If only there wasn't the 14 day waiting period. Obviously just enough time to deal with the thousands of requests they are going to get.

I know where my SIM is as I use it for activations after jailbreaking, but signal, will have to go for a little drive to find that

It'll be a totally automated procedure, I imagine that's a "covering themselves" period, it'll probably happen within a day or two.

Yes, that's probably true. Guess it would only take longer if details didn't match up and took them some time to resolve.

Wonder what the spike in requests will be like for the next 24-48 hrs on the unlocking service. Would be interesting to know (and maybe just a tad sad as well)

Most people won't know anything about it.

It's only the weirdoes who lurk on forums all day who will be registering.

I have a 3Gs direct from Apple on a Simplicty deal that i have had for 2 years, I also got the reject email. What shall I do?

I'll have to try doing this before I get rid of it (when it comes to upgrading).

When I do upgrade, I'll be buying my next phone on Vodafone, because O2 has a utterly horrible network.

I can confirm that if you bought a pay&go phone you wil only be able to unlock it when your 12 months are up.

My pay&go 3g does not come to the end of it's 12 months until 15 December. I never use my pay&go sim as I use my work O2 sim, so I thought I would giv the website a try.

This is what I got back:

Good evening Peter

Thanks for emailing us about unlocking your iPhone.

Peter, I'm sorry but the iPhone can't be unblocked from our network. If you attempt to unlock your iPhone and use it on another network, it may become permanently unusable. This is because making unauthorised modifications to the software on your iPhone violates the iPhone software license agreement.

I hope I have explained this clearly and have a nice day.

If you need further information about this matter, please reply to this email. For further details about O2, please visit our online Help Centre at:

Kind regards

Runa

I'm goign to ring their customer services to confirm when I can unlock it.

***Edit***

So spoke to customer services, and I can unlock after the 15 December, which is when my 12 months are up. So anyone that has a pay&go no matter what sim they use will have to wait the full 12 months to unlock their iphone.

Confirmed the above.

Filled the form and i seem to have been denied. Bought the phone PAYG but never used the PAYG sim and have been using my 2yr+ old Simplicity SIM. Meh...i'll just use the alternative method when i'm ready to dump it, im unlikely to be using an iPhone in 6 months anyway

I'm gonna have to try this!

Has anyone else managed to get there iPhone unlocked?

What sim have you used? I was thinking of using my Orange sim with blackberry data. (Data might work?)

I've got 7 month old pay and go so will have to wait 5 months before O2 unlock. BUT supposing I lock to Orange now, what unlocking policy are they having ?

confused

I'm currently a iphone pay-monthly customer but "upgraded" using one of O2's options of buying a new PAYG 3GS when it came out. From all the threads it seems that they (O2) are refusing to unlock PAYG phones on simplicity plans unless they've been on the network for a year...does this apply to people using iphone plans as well? if the same applies, it sounds downright fraudulent! i paid £460 for the phone and a £10 top-up as mandatory when i bought the phone and if this is the treatment i get for following their OFFICIAL suggestion, i will definitely be kicking up a big fuss!

I had a PAYG 3GS that I used with an iPhone contract SIM and they have unlocked it.

Are you telling me that I could by a PAYG 3GS, insert my monthly contract sim (which my brother has been using) and they will unlock the iPhone - meaning that he could take the sim back and me putting in my PAYG?

All I can tell you is that I bought a 3GS in June and put my Contract 3G SIM in it and activated it, I then sold my 3G. Whether this would still work I don't know. Sorry.

I bought a PAYG 3GS in September, never activated the PAYG SIM, just put my existing Simplicity SIM in it. (It was to replace my 18 month old iPhone 2G, used on same Simplicity SIM).

O2 have unlocked mine, about a week ago.

They are not applying either the 12 month rule or the £15 rule in this situation.

By the sound of the other thread, you're best just resubmitting the form.

actually I got the text within minutes of that post! For the first time I tried putting my o2 sim back in and connecting to itunes, don't know if its coincidence, but BOOM, got the text within seconds.

Am currently re-syncing 16gb of media back to the phone after a restore (to remove the jailbreak)
