I've never posted to the "official" new member thread on any forum that I've joined. But, I decided to this time.

My fiance and I purchased our first Mac a few months ago. We love it, of course. I find this forum useful because I don't know much about the Macintosh computers and operating systems.

Little info....

Hello everyone, I'm pretty new here. I have a few posts under my belt, but I figure I'll do things right by introducting myself here. I've been a Mac user for almost 3 years now, and I've never had any problems.

One thing I don't understand is the sudden interest in Apple from PC users because of the Intel chip. When I switched over, it had nothing to do with the processor, but everything to do with the software. I see all these people claiming to have ordered the Macbook Pro as soon as they could. What's wrong with your Motorola chips? My G4 works just fine. It's the software that's kept me using a Mac. Just thought I'd share that.

I look forward to getting to know you guys soon. Thanks for having me.

Welcome to MacRumors, and War Eagle! I think that most of the excitement about the switch to Intel processors has to do with the anticipated performance benefit. There's a long-running joke here about people speculating when (if) we'd ever see a G5-based PowerBook from Apple, because Apple's notebooks were lagging behind the competition more and more.

P.S. A.U. Aerospace Engineering '92.

War Eagle, friend. I'm a Junior in History.

I understand the anticipated benefits and the need of having the latest technology. But me, I plan on using my iBook for a couple of more years. It's only a year old.

New member on the forums. I don't own a Mac but use one occasionally here in the office. I've been considering getting a Mac Laptop for some time now. Mostly because it comes with LAMP already installed and I figured for web development, if it works on a Mac, it's likely to work everywhere. I've become disenfranchchised with crap products coming out of the halls of Microsoft. I mean, I do have a PC, but my affinity towards Gates started downhill with my using of Firefox.

Anyway, good to be here. I tried joining the MacInsider forums, but it's been 24 hours since I registered and I'm still in a moderating queue. I think that's ridiculous, and this site seems to be more active and more of what I'm looking for. Kudos for Google...

Question. Why is my avatar that I've listed for my url not show up in me posts, but it shows up in me profile?

You must have at least 500 posts to use an avatar.

BTW, welcome to MacRumors!

No worries, you're new here, we understand. ;) :) But if you ask a question like that again, the response will be something more along the lines of this:

I actually expected a profanity laced reply in that case. While cutting it may be, at least it could become entertaining....

Glad to hear the site has been of some benefit for you already. If you have any questions, just ask, especially since you're hoping to get a Mac. Trust me, its a decision you won't regret.

I never said hello when I joined here LOL. I've been here a couple months. Better late than never I guess to say hello.

Hello, my name is Erik, I'm 15, and I live in the most boring state ever, Connecticut (although we do have 2 apple stores which is cool). I am in 9th grade and I am taking all honors courses (no AP available yet). I play lacrosse and premier soccer. Noncompetitvely, I do swimming and skiing. I have a PowerBook, iBook, and a Dell.

For everyone that is just joining, it is a nice little community. You'll enjoy it.

I am a MacRumors newb!

I have to admit with very little reluctance, I can't wait to kiss my pc goodbye!
My first Apple is gonna be a MacBook Pro. I need a serious laptop for my future courses of my junior and senior year in college. Recording Industry Management
demands Macs in school and the workplace. Of course, Pro-Tools is still the industry standard, but Logic Pro and Final Cut Studio are so much cooler! I am looking forward to the "Universal" art and music software to be released.

Hello fellow MR members, I'm sure this thread has seen a lot of newbies, most of them probably never came back, honestly I'm not sure if I'll be too active in this community. I just bought an iBook G4, my first Mac computer ever. Although I was able to format/re-install it without any problems as I have common computer sense, I'm sure I'll run into issues where I'll need a hand.

I searched for "Mac Forums" on google and found you guys. I can tell this community has a lot of nice people because I have some experience in running forums and helping others. I run MSFORUMS.ORG, which helps Microsoft based product users. But that's all just a hobby for me.

I have to say that I am loving my iBook. Mac Office, Photoshop CS, Toast Titanium, Chicken of VNC, oneButton FTP, Skype, MSN Messenger and yahoo messenger are some of the programs that I have already used on the mac and had no problems. I do regret the fact that I can't do voice on MSN or yahoo cross-platform, but Skype fixed that for me.

I'll post in the "what's your job" thread further about myself and what I do and why I need my iBook but for now, this is genesis for ya...

gen.

Hey, just discovered this thread!

So, I registered pretty much exactly 2 months ago, and only now saw this thread... I think I can sneak in just ahead of the deadline :)

Live in Los Angeles, CA, not far away from 2 Apple stores (The Grove and The Beverly Center). Film industry (what did you expect, it's LA!). My ibook (see sig) arrived Dec 22 and I've been mainlining Apple products ever since... you should see my cc bills :D

Honestly, don't know how long I'll participate in the threads... I'm between assignments right now, so I've got a bit of free time until the end of Feb... after that, I may not have the time to post much.

However, I love macrumors. I've looked at other boards (I won't mention names, ahem) and this is by far the friendliest, most diverse and interesting one I've seen yet. I love it here :) :) :) !!!

Hi, I'm Hannah. I'm a sophomore at a high school where everyone got an iBook. I play the tenor sax, which takes up most of my time....and life.
I'm also on the Apple Corps, which is a group of students acting as a tech support for the laptops.
Thank You.
