I managed to use OCLP for MacPro3,1 with the latest version of 0.0.30. But I come to a blank screen during boot on the Mac Pro 3,1. When I tried to use Macbook Pro 2010, the Mac Pro ssd boots. Do I need to remove the BT card on the Mac Pro tower for it to work? Or what did I do wrong somehow? I did run the patch also. Cheers.

I tried with Mac OS Big Sur 11.6 using OLCP 0.0.30. The GPU I'm using is non-Apple GTX640, but it used to work in Catalina prior to the Big Sur upgrade. The system boots up with chime, and it seems the monitor knows the Mac Pro is on because it senses output from the HDMI, but it's just a blank screen. Ran the patch for hardware acceleration too for the graphics patch, to no avail :( Let me know if you need more info, I'll be more than happy to provide.

Greetings all.

I've been trying to install Big Sur via the OCLP method and I cannot replicate the process. I do not get a boot(EFI) menu when i reboot the system whilst pressing the 'Option' button.

I have a cMP 5,1 (2010 model) with a metal supported GPU (Vega 56) card and my bootrom is 144.0.0.0.0 and currently running Mojave.

I have created the USB (Install macOS Big Sur) media as per the instructions.

That is because, your GPU (Vega) is not compatible with Apple's EFI at boot time.
Apple's boot picker will only work with Mac flashed GPU's.

That is one "flaw" in OCLP method. Well it's not a flow as such but I think they state that requirement on their guide.

The workaround is that you need to add the old Mac compatible GPU (like the GT120) temporarily. When you press the Option key at power on, the Apple Boot picker will appear on the screen connected to the GT120, from there you select OpenCore and press Control+Enter. From that point onwards, OpenCore on the USB will be your default boot drive and the OpenCore Boot Picker will appear on the screen connected to your Vega.

I happen to have purchased a cMP which came with the ATI Radeon 5770 1GB OEM.

I believe with my Pixlex mod I can spare the 6 pin for the 5770 gpu but question is where does it fit into as the ports are already occupied and it won't fit near the Vega 56 and might even cause air flow / overheating issues even if it did I believe.

I have the raid slots 4 and 3 occupied. (See photo below)

Raid 4 - No idea what that is.

Raid 3 - 4x 2,1(or can't remember if it was 3,0) USB ports

Also i think i may have made an error by designating an external PCI SSD as my main drive for my mac. (Photo below).

It would be tough to add a another double-slot GPU into your set-up.

So without the 5770 but with the Vega, you are booting "blind" ?
That is, without the Apple/Mac Boot Picker ?

Which macOS are you booting ?

What is your "external PCI SSD" connected to ?

That last screen shot shows the text based OpenCore Boot Picker.
Text based OC menu usually means mis-configuration if you did not intend to it to be text-based.

Have you installed Opencore on the EFI Partition of the Main HD or the USB Stick ?

At least OpenCore is running and displaying it's menu on the screen connected to the Vega.
Post your config.plist file

I haven't tested or had a report from a Vega GPU but I am almost certain you will get a bootscreen if you implement with MyBootMgr or at least you should. Just use the Vega and don't mix and match GPus though.

I tried the first method in @cdf's thread 'OpenCore on the Mac Pro' thread https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/opencore-on-the-mac-pro.2207814/
and didn't get far in terms of results that i tried to replicate so gave up and moved to the OCLP method.

This is what i believe to be the one that i copied into the EFI folder on the USB drive.
You config file is totally borked.
It is not the one generated from OCLP since OCLP will put a signature comment as the first entry.
It looks like you tried to create it from scratch but have not fully populated it (e.g. there are no kexts like Lilu.kext added).
The whole point of OCLP is that is does the work of finding out what hardware you have and then generate a "canned" version of OpenCore config for your system so that you do not have to start from scratch.

You said you have booted Big Sur, yet you also said that you are trying to install Big Sur ...I am totally confused o_O.
What can you successfully boot at the moment WITHOUT OpenCore ???

For example, if you can successfully boot Mojave or Catalina, then while booted from that macOS, if you follow the step by step guide at https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/START.html then it will produce a bootable OpenCore USB.
Note: If you have already download the Big Sur Install App (in your /Applications folder), then you could skip the download step if you are confident that your download is good.

As I said earlier, the only issue you will have is booting that USB via Option key since your GPU is not Mac Flashed GPU but there's a workaround mentioned in the trouble shooting section of that guide (apart from using your 5770):

I only have Mojave installed :| Maybe that's where I missed the beat. I should have installed Mojave on the USB Disk (Disk 2 according to CDF's post).

It's OK to have Mojave on the HDD or SSD as your current working boot disk. Installing Mojave on USB disk adds no value....only speed degradation.
Ideally, you then take a second disk onto which you would install Big Sur via the USB Installer.

no, that's not what cdf's post suggest at all... the instructions specify that you should have a working Mojave install (i.e., on an internal HDD/SSD) to boot from initially and then in the event of emergency. there is no mention of installing any working OS onto a USB drive and, as MacNB2 pointed out, there would be no benefit to doing so...

Martin has a video that shows you how to do that here.
Basically, take the OCLP generated config.plist file and Add an entry in the ACPI section:
(I use PlistEdit Pro to edit config.plist files )

Screen Shot 2021-11-04 at 15.19.38.png
Then, copy the SSDT-TBOLT3.aml into EFI/OC/ACPI folder:

And, reboot

The progress bar stop at the boot and when you restart you get the same as Opencore with SSDT using thunderbolt apollo

I just did an install of 12.01 on a CMP 4,1 (flashed to 5,1) with OCLP 0.31. I also have an upgraded wifi/bluetooth BCM943602CDP installed. Wifi and bluetooth work when I boot into my Mojave install. But on Monterey I only have wifi. Bluetooth shows up, but I can enable it, it shows off no mater what I try.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Edit: Well, I decided I was going to do another clean install since the current one was done with the old wifi card/bluetooth. Shut down the MacPro to pull all my other drives out so the Monterey installer didn't modify the APFS volumes. Booted back into Monterey to be sure it was the only disk present and what do you know, the bluetooth was enabled! Reboot a few times, yup still good. Power down and put the other drives back in, still good... ?‍♂️

Does anyone have a fully functioning Mac Pro 4.1 with Monterey 12.0.1 and OCLP 0.3.1 internal? It's only like this for me with Big Sur 11.6.1, so far everything has been going well without any problems.

Ok thanks but how to get the automatic reboot like opneocre Martin Lo

What do mean by "automatic reboot" ?
If you mean "how do I automatically boot my chosen OS without Opencore boot picker showing" then set Timeout value to 0 in the config.plist
