Will people just STOP whining about Merom's in MB's and MBP's its getting VERY VERY VERY VERY old.

I've got my Macbook and I'm happy.

Our survey says you'll see Merom macbook pro's in Jan / Feb when Santa Rose logic boards come on stream and they've made their money's worth as the Pro product line will be a year old.

PS
I've got my Macbook and I'm happy. I'll be damned if I'm gonna see the 10% difference in performance considering this is my first Mac

Good for you. Now why are you here, again?

Because I read these forums and just find all this drooling over Meroms ridiculous.

It's given that the iMac and Mac Mini's are the hardware thats been around the longest.

I've seen people contemplating the Macbook getting Merom's. Geez it only got launched in May  . All the write up's show that you won't get the benefit out of Merom till the Santa Rose logic board is available. If you really want Merom wait till then or if you don't suck it up and give Apple your $$$.

Just everyone needs to take a chill pill -_-;;;;

Or you could simply realize this thread was created in jest, and take a chill pill yourself.

I find it amusing that you would specifically come into a thread for people who just want to vent and joke about their precious MBP's or MB's not being updated yet to tell them to get over it. If people have been waiting this long for merom, I doubt your advice is going to change anyone's views about whether they should wait even longer for santa rosa.

Everyone "sucks it up" eventually, whether they wait or not. I'm waiting for merom in my MBP. I'll "suck it up" then, thanks.

Define "benefit". Having full support for Leopard rather than some arse backwards "backward compatibility mode" is good enough benefit for me. Likewise same if the next rev actually comes with magnetic latches and easy replaceable hard drives. You know, the innovative designs that made their way into the CHEAPER Macbook?

Jeez.

Hahaha, try April.

Then again seeing as to how Apple is always behind I wouldn't be surprised to see it come out in WWDC 07!

Happy waiting till then.

We won't stop whining until it comes out...sorry.

That's not true... when everyone is dissappointed because of the lack of a new case design, no user replaceable HDD, no graphics update, no FW800, no DL optical drive, no magnetic latch, no black aluminum option, etc... they are still going to whine

Dell put Core 2 Duo on its front page quite some time ago. Try configuring a machine with either Merom or Conroe, and you will see the estimated ship date two weeks from today. Apple is not behind, they just want to announce when shipping.

I'd still buy a MBP with Yonah in it now. The performance gains are minimal and Yonah is a great chip. I honestly don't understand what all the fuss is about - for the vast majority of people having a Yonah or a Merom is going to make absolutely zero difference to their day to day computer usage.

Yeah, but at this point why not wait?

If any of is looking to buy, and are located in NYC, I'm selling my 15" MBP 2.0ghz, current specs, matte lcd, etc.

Purchased over the summer for a post-prod gig that got delayed. Never "broke the seal" so I decided to cut my losses and sell this off. Been posting on craigs and such, but PM me if you're interested.

selling at a good deal! :)

Buy the Core Duos at the Dell Store!

Leopard is just over the horizon so don't settle for a the little 32-bit inferno that couldn't!

I see myself buying a yonah macbook because the merom ones won't be eligible for the ipod promotion. so why don't I buy it today and get the waiting over with??

but...
I keep thinking about that .000001% chance that the new macbooks might be eligible.

OH GOD !!! WHAT DO I DO?!?!?!

buy it now apple knows a lot of student are going to buy the macbook there is no way in hell they would release the merom on it before the rebate. The macbook pro is another story since it is a pro class laptop there are less students buying it. So I say buy it if you want the rebate or wait if you don't.

What if the model you want price drops? Use the money you save to buy your poddywoddy.

Edit: What the hell is a poddywoddy, am I drunk?

Uhh Leopard will run on older machines what are you talking about

Ok Us Students Time To Buy

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/231069/

well I guess if you still want the rebate better buy the old yonah computers before they come out with the new ones. Cause apparently in the US the new imacs don't qualify for the ipod rebate. I guess the time to buy is now unless you don't want the free nano.

Not necissarily. Updated Macbooks would not qualify for the iPod offer, so even if they did release it, there would be incentive for students to buy the current revision and help move inventory.

Monday is the day

They will release MacBook Pro's next monday, all with core 2 duo and a 160 gig hardrive availible. Any sooner, that would be great...later than that I will join the rest of the whiners. Like someone said earlier, there won't be any fancy upgrades other than that. The most realistic "dream" upgrade would be the addition of the ATI x1800.

I'm so tired of hearing this argument, for one every little bit of extra processing power really helps your comp stay competetive that much longer. And a 10 to 15 percent increase in power really makes a difference to a lot of users. It your knocking out a 30 second animation and each frame takes 10 min to render, your looking at a 150 hr rendertime. Knock 15% off of that and you've save 22.5 hrs, almost a whole day! This is an extreme example, (common for me though) but even things a lot smaller add up to a lot of saved time.

Then why is Apple shipping Merom based iMac's in 1-2 days?

For me it doesn't really matter as a "play" user but for work perhaps it might be beneficial to have the extra speed

I'm a film student and a poor one at that so any advantage I can get would be great. I will only beable to buy one computer for my whole time at college so if merom could come out it'd be that much nicer to have so perhaps it might last just a little longer than yonah...

The funnier thing is Apple may even have the upped MBPs ready and sitting in their warehouses, just waiting for the right day to release. For all you know someone might have figured that releasing them with the consumer Macs will "steal their thunder" or something. I am sick of all these Apple propaganda crap, they don't need to try and get into our minds, we will buy it already. God damned it

Please reframe from posting images of me. kthx. lawl.

Anyway, I''m tired of waiting, but again, it's so close to coming I just CAN'T buy one now. I would feel horrible having it. I need a MBP soon for a school video editing project that just can't be done on my iMac. I'm not sure on the due date, but it's sometime in October, so I would need the Computer Mid September which is soon so I'm hoping that it's tomorrow, or on the 12th at the latest. Because honestly, if the time comes where I need to start editing the video, I don't know what I'm going to do.

So, please apple for me and my marks, let's see the baby tomorrow.

I just wish we had a little insight to if there would be a chance for a Merom before October... That was the guess I heard once and now I'm starting to fear it really is...

What is the Paris Expo? Like the 17" MBP was released at that National Assocaiton of Broadcasters or something like that so is Paris Expo like about Photography or anything? Maybe then I'd believe it'd be comming out...
