it is amazing how defensive people get about the iPhone. It is a great phone.....but as i stated too small for me as i squint to see it....nuff said.
No where did I say it was tiny.....you said that not me. I never said anything about a microscope nor did in EVER imply anything like that. You are being overly defensive and implying things i NEVER said or implied. I never said i went from squinting to UTTER BRILLIANCE as you stated. YOU said that. I just said I don't have to squint when using the S4 but I do with the IP5. That is my experience. So stop being so defensive......i am allowed to state an opinion and use cases.

Sure - everyone is allowed to state their opinions. Means I'm also allowed to state mine when I feel a post is complete FUD.

"I have to squint to see things on the iPhone."

"The iPhone is so limited, you can't do anything."

"The iPhone 5 bends and scratches without me even touching it!"

"Android is SO laggy."

"My iPhone 5 NEVER lags."

"My Android phone NEVER lags."

Examples of all the ridiculous, over the top things that are said on this thread. I'm not assigning them all to you. Nor was my entire post directed at specifically what you said. I merely used your post as the springboard for a comment which addressed a larger issue (including comments I have seen from other members here). Its funny, the people who say "Don't be so defensive" are usually themselves being overly so.

Using both the 4.7" HTC One and the 4" iPhone 5 I can tell you, using the phrase "I have to squint to see the iPhone 5" is exaggeration. And below are pictures to prove it.

You obviously see more content on the larger screen - but the size of the text is actually the same (if not bigger on the iPhone by default). Like I said - totally cool that you prefer the larger screen. But for people coming here and seeing comments like "I have to squint to read the iPhone" implying that its so much smaller and therefore harder to see is just completely untrue.

You people have some TINY hands if you're having trouble using the One, Nexus 4, or S4 one-handed. I can see that with the Note 2, but with any of those?

Tiny hands.

it is not that they hard to use. They are just not nearly as comfortable

I think people complaining about the size of text mostly mean on apps that try to fit the text on the entire screen. For example, the gmail app. In the SS you posted if both screens displayed the same amount of text it would be unreadable on the iphone.

I watch a lot of tv and movies on my phone (thank you hbo go!) so screen size is rather important to me. My old Evo 4g feels so tiny now that I can't believe I used it as long as I did (now on HTC one)

I personally loved the iPhone 4 design. I found 4's design to be perfect for a size of a smartphone. It fit perfectly in my hands and i was able to use it effectively. I wasn't too excited about apple increasing the size of the screen on 5.

Touche.

But how many apps do this? Browsers don't, facebook doesn't, twitter doesn't. I'm staring at the Kindle app on both right now and (despite the fact you can zoom text) at the same zoom level, the text size is exactly the same. Again, fair point you can't see as much content - but to say its unreadable (which is a claim not only made the the poster I quoted) is absurd.

Talk about FUD....you are being so defensive about Apple again........completely fabricating and over generalizing things people said so stop! I never said any of those things. You take one little thing I said about squinting to see the IP5 and totally over reacted and then blew things way out of proportion to fit your agenda. It is truly amazing how defensive you are about all things Apple. I looked up all of your old posts in a ton of different threads and to say you fit the fanboy mold is pretty accurate.
So exaggerate all you need to make yourself feel better about your choices. But this is so mind blowing how you took a statement like "i have to squint to see the IP5" into all this...truly amazing how defensive you are. Oh and BTW.....i am getting up there in age......means my eyesight is not what it used to be......sooooo do you get it now???? So as i said I hold the IP5 and the S4 together to read anything and I have to squint to read it on the IP5. LOL.... Truly amazing...........defensive...over exaggerating...agenda.......
Oh and BTW look at my signature......I have a house full of Apple products....no Apple hater here. Just a guy having to defend himself from a fanboy.....
Oh and how do you know I don't squint to see the IP5? I NEVER said everyone does. I just said that I do....

Anyone squinting when looking at the iPhones screen should probably get their eyes tested or hold the phone closer to their face. The screen gets bigger then, by the way lol. Seriously though, screen size is not even a criticism. The iP5 screen is hardly small lets face it.

It seems the general flow of discussions here is:

(1) "Android does X better than iOS" or "X android phone is better than the iPhone" or "the iPhone can't do X, but Android can."

(2) "Actually, the iPhone can do X this way." or "That doesn't make any sense, the iPhone does X fine (includes proof)." or anything remotely positive about an iOS device.

(3) "You over sensitive fanboy, you clearly can't take any criticism."

 ok? So we can make an exaggerated claim here "I have to squint to see the iPhone screen." Which then is met with "Here are some pictures proving that's an exaggeration." Only to be met with "You're a fanboy."

*sigh*

There's a hell of a lot of hyperbole out there - on both sides. I prefer larger screens myself, but others are happy with smaller. Both points of view are totally valid.

I'd like to see Apple offer a larger screened iPhone and give customers a choice. They can still sell a smaller device with the same specs. Heck they do it with the MacBook line, and now even the iPad - why not the iPhone?

I went from a 3.7" Desire Z to a 4.8" Galaxy S3 last year. At first, I felt the phone was too big in my hands. After a couple of months, I didn't have any issues with the size, even when using it one-handed.

Periodically, I fire up my Desire Z. I think I could go back to the smaller screen, but it sure felt tiny after using my GS3 for a year.

Completely agree with all of this. I believe we'll see a 4.7"-ish iPhone in 2014. Doubling the current iPhone resolution in a 4.7" display would line up perfectly with the current PPI out there on the One and GS4.

Ever since owning my HTC, I've grown fond of the larger screens as well. Sometimes I still prefer the smaller footprint, but seeing more content on the screen at one time is nice. Same reason I really like my iPad mini over a Nexus 7.

I would welcome a 4.7" iPhone option with open arms, provided they don't do away with the current 4" offering (meaning they keep the cheap version AND a flagship 4" version).

My glove size is medium. I'm using an S4 to type this. It's doable but not as pleasant as using an iPhone 5.

Ideal one handed use for me taps or at 4.3 inches. I hope Apple goes with that size for iPhone 6.

True - I have the tendency to want to provide the other side of the equation. I at least try to do so in a logical and organized way. I have to say, I had trouble reading through that jamezr rant.

So sue me.

I also HATE these exaggerated generalizations (like the ones I posted above). They happen on both sides and only muddy the waters for people who are ACTUALLY trying to make a somewhat informed decision.

I said I have to squint to se the IP5 and I don't for the S4. So anything else you throw out here is pure FUD by you. Any other generalization you post to defend something posted by anyone else is pre fabrication on your part. So if there have been perceived wrongs done by other people in other threads.....go attack them.
As others have pointed out you have a reputation for doing this sort of thing. Drinking Apple kool-aid then blindly being defensive about Apple.
So how do you know whether I squint to see the IP5 or not?
Thanks for the posts....at least now i know how to take anything else you say in these forums.

I suppose the moral of the story is, if you ever think about buying a mobile phone, for goodness don't ask advice in a forum lol! I have to agree with these exaggerations and its moulding the way people think. You are made to feel you have to pick a brand and stick to it. I defend Apple because I currently own an iPhone and from personal experience can see half the slagging off is made by sad individuals looking to boost their own views. Seriously though, just sit back and laugh or pity in your own way, its not worth debating on some threads if the agenda has been set. :)

LOL....

So two pictures of each phone on the same website taken from the same distance showing text sizes that are exactly the same isn't proof? Essentially what I'm getting at is, if you had to squint to read this post on an iPhone, you'll have to do so to read it on my HTC as well because the font sizes show up the same.

As has been pointed out, there are apps out there which zoom out to show EVERYTHING (Gmail app and Apple mail for example), but not many do this. In those instances I can see where you're coming from.

Anyways - I feel like I've posted very organized, logical posts here and have been met with rambling paragraphs from you berating me and calling me a fanboy, all while ignoring any and all points in my posts.

It's sad I don't expect anything different on this forum. Feel free to assume whatever you want about me. Just remember what assuming does....

Agreed - the assumption is I'm "defending" Apple because I'm a fanboy and can't stand to see someone bad mouth them. The reality is, I feel bad for people who come to these forums looking for intelligent, balanced discussion and are met with "Android is the best" "the iPhone sucks" sentiments.

Nevermind how many times I've said I use and like both, that the HTC One is my personal, every day phone, that I try to present reasoned, organized arguments.

Whatever.

Maybe you reap what you sow....
Yes...but too late for you...
Here are clearer pictures for you.....I still stand by my original statement which you have yet to prove wrong despite throwing all kinds of FUD out about how you have to defend Apple. Yet I was not in any way putting Apple down.
Try these pictures.......from real posters and reviewers.
As you can see they not the same size...one phone is 4 inches and the other 5 inches. Therefore they display things differently. The screen size alone says the 5 inch phone will display things larger than the 4 inch phone! Geez.....
You can lead a horse to water........

It isn't always the case. I went from iPhone 4S to Galaxy Note 2 to Nexus 4. I found the size of the Note 2 just a little bit too big to comfortably fit in my pockets. Yes, it could fit, but it just wasn't comfortable, especially when sitting.

I liked the size of the Nexus 4 the best, but got tired of having to bring along an extra camera to take pictures (Nexus cameras are pretty bad) so I'm now back on an iPhone 5.

I find the iPhone 5 a little small for my tastes, but still think overall it's the best BALANCED phone out there in terms of pros/cons. So size isn't everything.
