More niggles. I don't like the bar at the top with battery, WiFi and signal. Because I can't see percentage, I can't see what level of coverage I have be it 3g 4g or whatever. And that's just info I expect to be there. Can it be added?

I have batt percentage. Tap the battery icon in the notification menu and it'll take you to settings. Tap the icon again in settings and you'll get options for percentage. You can also see your cell signal on the bar from the lock screen and notification shade from the home screen.

So it's been a few days and I'm adjusting to using the One Plus X.

@Alphazoid - thanks for the tip above I have used that and now have a battery percentage which is a big help!

A couple of other things I wasn't very satisfied with I've managed to sort out too like the camera not showing thumbnails of recent snaps.
I downloaded the Google Camera which I thought was pre-installed but turns out the One Plus' on board camera app just looks virtually the same!

That makes checking recently snapped images a little easier.
I have moved on to Google Photos as much as I dislike the app, just because it's a little cleaner than the Piktures app I was using. And it didn't integrate too well with other apps even though the interface is really pleasant.
I still think it's stupid that screenshots don't go into Google Photos automatically, unless there is a way to do so and I just haven't found it? Currently I have to swipe down to notifications and click on the screen capture before choosing to 'upload' it to Google Photos. Is there an easier way?
The Piktures app saved them to camera roll instantly so it wouldn't make sense for Google Photos to not have the option.

Other things I've managed to get working to my tastes is the album artwork no longer shows on the lock screen. What a dreadful appearance. On my iPhone, the lock screen artwork looked gorgeous, this pixelated, stretched mess on Android for all music players I tried (Apple Music, Google Play, Spotify) looked garbage. I've had to turn off all notifications for the music apps, but I didn't need notifying that I was listening to music when I was listening to music anyway!

I went back to the BlackBerry Launcher so I now have a blob over my apps when there is a notification. I just find it easier to work through notifications when that is there.

I'm still struggling to come to terms with the keypad but touch typing is and always has been the most annoying things about smart phones for me. Sure, there's all sorts of different input methods now and some swear by Swype, but I hate it. I hate all the VKB's I've tried but am finding my feet with SwiftKey.
If anything, the more I'm getting to grips with Android software and making it work for me on this device, the more I yearn for the BlackBerry Priv back so I have that physical keypad too.
But for the price of that device compared to the price of this, it would be a very expensive physical keypad at £350 extra!:D

I still remain incredibly impressed with the included gel case and installed screen protector. What a great inclusion.

All that's left is for me to finally decide on a home screen(s) layout that I like. Which is proving difficult for me ha.

Phone itself though - absolutely fantastic. Well worth the money and extremely impressive.
Very pleased with my purchase! :)

Regarding screenshots in google photos. I am not sure if this is how the one plus x layout is but on my 6p, if you go into google photos, you should see 3 horizontal lines at the top left, click on it. After click on device folders. This sorts it by camera, screenshots, downloaded pics, apps pics (whatsapp, instagram, etc).

Regarding the keyboard, it seem you may prefer simplicity. Not sure what keyboad the oneplus x comes stock with however you can give Google Keyboard a try.

Thanks.
Just checked Google Photos - no option on this device to see screenshots. Just different albums that you may create yourself. Looked everywhere.
Another reason to hate the app. Such a backwards option.
Why screenshots wouldn't automatically save to the device is just beyond me.

As for the keyboard, the Google stock one isn't great for me. Swift Key is ok I think it's because it's such a tall keyboard that makes it tricky. My thumbs are having to stretch up and down to hit the desired keys. There's no chance I can type whilst looking at the body of text to see what I'm typing. Not yet anyway.
I'm stuck with watching the keypad so I hit the right key then looking up to check the word has gone in right. o_O

I'll get used to it I'm sure. :)

Fed up of being told there's a wi-fi option in work too every time I double tap the screen. I KNOW.
I don't use it as I get 4g and our work wi-fi is rubbish. Must try and find a way to disable that. Prob isn't an option too on this device though! ;)

Ok so an update for those interested about how I'm getting on!

I am really starting to find my groove with this device and beginning to love it.

Fixed my Google Photos - had to enable Google Drive and that has made screenshots save to the photos app automatically. Not really sure why - but I'm pleased anyway!

I've gone back to using Spotify for my music needs and find it to be a really good fit.
What I'm not crazy on with it though is the equalizer. I have it on all the time as it really helps when listening through headphones, but it plays up with my streaming over bluetooth and makes the volume very quiet. It even says in the options that having it on over BT streaming can affect the sound quality.
But that's not really the phones fault.

I am completely blown away with the lock screen navigation. Two finger swipe to pause / play. Draw a circle for the camera, a forward / back sign to skip a track / go back a track and a V for the torch on / off. BRILLIANT!
So intuitive.

The feel, weight and build of the phone is basically perfection. They really knocked it out the park with this.
The BlackBerry Priv launcher I'm using is also a great fit for me and I love that you can change these things with Android to suit.

Also moved over to Google Keypad with a dark theme and I'm finally happy. It works better than SwiftKey for me and after initially dismissing it, after a few days it is definitely the best VKB I've used on Android.

This will be the end of my impressions posts as I've done enough now ha, but I'm majorly impressed with all elements of this device, even the camera performs better than what I was expecting.
It's taken me a while to get it right, but with some perseverance and giving it a good run to see what I like and dislike, I've finally got it exactly where I want it. And it's goooooood! :)

Well, after long period of use, I can finally write my personal opinions on this phone.
This phone is build so that even iPhone 6 in my hands doesn't feel as good. But because of glass on back it is also quite slippery. I have ordered dbrand skin to fix that :)

Software is fast and fluid. At the moment I have iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. If I compare speed of UI to those above, only iPhone is faster. Xiaomi has way better animations and is as fast as OPX. But Note 4 is by far the worst in that matter.

Phone doesn't heat up, even when playing games. It gets a bit warm, but nothing warmer then any other phone I have tried/owned. Camera is by far it's worst part. Don't get me wrong, camera is OK, but even Xiaomi has better cam then OP X. I would say that the camera is average. Good day photos, but not so good at night.

One more complaint to make. Hardware keys don't have backlight, something that they really didn't need to save $$$ on. I got used to it, I know where to press without looking. But still... If someone hates this, they can easily turn on software keys.

Battery is also pretty good for such a small device. I can get thru day without any problems. But bare in mind that I don't use any social networks. I use viber, some games, navigation, lots of surfing and 5 email accounts, all synced.

There are some software bugs. I thought that latest update ruined battery life, but it appears that would be a wrong thing to say. When I start my day my battery life goes down from 100% to about 85% in a matter of 1-2 hours. Even if I don't use the phone much. But later on that really slows down. I think that Oxygen OS is displaying wrong percentage with the latest update. Something they will surely fix in a upcoming update.

Well, build quality is near perfection. This phone feels great in the hands, and can easily be managed with one hand only. Something I really appreciate. I already sold iPhone 6 and Note 4. Gonna keep this one and a Xiaomi Note for now and wait for iPhone 7.

But I really don't see me getting rid of this phone in near future. Perfect little thing for my needs. Beautiful phone that isn't large, battery is ok, screen is awesome and SD Card is just a huge plus. Only minus is camera, but I don't use phone cameras that much so... :)

Opted for the 2014 Moto X in the end. Same specs (except 1 less GB o RAM) but you get NFC, more bands, 2x storage, Moto support, and Marshmallow. Used my gf's student discount so it worked out £12 cheaper than the OPX (£187) and you get free shipping.

Hard to say no to that. Should do nicely as my backup phone.

This right here is my reasoning. People praise this for being good value, but every single one of these specs could have been put on a phone made in mid-2014. It would have been more expensive then, but just as expensive now. You can probably get an M8, or an LG G3 for this price, or a Moto X 2nd gen or even a OnePlus One for cheaper (some would prefer Cyanogen and the bigger screen and battery). I just don't see what makes the OnePlus X so special to be competing against today's flagships over early/mid-2014 flagships.

The design is the main selling point i think. Premium and pocketable.

Definitely the design. Those there phones mentioned are no where near in the same class, design wise. My opinion of course.

That's subjective. As somebody with a glass-backed phone, I would probably prefer the all-metal design of the M8, as would many others. The X is still very well built though, I agree.

Well count me as one getting the OnePlus One instead because of its selling price preowned. For some of the reasons you stated as well being the OS, bigger screen, and battery.

I was even thinking about the Moto X Pure as well but I could not resist the price I paid for the One I pulled the trigger on.

Some of us actually want smaller screen.
I had G3, great phone, except it's a lag fest. Had M8 as well, premium phone, excellent built, excellent software. But bulky and gets hot easily.

Had also OnePlus One. Software is way better then Oxygen OS, but screen is simply terrible.

And OPX isn't here to compete with the flagships. It's a mid range phone, but with premium looks and feels. And by premium, I mean it feels more premium in hands then any other phone out there. Of course, this is subjective point of view, but on one can be objective in design department :)

Design and form factor mainly. Try finding a phone that is around the same size as the Galaxy S4 and has a 5" 1080p display. You simply won't find anything except the Oneplus X because all manufacturers just have to go "more and bigger". The OPX is the perfect size for one handed use, the only drawback to the design is that it is rather slippery.

The hardware inside is roughly the same as the Oneplus One - which still runs very smoothly BTW (I have both). Fingerprint reader and the missing bands would be the only thing I would like to see in a OPX successor.
