are completely subjective. At the same time companies design their products as they see fit.

Subjective means absolutely nothing. Either enough amount of people like a design or they don't. If it's found that the majority likes a design, that's what a company will work with and stick with, until consumers are over it.

If as Jamezr postulated, subjective is the biggest factor in the phone selection process.

The note 9 already has enough screen real estate and so does the iPhone X. What benefit will it bring to the galaxy line to get rid of the already minimal bezel? How is this innovation?
Putting all the sensors and cameras under the screen isnt innovation for you?? Far more innovative than Apples giant notch. Im sure Apple fans will still say they prefer the notch, until the day Apple implement the same tech and then it will be the best thing ever, history will repeat itself once again. So predictable.
