It definitely works...however I don't really like this application.

Give me Tweetie / GMail / Facebook / Gtalk with push notification please.

Ok installed AP News and that enabled the notifications setting in my iPhone preferences.

Will have to wait to see how the first push update works :)

I have push turned on for AP but I haven't actually gotten any notifications from it.... I have seen stories on my front page that have a time stamp more recent than my update though. I'm confused.

push on the AP app sucks. you just get an occasional news alert every few hours is all it does at this point. hopefully they'll change it so that you can select what type of news events you want notifications from.

I'd love to get tucked into these push apps..... if the blooming store would just work lol I am guessing everyones hammering the servers

It seems the bottleneck at this point will be the Apple App Store approval division. We already know they are way overwhelmed, and with the 3.0 release it probably tripled their already unmanagable workload.

So unfortunately it seems we will have to wait for a trickle of apps to come out to do push.

I am pretty excited about push and was hoping they might have a bunch of app updates to get out today. I guess they are conserving resources though.

its a shame

Unlike most people who have been posting on this forum today I have to say that overall 3.0 delivers some truly great new features.

Whether or not they should have been features included on 1.0 are a commercial question that you can put in the direction of Apple. Who are we to question the first 2 editions of the O/S if the sales figures have been so phenomenal. It is obvious that many features such as copy/paste and landscape could have been included from the start, but it is another 'selling point' for the 3GS.

My problem is the push notifications. I don't understand why Apple did not get all of the developers to post their 3.0 ready Apps in preparation for today so we could all update our favorite apps and have the push service working. It seems like the majority of decent apps will be without this service for a while and I for one am really gutted about this. The push notification would have made the App Store even more superior to its competitors. I guess in about 1 week from now all my best apps will be working.

Lets hope anyway!

Apple then needs to learn how to run a business and HIRE MORE PEOPLE for this app approval process, and thus making their customer satisfaction better. I can almost promise you a lot of people are NOT happy with the speed of the app approval process, and thus a larger workforce would simply solve this problem. Ahhh, the many things apple does WRONG, yet I guess they do enough right for me to still love them.

Has anyone had success with push notifications on Etrade Mobile? I enabled notifications in the app but every time i re-open the app they are disabled . Also i don't have an option to enable notifications under the phones settings menu...what am i doing wrong?

I'm going to go ahead and say the company with $29 billion in the bank knows a little more about running a business than you.

Looking at how many people are downloading the 3.0 firmware the moment it went live, I think think things could have gotten uglier if most of the apps were updated too. That could have seriously pushed Apple Servers to the limit. Hopefully we`ll see more apps being updated for 3.0 with 3-4 days.

You are not doing anything wrong. E*TRADE's push notification service is broken.

Does that mail app not get push? Would have thought this would be 1st. I'm using my gmail account and am getting nothing or does it only work with a mobile me account?
