hi, i joined up today because I live in Oxford UK and is it possible that Apple is unaware that there are 2 huge universities here?
Anyone wandering into any cafe, library or just walking around will see that people here
use Apple products but it is annoying...as the nearest proper Apple Store is in Reading, or, believe it or not, Milton Keynes. We have an "Apple authorised reseller" but that is not the same thing at all, if you want to do a course or make a Genius appointment or even are considering buying an iMac, and want to see it before spending £2000. I was informed at the weekend that Oxford University has banned Apple from having a shop in Oxford and Apple agreed to this, and so put in a biggish installation in a branch of Curry's slightly out of town. I can't see the motivation for this from the University, but there is no Apple Store.
There is a new huge multimillion pound shopping centre being built, with a John Lewis etc etc, not quite a Westfield, but big enough and called Westgate.... and Apple is NOT going to be in there, or in any of the better, city centre sites that have come and gone. Can ANYONE from Apple or anywhere (or Oxford Uni), explain to me why a small town like Cambridge gets a proper Apple store and Oxford does not?
I have been a mac person/family etc forever so am loyal but mystified...we had one of those purple iMac G3 space things 20 years ago...
Thanks for any info....
