Oh, I didn't see this thread before. I joined two months ago, but I will make a nice introduction for myself :)

I am an engineering student at college, and I am a self proclaimed Apple Fanboy :) . I used to have a MacBook (2.0GHz G2D, 2Gb Ram), but this summer I decided to purchase myself a more powerful MacBook, so I bought a 15'' pro (2.0 GHz i5 with 4Gb ram) and just this past week I upgraded the ram to 8Gb (one of the best computer decisions I have made in a while). I have a a 16Gb WiFi+3G iPad (First generation), along with a white AT&T 16Gb iPhone 4.

I had actually been looking at MacRumor's front page for apple news for the past year or so, but it was just this past fall when I decided to browse around the forums. I really liked the atmosphere from what I could tell, and I definitely have an interest in Apple products (why the hell else would I be here then? haha). I plan on being here for a while!

Hi i'm Chris!

I'm a kid, but I really like computers. I just ordered a Macbook Pro (it's shipping right now and should be here monday! MY FIRST MODERN MAC!; see sig for details about it :D) but I collect older apple computers, preferably before the G5/Intel switch era. Look forward to being with you all :woo:!

Been reading the MacRumors entries for about 2 years now? So I finally decided to enjoy the forums. Hello from Australia!

I'm from Australia too mate :)

Hello all I am xf82517 :) Nice to be here and dribbling over my Mac Mini constantly. Although it's second hand I am finding I do most everything with it (photoshop, word processing, spreadsheeting, internet and randomly playing with databases)

I still need my Windows laptop for DVRing tv and playing recorded tv files though. :)

The only problem is I can't seem to get the DVI output to function out of my digital Samsung display. Oh well.

I've been lurking around and doing heaps of searching in this forum and others to find my problem, no luck yet! :)

What I love about the Mac it's just so friendly looking and easy to use. For the love of me on the first day I hooked it up I couldn't work out how to get the Info about my external hard drive, 2 hours later after exploring everything I managed to work out you can right click on it and click "Get Info"

MOD NOTE:

I just cleaned up all posts that don't fit the 2 month rule.

This will be a bit of a test... Another of these threads started with good intentions... but was soon taken over by regulars.

if you just joined MacRumors, reply and introduce yourself.

This is only for new Macrumors users... only users who registered within two months of the current date may reply...

All other users posts will be deleted. (moderators, please enforce this). This will be for myself included... only comments by truely "new" users will be allowed in this thread.

Discuss away...

(this could fail miserably if no one replies :) )

Hi, all...I'm....kinda new. Already posted about 20 times so far, but this thread somehow eluded me!

From 1993 until 2006 I was a die-hard Amiga user. 2006 was a rough year, though, as my wife and I were in the midst of a move across four states, and during that move my wife lost her job, so we were getting by on my income and several part-time jobs...one day the place where my wife and I were both part-timing they screwed up her payroll (and it was going to be a REALLY nice check!), and as a result I didn't have enough to pay the rent -- I'm sure we could have asked our landlady to give us a few days, but I didn't want to do that. I was planning to buy a used PC anyway to practice programming etc., so I sold my AmigaOne via eBay and got a LOT more than my asking price!

So....a year later after my wife got her current job and we were back on our feet and in better shape to spend once in a while, I wanted to get another AmigaOne. Problem: the reason I made a lot of money off the sale was that there was a huge demand for those, but production of the boards stopped about a year before. And I was having a dilly of a time looking for another one. But I needed something. And I really wanted a laptop, which to this day you can't really get in an Amiga (unless you emulate the older 680x0-based ones)...but I didn't want a Windows computer -- in fact, to this day, I've never given a cent to Microsoft -- and I couldn't find a bare laptop on which I could put Linux...plus, I was always the go-to guy whenever someone had computer problems (and I've since become a certified technician and do freelance computer work as a result!), and people would always ask, "Do you do Macs too?" Hmmm...I didn't. Maybe it was about time I learned.

So on December 27, 2007, I took a big risk and went to Best Buy and bought a white MacBook. Wow. Best purchase decision I EVER made. (Only problem: Amiga had Directory Opus...Mac doesn't have it -- which is why I'm currently making an equivalent out of Java. :) ) LOVED IT from the start! My wife and I became converts instantly.

On December 28, 2011, I bought my first iMac and the thing is a dream.

Anyway...I'm a Chicago north-sider. Talk to me about computer stuff, music in general (especially Beatles and Brian Wilson), and Lord knows what else...in grad school working on a master's in software engineering. Afraid I'll have to repeat my data structures class, but hey... :)

Been really digging the discussions here!

Hello!

Another long time lurker of the forums but thought it was about time to sign up and start getting involved! I wouldn't exactly call myself an expert on computers/technology but I'm learning!

I've been an Apple fan ever since I got my first iPod back in 2005 (30gb Ipod Photo I believe, no idea what generation!), I currently own a 2010 iMac, 2008 MacBook (no idea on the sec of these off the top of my head), iPhone 4 32gb, Ipod Touch 64gb and the girlfriend has a 16gb iPad 2 Wifi that I seem to use more than her!

Anyway, see you around the forums!

Hey all! Current iPhone 4 user, with my wife having the 4S. Love both phones and have been using the iPhone for years. I just started a savings account this weekend to start saving up for my first Mac laptop. Air or Pro, haven't decided yet. But this site seems like a great resource to make that decision, among other things! Thanks!

I was wondering where this thread/section was. I'm the new guy here :)

I can't say I'm new to Apple, but I am new to Macs. My first Apple product wasn't an iPod, it was actually the iPhone 3G when I was stationed in Germany. Over there it only cost about $1.35 for one on contract, versus the $200 here. It was great until iOS 4 hit it. After that I picked up an iPad1. I didn't get another iPhone until the 4S came out.

Recently though I picked up my very first Mac, a 13" MBP. I love this thing, however the transition from PC to Mac has its moments, especially having to purchase new software that I grew accustom to on my PC. It just takes time getting used to.

Anyway, hi!
