AirTags was 1pm so presume it be same time. Maybe the website / App will be updated later
I hope so. I don’t wanna wake up at 5am here in Arizona to find out they either started at midnight or were pushed to 8am pacific.

The fact that Apple hasn’t said a time yet and is just going with ‘April 30th’ harkens back to the days when pre-orders would start at midnight Pacific time. If Apple didn’t set a time back then, it was because it was at Midnight Pacific. Hopefully we get some clarity soon.

Correct and the OP is right there will be huge demand and very low supply. There are Major tips to secure a Pre-Order which will last 2 minutes before they sell out Nationally.

#1. LogIn with Your Apple ID
#2. Use your Apple Pay and Apple Card if you have one.
#3. Make a purchase today just buy a cellphone case anything just so everything is working you don’t want any surprises on the Pre-order day.
#4. Call and advise your Bank that you will be making a $1099+ Purchase on April 30 sometimes Fraud Protection kicks in and creates a mess
#5. Add another item to your cart in Pre-Order day, a charging cable or anything Apple gives priority to Carts with multiple items. (You can return the filler item later)
#6. You will NOT be able to buy a 12.9” iPad Pro XDR at the Apple store.
#7. Use your iPhone or iPad to make your purchase Apple servers give prioity to iOS devices.
#8. Do NOT go Back and Change your mind. Servers will be hit hard and you will lose everything You get 1 Shot to buy and checkout.
#9. Pay full Price I know there’s a Trade In Option that’s a 100% sure way you won’t check out in time sell your Trade in by yourself.
#10. Use the Apple Store App. Make sure your Text message number is up to Date they may text your to verify the purchased.
So I need to make an Apple ID first ? It will be my first Apple device

Believe its 13:00 .... only based on rumours, what I've seen suggested here, and when the iPhone 12 pre-orders went live
Is 1pm as thats when John Lewis and Mobile phone operators say it goes live for ordering on their sites.

Yeah, it won’t sell out.. but ship times will certainly dip. I kinda gotta feeling that’s why Apple was vague on when it will be available. Because they themselves know it will be difficult to keep up with demand.

But I won’t put too much time into buying the iPad from Apple, I’m going to try Best Buy and AT&T as well.
Beat buy? Might as well not order it.

I'm fully aware of the concerns with ordering from Best Buy... I've read through their own forums. But there are cases where they deliver as scheduled... I just hope to be one of those cases.

Problem is… Apple hasn’t given a date to when it’s available, just mid-May. There’s a rumor out there saying stores might have it during the weekend of May 22-23.
Well, now we know it’s 5/21. There is a chart in this article that has times around the world that we can start ordering.

This is odd. For AirTags and iPhone 12, Apple was clear about the start time. Now it's not mentioned. In that vacuum, it's reasonable to assume 12 AM PDT. I'm hoping for some clarity from them.

Worst case scenario - indefinite! Imaging waking up at 5 AM and not seeing the orders available. Very aggravating. Then the day becomes mashing the refresh button.

Luckily I'm usually up until 12am PDT. So I guess it's either going to happen then or I'll wake up 5 hours later to order it.

Well I just tried contacting Apple and was told 12 noon tomorrow. Mmmmkay.... That would be an extremely weird time.

Something in my gut says Midnight. I think if Apple was doing it at 5am or Noon they would have said something in the press release today. Instead they just said it would be up for orders 'tomorrow'. Looking back, whenever preorders where being held for iPhones, Apple never said a time and that meant Midnight. With the iPhone 11 & 12, AirTags and the purple iPhone they said 5am. That's why I'm leaning towards Midnight

Noon in what time zone?

I'm hoping this is right, either 12 noon or 12 midnight. I don't want to get up in the middle of the night.

One good indication as to the actual start time: Apple Store going offline. If it's 11:45 PM and the Apple Store is still online, you can probably go to bed and set alarm for 5 AM. Likewise, if it's 4:45 AM and the store is online, then try and get some more sleep.

I say "probably" because you never know if this will be the time Apple doesn't take it's store offline a few hours before launch time.

I have a bad feeling it'll be 12am PDT and I live in east coast, which means I need to stay up til 3am with bloodshot eyes. I'm like thousand miles apart from being a night owl so tonight will be a nightmare for sure...

Just go to bed when you normally would, and wake up for the preorder then go back to bed. That’s how my wife and I used to handle preorders before they switched them to mornings (which I suspect they will do this time around too). We’re in central time so it was always 2am when we were getting up to do it; lots of fun on a day when I had to go to work.

For what it's worth, contacted support and they said 12:01am PT. Not sure how much this can be trusted though...
