Google takes money from ad sellers then targets the user, they act as a firewall of sort or middle man or bridge or broker or... Well... You get the idea

At least that's what I assume they are doing.

Sigh... Android is pretty much nothing but an advertising platform that people willingly buy into when you think about it... o_O

On IOS.......Apple is making money off of you....just maybe better at it.
They both do it a bit differently....but the end result is the same.....

What part did you want a comment on? The part where the author recommends that you purchase a Motorola (a.k.a. Lenovo) smartphone, another Chinese company, or the part where he recommends you purchase a phone from Essential?

You may be correct about Apple, but if Google isn’t selling your info then how are they making money?

Just curious, how often do you run into areas where you have T-Mo service, but not Verizon?

I’m not trying to be critical of T-Mo as I think they have done great thing to spur competition in the U.S. cellular market. But from my reading it seems Verizon has far greater network coverage than T-Mo.

Either way I’m glad that OnePlus is now working on three of the four major U.S. networks. My guess is that things will continue to improve for OnePlus on Verizon as Verizon continues towards shutting down its CDMA network by the end f 2019.

T-Mobile network is non existent in a lot of places I visit. Then again, so is Sprint.

Had a chance to play with one a bit more last evening while out with friends. Nice device, like the hand feel and balance overall. The display is great, don't really see the lower PPI as compared to my pixel 3, and like the overall speed and feel of the device.

Looking forward to seeing what this company does in the next couple of years, and if they can keep clean and avoid further controversy that has plagued them in the past, I will strongly consider their devices in the future.

Prime example is the city I live in. I average 25mbps dl speeds with T-Mobile and the worst area is my house where on Verizon I get .02mbps dl speeds! Needless to say Verizon sucks where I live. However, I travel all over the middle and southern portions of California for work and there are quite a few areas where T-Mobile is better or even with Verizon. Over the next 1.5 years though, T-mobile is likely going to take the lead as they have been building out the new 600mhz freq hardware, which not only increases the low band reach, but it is also the backbone for a complete coast to coast 5G network. Come 2020, I doubt ATT or Verizon will even be in the same ballpark as T-Mobile in terms of coverage and speed. On average, we should see around 300mbps dl speeds all over the US, even in rural cities. ATT and Verizon are focusing their 5G in the home and leaving 4G/LTE as the backbone for the rest of the country.

Getting back on point, for now, I primarily leave my data connected to Verizon. If it drops, I switch to T-Mobile. It's why I love my dual-sim One+. Come 2020, I likely be dropping Verizon altogether.

You work for T-Mobile right? I thought you had said that once?

I was on TMO for years and switched to AT&T a couple months ago. TMO speeds are great in cities...but stray away from heavily populated areas and the the service drops. Where I live AT&T is just as fast as TMO but reaches more rural and mountainous regions where i hike and explore.
AT&T is faster than Verizon since Verizon went to unlimited data plans. Their network is really congested right now.
For me AT&T is just as fast as TMO in DL speeds and has the same coverage as Verizon.

Talking to the AT&T guys they are building out their 5G network and backbone for the home rest of their network as well.
I read the Galaxy S10 coming in March will be the first mass produced 5G capable phone.

My 6T delivered today direct from OnePlus, first time ever trying a phone from them. I am very impressed so far. There was a large dust speck under the screen protector but other than that the phone is flawless. Screen is perfect and has less color shift at an angle than my $1000 XS. I have Verizon and it works perfectly. No problems with texts or VoLTE so far. The LTE signal is much stronger than my XS in my apartment, I haven't needed to worry about lack of WiFi calling yet.

System wide dark theme, on-screen fingerprint reader that works good enough, very fast face unlock, call quality are all great. Functional auto brightness unlike the Pixels, which has not changed with the Pixel 3 (rapid and jarring fluctuation). Oxygen OS is buttery smooth.

I had to go through more than a few iPhone X and two XS before getting one without some screen defect. Returned two Pixel 3 phones due to dead pixels and awful pink tint. Returned one Pixel 3 XL for burn in at both ears out of the box. Funny that a "cheap" $580 phone is perfect on the 1st try. Don't know how long I'll use the 6T but so far I am quite impressed and surprised. I always come back to iPhone as a daily driver, we'll see. Makes me really question spending Apple / Google / Samsung money on a phone.

Verizon CDMA signal is the best at penetrating buildings. Maintaining signal when you are down in the basement or lower floors. Although this will be going away as they switch to GSM. I had a lot of good luck with AT&T over the years. They have a great network too. Tmobile and Sprint are fine if you don't travel much and live in a highly populated area. If you do travel often like I do their networks are definitely inferior.

Oneplus 6T as youtube reviewer flossy carter mentioned 'T' stands for troubles for other flagships.

The only things I don't like so far:

-Fingerprint sensor at night lights up the entire screen. It's SO bright haha.
-Face unlock is nowhere near as good as Face ID in the dark - it doesn't work at all.
-OP message app is nowhere near as quick as Android messages app.
-No wireless charging.

So far that's it. All minor annoyances. Overall it's the best Android phone I've used, better than my time with the Pixel 3.

I forgot to mention how fantastic it is to have a hardware volume toggle button!! I love that I can slide it to vibrate, and slide it again to silence all. So functional.

Wireless charging is not necessary because its charger bumped up charge with break neck speed and juice flow for more hours than the flagships. That is the beauty of OP phones.

Face unlock will work when it's dark if you turn on the assistive mode in settings. It basically makes the screen white to illuminate your face.

And you're right. I always disable the built in messenger and the built in contacts app and just use Google's stuff. Works better. The build in messenger client is very limited.

But when using Google messages, looks like the dark theme enabled on stock OP messenger is no longer carried over... Am I missing something?

That sounds like it'll be even brighter than the fingerprint sensor light haha, but I'll try it. Thanks for the tip.

Figures that Verizon will launch Google RCS tomorrow on Pixel 3 per rumors. I don't want to return the 6T, will have to see RCS in action but it could be a game changer if it happens.

Yep, I've had every OnePlus phone since the 3T. I always enjoy them.
Good. I have a Oneplus 5 borrowed from my friend, it is just a fantastic phone. Looking forward to Tmobile/Sprint merger next year, definitely will get to Oneplus as my daily driver.

These phones are looking very interesting. I am glad I can’t afford to buy any more phones this year (due to upcoming holiday shopping) because I swear I’ve got a new “phone crush” every week. :D

It’s a lot of fun reading this part of the forum and seeing everyone test out their new Android phones.
