So who is getting up and going straight to their computer to store.apple.com to hopefully see Store is Down.....

i regretfully know that I am a slave to my always disappointing addiction.

You mean Monday morning? Stranger things have happened, but I doubt anything will happen Monday morning. Prove me wrong apple and release C2D MBP's.

Our survey says you'll see Merom macbook pro's in Jan / Feb when Santa Rose logic boards come on stream and they've made their money's worth as the Pro product line will be a year old.

Do you know anything? Santa Rosa is the codename for the Core 2 Duo revision that will follow the Merom revision. Santa Rosa (as I understand it) is going to use a new socket, which of course will not be compatable with Merom. Also its not like Apple has the choice between Yonah and Merom. Yonah is out of production and Merom is in full swing.

The problem with long time Apple fans is they are not used to having cutting edge ever improving technology. That is the reason Apple has never been mainstream.

even though it's 64 bit and has 4 cores, the motherboard is still 32 bit isn't it? i'm not sure but if that's correct that will mean it doesn't even show the true potential. so who cares- get yonah, be happy with the speed. do a little dance.

That would make addressing more than 4GB of RAM pretty hard...

He apparently knows more than you. Santa Rosa is not the codename for the C2D revision following Merom. It's the name for the platform that will succeed the current Napa platform. Santa Rosa is a platform comprised of a Merom processor, Crestline chipset, and Kedron wireless solution. Merom will be the processor used in Santa Rosa. Penryn is the codename for the next multi-core mobile processor after Merom.

As poppe has stated a few times, I'm getting on the Sept. 26th (Photokina) bandwaggon for the last reasonable date to release C2D MBP's. If it goes beyond that, I'm looking at buying a yonah MBP.

You are so easily blackmailed :)

I'd boycott their outdated lines altogether and get something else.

I'm surprised no one's complained today! Another event and no MBP! :( Any hopes of a mention at Expo?

Oh wait... there's not supposed to be any positivity here. I'll just go feel sorry for myself and whine about how another year of college is nearly here and I am still notebook-less - of the metal kind, not the paper kind.

Not to mention the months and months of waiting, with all the money saved up and burning numerous holes in my pocket and stomach, I'm so sick with anticipation.

Oh, there's been tons of complaining, lots of angst, quite a few anygry back-and-forth posts... It's been a helluva day here for the C2D MBP needy.

A lot of college students still haven't started class yet though, so maybe we'll still see new MBP's by the end of the month (Photokina on the 26th would be my guess, but who knows at this point.)

Well - there have been so many threads complaining about the situation that this may have been short changed some. Start looking for 9/26.

HOWEVER - there could be a surprise earlier. Hahahahaha

Don't say it unless you mean it! I don't think I could handle any more disappointment. However, I've become so desensitized at the moment, I'm beginning to consider that Apple has broken me.

All I want to hear is positive things, like... tomorrow, the end of the week, next week at the latest?

hopefully .. I don't have to see "Wait for Santa Rosa or buy" thread soon after Merom MBP comes out...
then people may argue that use of NAND flash memory w/ hard disk is revolutionary step forward and worth waiting for...

Then when Santa Rosa platform comes out.. perhaps another of this "Wait for ---- or buy" thread... in there.. people may argue that flash memory hard disk is worth waiting for..
oh then quad cores cpu... dual core gpu... 1024 bit computing.. oh yeah..
let's wait...

I know.. at this time of year with Merom in market already, it's worth waiting for Merom MBP. :)
above coments are based on another MR member who started "waiting for Clovertown" as soon as Woodcrest Mac Pro came out.

just having fun myself :D

yeah I know i'm pathetic

Not me - I've got two weeks until school starts, and it's going to be a tough quarter if I don't have a new computer to depend on to do projects when the one I'm typing on has a collective 1G of space left.

I'm definitely not going to be one of those people. Merom alone isn't what's making me wait; I keep thinking, 'What if Apple decides to add a magnetic latch, extra RAM standard, more memory and other features, etc.?'

Santa Rosa will be the next big thing, but I'm not really interested in waiting to upgrade again. It's painful enough the first time, and as a student, I'm not going to really need that much power.

Come on apple, dont lose out on people

I'm mostly a linux user... and have been eyeing the 17" MBP.

Now, I can get an e1705 with:
1920x1200 resolution vs 1680 x 1050
7900 GS graphics vs x1600
Core2Duo vs Core Do (20% faster, increased battery life).
~ 2lbs heavier
Less of the 'coolness factor'.
Ships with an OS I really dont need.

Now apple,
You dont *need* to upgrade the resolution.
You dont *need* to upgrade the graphics.
You dont *need* to upgrade the processor.

But please... dont skip out on all 3.

I'm making an investment for a few years, and wouldn't want to get a 'top of the line' laptop that's only top of the line if you hold styling above everything else.

I think we can all forget about the silent update on the Tuesday before Photokina theory now...

But hopefully we'll see the Merom MBPs at the actual event :)

Yet another disappointing day then. Maybe they'll be announced at the actual event, but I don't think so. I'm pretty sure they're working on design issues & hopefully other updates. I don't mind the delays too much if so, but if they roll out just a chip replacement, I'm going to be very

I wonder how many people were interested in that "special" Photokina event, purely to glean some MBP news. This MBP delay is certainly ensuring a chunk of users are following every event possible with a frenzy. I recommend updating MBP at the very last possible moment! Make the most of the enslaved audience
