Can't wait to see invites being sold on CL and eBay down the road. Yeah, the invite only is a bad idea but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt until there is more presented.

Cyanogen just recently hired Supercuio for all you folks on XDA and has had a Galaxy device so this is good news.

Here you go:

http://www.androidauthority.com/oneplus-one-design-language-369356/

It's not just the picture posted above. There's another one even better. Look at the drawing in black and white. It's a super cool design IMO :D:D

Looks really really awesome.

The whole invite thing is a mess.

How can I get one¿

Agree...it seems like a great phone.....looks like a Nexus 5...... But as you said....the invite process is a mess. Don't know why they think that is a good idea...unless they figure on having supply issues from the start.

I'm hoping they invite everyone that has registered on their forums. It would be the easiest choice and great way to get site traffic.

Been my concern from day one. The supply and demand of this phone.

The OnePlus One for $399, with spec's matching or beating the new $700 phones like the S5 and M8. So of course the OnePlus One should sell like hot cakes, easily as well as the Nexus 5.

But how much stock does OnePlus have in the warehouses right away ? Do you all remember the Nexus 4 disaster of a launch ? Took 2 to 3 months to get a good inventory flowing after the initial launch of always being out of stock, and that was done by Google and LG, both way bigger companies that One+.

I am afraid this OnePlus One will be vaporware, something really awesome for an incredible low price, but a product very hard to come by, and selling on E-Bay for double or triple the price.

It kinda turns me off to this phone that I need to scour the internet begging for an invite. I am still interested in the phone if I am lucky enough to get an invite or find one from someone I know, but I'm not going to go run up a big post count at their forum to get one. I have other things to do with my time.

Oh dear. That's me out.

This sounds like a cover story for not wanting to make phones that might not be sold. Why should customers be the ones inconvenienced by them not having done their research into production quantities. If they really believe in the product they would make enough knowing they would sell.

When money is not enough to buy a product I'll give it to a manufacturer who can better produce enough supply and predict adequate demand.

Dear me.

I agree.....if they have such supply constraints from the start....how will they fill their orders? This screams of a ton of backorders from the very first day! Then how will they honor returns or warranty issues with not enough supply?

As upsetting as it is I'm going to give them benefit of the doubt only because they've done such a great job feeding this hype train. Now to figure out how to get one of these oh so elusive invites.

Never seen a company not willing to just take my money. Odd.

This.

My fears about them having zero retail presence in what is probably one of the most fiercely competitive industries looks like it has merit.

Aside from international orders that should simply be a case of buying on a (their) website and being told a delivery estimate, not being present on the Chinese high street means they need to spend money for others to stock their phone. It looks like they don't want to do that because of the margin hit and thus are being extremely conservative with production volumes.

It appears the phone has been costed for online channel sales (low overheads) and ignored the all-important retail distribution portion.

The bone-headed concept of inviting customers to buy should have been squashed at first mention. It sounds terrible. Any company that thinks it's a good idea to dictate when can spend their money should consider how that makes them look.

At the end of the day, there are plenty of other similar phones that they will lose sales to. No use having a great product if nobody can buy it. Or worse, you actively make it more difficult to do so.

It also looks like they have an overambitious hipster marketing team on the job. That whole faux forum setup gives me the creeps. Like they're trying to appeal to the 'viral generation' or something...being all mysterious and 'internetz communitiez1lulz' on us...

Just sell us the damn phone guys, don't try to be so freaking special.

Yep. It's like they are trying to create buzz to hide something.....

The invite system is flawed. Why not simply have a stock allocation to each country and a simple pre-order system. Limit one to each customer and once pre-orders allocation is full, take no more pre-orders until they know when they can supply.

The whole thing is a bit of a mess..... Albeit an intriguing mess.....

If the phone totally kicks ass for $400, I might be willing to put up with some of this BS. I guess we will see what happens in 5 days.

Phone has been leaked on Android Authority.

Design is weird. Look at the edges of the screen. Seems like there is a hole all over the bezel... Am I the only one seen this??

Also, WTF with the software skin????!!!!! I thought this was supposed to be CM aka stock Android!!

There are no on screen buttons (they are capacitive, and worst, a menu button like old Samsung phones!!:mad: no direct multitasking button).

Icons look like MIUI ROM or something.

So disappointed. I though this was gonna be like a 5.5 Nexus phone. If CM looks like this then I'm out.

The interchangeable back covers are nice though.

Shame. I had high hopes for this phone. Between the UI changes, no on screen buttons and the invite system it's a NO from me.

I'm going to be really excited if it turns out to be an all screen 5.5" device.

It's not. It has capacitive buttons.

Hmmmm more bezel than I anticipated. I do like the chrome finish around the device but once the screen is on ..... back to those bezels.

This is not what I had in mind

Not a fan of the miui look either but that should be an easy fix.

Really on the fence now after seeing the leaks.

It looks a lot like the Sony Z2 with the large bezels

Thats very true, it actually looks nice to me. I was interested in the Z2 as well, I just don't want to pay $900 to get one on eBay. Of course, whose to say I'll even be able to get invited to buy this phone before the Z2 shows up in the US.

Lol you sound like me. The Z2 looks great except who knows when it will come to the US and which carrier will get it. But not going pay eBay prices! :)
