IMO, Pixel 2 XL is too expensive for what it is. The 128gb version, is basically Note 8 price. But I actually love the design, especially the white version.

The Google Home Mini is a must have for me.

Impressed with the Google Home Max.

The new Pixel book is drool worthy. Lack of SD slot was a slight letdown.

Google Clips had my interest, until I seen the price. Love the concept though.

I wish Google Pixel Buds was completely wireless. I wonder how good the language translation works.

Love the way Google is going with product integration.

Google knocked it out the park. This keynote was stellar. Everything looked great and really well thought out in terms of hardware and software.

I know it’s like the universal translator.

This is where I think Apple has lost the plot.

Technology is an enabler, not a destination in itself.

Compare real time language translation to making stupid faces with poop emoji. Which adds more to your life and brings the world together?

My first thought - this will enable a lot of future relationships between people who don't speak the same language.

It’s really hard to hate people and want to go to war when you can connect to them on a more personal level.

I hope this technology flourishes. It could actually change how the world interacts.

my Apple concerns center around
  1. Apple services are sorely lacking (outside iMessage)
  2. Apple appears to only make real learning improvements yearly (instead of serious AI companies which update their services as they go
  3. As phones become black slabs, software innovation is going to be the differentiator and the current AI offering from Google is 100x better than Apple.
my Android concerns center around
  1. The vast majority of phones don't get update in a timely manner
  2. The messaging system on Android is still kind of a mess

The Pixel handles most of my issues just fine.

I was actually really amused by the talking poop when Apple introduced it for the iPhone X. I just think AR stickers are even more cool. Okay, now that you’re heard from my inner 8 year old, I have to add that I’ve renewed my interest in Android due to iOS 11 growing harder to figure out and less intuitive, even as it grows more feature rich (which I like).

I was especially alarmed to see they have not one, not two, but three different ways to reset your iPhone depending on whether you’re on an iPhone 7 or older, iPhone 8/8Plus or iPhone X.

It’s like they introduced a level of complexity to solve design problems they didn’t need to have, if only they’d found some way of keeping a home button on the iPhone X. But I can see they didn’t want to, and that’s fine. But they probably confused the issue making an iPhone 8 at all. Or trying to pretend the IPhone 8 is a completely different animal from an iPhone 7 or 6s or 6. And again, I understand why they made the IPhone 8 and I’m glad they did. It’s such an awesome phone and a great upgrade for so many people, and I seriously considered it for myself. But ideally, this should be a year devoted to the new paradigm. They just weren’t ready to implement that. So 2017 has a bit of a cobbled together awkward feel. It’s a mix of “wow, amazing” and “uh, wtf, awkward.”

They’re just being so screwy about so many details at which they used to excel. Overall, we are an Apple household and remain committed to Apple products for quite some time to come. And I just know Google screws up, too. But it is clearly important to stay fluent and comfortable with the competition.

The animoji is just a showcase of their computer vision and depth sensing capability. Those sensors really are years ahead of the competition, and will further their ARKit push quite a bit. It was a silly demo, for sure, but very technically impressive.

The translation thing is cool, but I started to think "When was the last time, in my life, I could have used this?". I travel a lot, and have never felt held back by translation issues. Google Translate works well on my iPhone, if needed. I would guess 90% or more of people that would buy these headphones will never have a real opportunity to use that function.

Interesting. A tech demo which has no practical application and exists simply to showcase a hardware component is impressive but real-time translation which IS practical is not.

Didn't say it was not impressive, but Google translate has always been impressive. I think one technology will have VERY wide-spread use in the coming years, and the other is a niche. That said, Google will come up with other uses for this technology I am sure.

The live translation is nothing short of spectacular. That being said, the poop emoji equivalent in the Google keynote was the stupid "Stranger Things" demo

The live translation was very cool for sure, but is it any different than what’s presently available using your phone? The only difference appears to be the audio translation being played through your earbuds instead of the phone’s speaker. Am I missing something?

Nope. Think that’s about it.

Thanks for posting that! Wow I am glad to see that the Pixel 2XL is not bigger than my 7 Plus. Goodness the Note 8 looks huge! But it wasn't too intimidating when I saw it in person.

My husband is on the phone with AT&T trying to get my Apple Watch activated since our attempts failed and we also need to activate my daughter's. It's not going well. He's almost starting to yell. He's the nicest man ever so he's holding it back but man are they pushing him. They're trying to charge us $200 in fees to terminate the Samsung watch lines. Wtf? Why on earth charge us fees when we are simply trading one set of watches for the other. We can't have both on our plan. We are limited to ten devices total and he has his parents on our account for some reason I decided is none of my business. And now the lady is telling us to go to the At&T store after having us on hold for over an hour. Oh boyzees. Now he's on hold for a supervisor.

I wanted to try T Mobile or Project Fi for the pixel. He said no but I think he's now sorely tempted! :p

Whoa he's smooth. He got us $30 off our bill each month and unlimited data! Now I definitely can keep two lines for myself guilt free and stay bi-OS-ual. Android and iOS--nothing kinky;)

Going by that pic I like the Xl2 best, I dont like the thin and tall screen direction Samsung is going
