Well, it's a done deal. I preordered the note 4 today. I couldn't justify the amount of money required for the iPhone 6+ vs $100 for note 4... In conjunction with all of the features the note 4 has. Maybe the iPhone 7 will make a better package for the phablet to match what Samsung has done.

Im quite content with my $200 from trading in my iPhone 4 and $200 for trading in my Samsung Captivate. It's like im getting paid to upgrade my phone this year!
Nice! :) I'm 99% sure I'll trade in my Note 2 and iPhone 4S for this bad boy...

Did one of the carriers let you trade in 2 phones for 1 Note 4?

Ok so it's a simple process, if your on ATT

Go to this link: https://attbb.tradein-program.com/manufacturer

Follow the steps on that page to select your iPhone. Iphone 4/4s will give you $200 5/5s will give you $300. Take a screen shot of the final quote page with the promo code. Go to your local ATT store and they will offer you whatever price for it and you give them the promo code from your screen shot which bumps the price to whatever is applicable.

They will give you a gift card you can apply to your bill. Easy peasy.

The other $200 is a promo from Samsung that is mailed to you in the form of a check or redeemed instantly at Best Buy. ANY working smartphone is worth $200 when you preorder the Galaxy note. The day you pick up the note, bring your smartphone and they take $200 off the price of purchase.

So in total for me that's $400 in savings and what $330 for the note with tax? It's a no brainer. :)

FYI a the above ATT deal is only good until Sept 30th. Once you generate the promo code, the code is good for a couple weeks, but it has to be generated before the 30th.

Hmm, I don't think it works that way. I am sure there are stipulations with the carrier stores that determine how much you get. I know they were guaranteeing a minimum if you were upgrading the iPhone and trading in a 4s/5/5s, but that is IF you were getting an iPhone. That is why it says "up to $200".

As far as BBY goes, you only get the GC if you preordered the phone from them and upgraded there. You then trade in your device at the time of the preorder fulfillment and they will get the GC.

If you upgrade anywhere outside of BBY, Samsung will then give you the difference between the trade in value at your choice location and $200 in the form of a check. You have to mail in your upgrade/purchase and trade in receipt to Samsung. No double dipping.

The first trade in for ATT, that doesn't require a phone purchase? My ip4 is coming up at $200 towards my bill which would be great, but I couldn't see this not being tied to a new phone purchase.

2nd, the Samsung rebate is for $200 minus the trade in $ you got, so either you are trading in a 2nd phone, or $200-$200=$0 Samsung rebate. The best buy one is also $200 for any working phone, so it would negate the Samsung one.

I think I'm missing something. It looks like you can take advantage of one of these, but not both unless the initial ATT trade in is not tied to new hardware purchase.

I actually just got done applying my $200 card from ATT to my account. I now have a $70 credit after this months bill. It works.

it was originally supposed to be towards upgrading to the iPhone 6 but no one checks your account. You just give them the promo code and the system bumps the value of your trade in to $200 or $300. I traded in an iphone 4 so I got $200.

Heres a long thread on it. A lot of other folks have gotten their $200 card with no issues.

The promo says any smartphone, so you don't have to worry about it being an iPhone. I'm sure this part of the promo worked for you, but I don't think you will be able to do the Samsung promo on top of that. You ordered a smartphone with the ATT trade in right?

The ATT deal for iPhones is different than the Best Buy. There are people on that thread I posted who have maxed out their trade ins of 5 phones per line and leaving with $1,000 cards. The ATT reps are not even checking the accounts for preorder or iphone 6 order. I won't have any issues taking the deal from Samsung through Best Buy for the Note 4 as there is no connection between the deals.

Ahh, ok that's what I was getting at. So the reps don't check if you actually pre-ordered something?

Yeah, if money is a concern the iPhones lose pretty easily. After I got my 5S I didn't think it was really worth the $300 more than a Nexus 5!

I do however think the 6+ is worth the $200 over a Note 4, but I didn't like my Note 2 much. If I went Android I'd get an HTC M8

It's quite possible. It's tough to truly judge what a phone is like when playing with demo units. The iphone 6 is definitely easier for me to understand due to the fluidity of iOS. I have an iPad and had an iPhone 5. The Note 4 and in particular s-pen functionalities are VERY new for me. Im going to have to learn a lot when I get the note.

The 6+ imo doesnt add any functional advantages to the note 4 other than pure ecosystem purchases.

On another "note" I have absolutely horrible handwriting. I should have been a doctor. Anyway, I've always been able to write much more clearly in pencil than pen. I tested the settings on the s-pen today and was amazed to see how accurately portrayed my handwriting flaws were in pen and how neat in pencil. The 4k pressure points in the new spen is no joke!

Good post man, unlike a lot of people here I don't want to make you feel bad for going with something different (and there are a lot of 6 owners trying to make 6+ owners feel bad, and vice versa).

I think a lot of the iPhone users on here are finally getting a taste of the medicine they were dishing out to those of us who are mac fans but happen to have android phones, lol.

Back to the S-Pen, it's a really cool feature that I fell in love with when I first got my note 2. I was really looking forward to it, and then as time went on I rarely used it because the screen felt too small lol.

On my Surface Pro, I use the pen - and even there it feels a tad small. a 15" tablet would be a wonderful thing, but yeah whatever. :)

I hope you find joy in using your Note 4!

I used to be VERY passionate about my device of choice. I had the iPhone 3g and loved it. I used to spend countless hours doing everything on it. I'm older now. I use my smartphone for the occasional browser session, a back up device for games like clashofclans or boom beach when my iPad isn't in reach... I'm no longer a power user, so my needs are simple.

My main reason for choosing a phablet over a regular phone is to use it on trips. I plan to mount it using my CD player and play stuff for the Mrs and kid.

My MAIN reason for pause on getting a note is Samsung and touchwiz. I don't trust Samsung. I don't find touchwiz very appealing especially coming from a nexus device. I probably won't use the spen much at all. If Best Buy didn't do the instant $200 rebate on behalf of Samsung, I would still be scouring the tonight 1am thread for an iPhone 6+.

With the above said, after seeing the Note in person, its absolutely amazing. Go check it out at Best Buy and watch the HD video with safari animals. Just for chits and giggles do it.

Also check out the galaxy alpha. The specs are pretty weak especially compared to the iPhone 6, but its probably the most sleek Samsung phone I have ever seen. If I was dead set on staying with an iPhone 5 size device, that would be my phone.

BTW this worked perfectly. I got $200 for my ip4, I just had them put it on my account. I also called ATT and complained about the higher price of the Note 4 on ATT versus the other carriers and they gave me $180 credit to offset that, pretty nice. So it ends up being $445 total if I figure the credits, although I just ended up doing the Next program as I'm the type of person who upgrades every year anyway.

Here is a legit question.

If iOS was available on both the Note 4 and iPhone 6 plus which would you pick?

And if Android was available on both the Note 4 and iPhone 6 plus which would you pick?

I personally would pick the Note 4 in both situations. That phone would be a beastly iOS device.

Ios on a device with 3gb of ram and quad core cpu? Would be INSANE!

On another note.. Spinedoc and company. Best Buy has the note 4 for $199 on the website. However if you order through the website you can't get the $200 smartphone trade in promo. So screenshot the website and have a manager match it in store. You're welcome. :)

Thanks, I just went with the $180 ATT gave me. Figured it was pretty even overall since I'd have to spend $40-50 on a phone to trade in. I won't do a contract because then my monthly fee would go up $25, and BB promos don't affect the Next monthly payment.

But definitely thanks for the ATT link, it definitely worked. The rep said to bring in as many iphones as I wanted to lol, if I got that link earlier I probably would have bought some off Swappa for $100 or so.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. I did this a couple weeks ago. I thought about buying some iphone 4s BUT if the esn isn't clear, your SOL. In my opinion unless you know for sure its not a stolen device, it's not worth the risk.

Also I noticed not long after this deal was announced prices of used iphone 4s went up from $50 to $100-$150. People advertise on Craigslist, " buy my phone for $150 and sell it for $200.."

Best Buy changed the price on their website. It's back to 299 instead of 199. I was able to get in on it before the change and had the manager sign my receipt saying I'll get it for 199.
After trading my old Galaxy Nexus, I'll be just paying for tax and the upgrade fee. Hopefully I can get Att to credit that back.

This will be such a great deal on a great device.

My captivate was worth $9 dollar through ATT and $20 with Best buy...plus Best buy gives you the $200 instantly vs waiting on a check with att.

The best buy deal is still active. You have to take the preorder to checkout to see the $199.99 price.

Yeah but I can't take the BB deal as I got $180 from ATT in exchange for ordering the phone through them.
