Also is there a way to log into the Veterans/Military pricing Apple Store when using the Apple Store iPhone app? I don't see a way to do so. Only through the browser

I think the browser is the only way in. I made a shortcut on home page but it just takes me to web page.

I'm not sure that point is phrased properly, but traditionally the iOS Apple Store app's servers are opened up before the traditional website. Generally has a minute or two lead.

Got a citation for this?
#6. You will NOT be able to buy a 12.9” iPad Pro XDR at the Apple store.

My question exactly. Where did TheRealAlex get his dubious information on item #6? That is the iPad Pro I will be buying this Friday.

Edit: I think TheRealAlex meant that you cannot buy the 12.9 XDR unit if you stand in line at a brick and mortar store. He did not mean the online Apple Store. Right?

Is it possible to start through the ordering interface "before" 5am and then wait for the "starting gun" at 5 to complete the purchase?
Absolutely, as long as the store is up. I’d get something in your cart around 11pm, go through the motions to purchase, but then bail at the last screen. Then, when orders go live, ad that puppy to your cart, delete whatever you had in there and “go for launch.” Sorry, I’ve been really into “For All Mankind” lately(since November 2019?)

Yeah, I think @TheRealAlex is only referring to the date in question.. on Friday, April 30th.

Unfortunately not. It is not possible to add any new product (in this case the 12.9 iPad) until the store comes back online at 5:00am PST on Friday.

One recognised shortcut using the iOS app however is to configure the model you want now and make it a favourite. When the store comes online on Friday go straight to your favourites and add it directly to your cart from there. It can save valuable seconds.

I hope this helps.

I’m wondering if there will be any discount through the Government Employees store. So far, the iPad Pro 12.9 is the same price there as it is in the regular consumer online store. Does the discounted price not typically show up on the site until closer to the date of purchase availability?

Interesting. I’m able to take advantage of the education discount this time around and it’s showing the discounted price in the configurator (-$50 for 11”, -$100 for 12.9”). Only sad part is it seems I’ll have to order through the website and not the app to get that price. If history repeats, the app gets preference over the website so I may just get a later ship date. Who knows.

Seems like for iPads, they don't discount them right away on the Government Employees store. I've been on the lookout for a discounted Air 4 256GB LTE and I think it only started getting discounted after the Spring Loaded event.

I think they will be popular, but with a $1099 entry point for the 12.9 it will prevent shipping times from moving quickly. Just my opinion, if you want one in the 1st set of shipments I think you’ll be able to get one.

I’m coming from a 12.9 2nd gen. Still going strong 6 years later! I was originally gonna go with the 1tb WiFi. But hubby thinks the cellular will be useful and since the upgrade is basically free right now gonna go with the 1tb 12.9 cellular. I make a lot of slideshow/movies on my iPad, have over 200gb of music and currently have the 512 which is close to being maxed out. So the 1 tb makes sense for me. Can’t see where the 16 go of ram will hurt either.

I’ve always used the favorites route but I notice their is no way to save a favorite on the military store. Anybody on that site see a way ?

Correct and the OP is right there will be huge demand and very low supply. There are Major tips to secure a Pre-Order which will last 2 minutes before they sell out Nationally.

#1. LogIn with Your Apple ID
#2. Use your Apple Pay and Apple Card if you have one.
#3. Make a purchase today just buy a cellphone case anything just so everything is working you don’t want any surprises on the Pre-order day.
#4. Call and advise your Bank that you will be making a $1099+ Purchase on April 30 sometimes Fraud Protection kicks in and creates a mess
#5. Add another item to your cart in Pre-Order day, a charging cable or anything Apple gives priority to Carts with multiple items. (You can return the filler item later)
#6. You will NOT be able to buy a 12.9” iPad Pro XDR at the Apple store.
#7. Use your iPhone or iPad to make your purchase Apple servers give prioity to iOS devices.
#8. Do NOT go Back and Change your mind. Servers will be hit hard and you will lose everything You get 1 Shot to buy and checkout.
#9. Pay full Price I know there’s a Trade In Option that’s a 100% sure way you won’t check out in time sell your Trade in by yourself.
#10. Use the Apple Store App. Make sure your Text message number is up to Date they may text your to verify the purchased.
As we speak I can already buy the smart folio case now. I don't know if i should buy the smart folio case now or just have it in my cart for April 30th following for your 5th point. hmmm
