Theoretically yes. But it isn't, since there are numerous reports that s615 also overheats like his bigger and stronger brother s810. You can google that up if you are interested. I would be happier if they managed to squeeze in s805 for the same price, but I will take s801 over s615 any day. Lets just agree to disagree? :)

Typo. I was referring to the 617, but fair enough. I won't disagree that the 801 is still very good, I would just rather an up to date chip. As you say, agree to disagree.

So I'm about to order a One Plus X. Too intrigued and the price and open invite for Black Friday means I'd be silly to pass it up. Quick question though... Does it have an SD slot? And is there a dedicated gallery app? I really hate Google Photos with a burning passion and don't want to download a gallery app from the Play Store. Thanks!

Yes to SD Card, no to dedicated gallery app. Get it! The minor give ups are worth it imo.

see the lack of gallery app is a huge deal for me. Google Photos is a terrible terrible app. I'm happy compromising on some things but that I don't think I could. :-/. I know it sounds a bit silly but it's the one thing that ruined my experience with my BlackBerry Priv recently (amongst other things) and it was kinda the final straw ha.

Ah dunno what to do now.

I've ordered it.

And yeah I can download one from Play Store but most of them are crap and they have ads. I don't want that for a god damn gallery app! I googled it though and apparently there is one that has no ads and is decent. So will try that.

Anyway, I ordered it coz 199.99 is just a steal. It's too good an opportunity to miss out on.

Now the waiting game. Didn't order a case but I will get one eventually if I decide to keep it as my main phone.

How'd you get it for $199?

Ohhhh my bad. I'm in the UK so it was £199! Pounds ha.

Still extremely cheap.

I'm kicking myself not ordering a case with it as I think it could be a keeper and now it's just dawned on me ill need to pay an additional delivery charge. Urge. The Karbon one looks amazing.

Those cases only add bulk to the device. If they were swappable back covers like on OPT, I would order at least two. Since I can't stand cases and protective shields around my device, I didn't order any :)

But what I did order is dbrand skin, so my phone won't be this slippery. Cheaper and more elegant for us who simply hate smartphone cases :)

It will be. It's pretty damn fluid, interface and animations are way smoother then any S6E for example. But there are those tiny little bugs that annoy me. Biggest of them, or to be exact, only one is really big - sd card bug.

2.1.3 update lets u transfer apps to sd card. Finally. But it still isn't copied to sd card, app remains in phone storage. And (default) camera app doesn't let u save photos directly to sd card, but u can manually transfer them as you please.

This is my main problem with the device. But since they update it regularly, that won't be issue pretty soon. But still, it's pretty damn silly to release a phone with sd card slot, and still manage to screw up software side of things for that sd card. But nothing major that a update won't fix soon.

Device simply feels premium, even more then iPhone 6 to me personally. And I really like that feel. Oxygen is smooth, screen is simply astonoshing for a 300€ device, and dual sim helps as well when needed. Battery life is also great, even with heavy usage I don't have to charge it before I go to sleep, which is really all i expect from a good battery.

Thanks that's a great write up!

I had a text this morning advising my item is on it's way from DPD but when I hit tracking it's still in China. They said they'd send another text when it was out for delivery. I'm guessing Friday or so - I ordered Saturday afternoon.

I have my 6S til then though, so in no rush at all for the device.
Looking forward to getting it though.
The issues you mention sound annoying but wont effect me I don't think.
I always save my photos to my device strangely ha and apps are always stored to device to. My memory card only ever houses my music collection but I think I'll keep my memory card in my Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and just by a new memory card for this phone.

I intend to use Apple Music / Google Play / Spotify once I decide which one works for me and go from there.

I like my 6S, so I am reluctant to get rid of it, but I need to start getting money together for my first house next year (big changes!) so it's time to get rid of some luxuries. If I can get a £199 phone that performs like this promises to though, it won't be giving up a luxury at all!

I'll post thoughts and impressions as and when it comes! :)

Finally got around to playing with mine. Glad OnePlus installed a screen protector by default cos i was dreading the scratches. The design seems to be a mix of iPhone 6 and iPhone 4. Very light and premium.

Software is buggy though. I couldn't even set up the device initially cos it hung at WiFi set up even though it was already connected.

The AMOLED screen is really impressive. Easily superior to the 2014 Moto X and Nexus 6 versions.

Its something that Apple would easily charge £/$800 for even with all the missing features.

PS MKBHD gave it a glowing review

Look's so amazing.

It is now in Birmingham UK which according to the tracking should then come straight to me.

It arrived in the Birmingham depot this morning at 6:23.

SOMEONE TELL ME IT'LL COME TODAY.

I do not want to have to wait til Monday!

Been using mine as a daily driver and its working surprisingly well. Still being reminded of why i don't like Chrome and prefer Safari as my browser of choice though. Apparently the new update even makes things better.

I have just switched from an iPad to a Galaxy Tab S2 and the one gripe I have with it is Chrome.

I rarely use the internet on my phone though, save for a Google search or quick check of something so I can't see it being too much of a problem on my One Plus.

I've tried a couple of other browsers on my Tab S2 and haven't enjoyed any so far so have just stuck with Chrome.

lightning web browser may be worth a shot, I like its adblocker and it feels smoother than firefox

I'll give it a go thanks!
Just got the One Plus x unboxed. Really really lovely phone. Do wish there was a slight bit more weight to it, but I intend to add a case I think which will do this.

Setting up though and already having problems. It's connected to my Internet but on the screen where it says checking connection, it just hung for well over 2 minutes. Did it a few times til I just skipped it but it had connect anyway!

Any who, it's set up so I'll be back later!

Mine did this too and then shut off. When I rebooted, it worked. So looks like its normal and will need a software update to address.

Very very very pleased with this phone. I still get LTE with ATT in many areas, even when it switches to HSPA+, i get like 2-3mbps download speeds. Still throughly testing so will post formal impressions later, but if anyone has questions, let me know.

So far feels much quicker than my s6, even with last year's hardware. I'd love a more expensive version with all the radio bands, nfc and a fingerprint scanner.

OK so I've had the One Plus set up and running for the majority of last night and all morning.

I guess I can now give some early impressions! I know I'm a bit far behind others who have already gone into detail on their thoughts about the device, but will add anyway.

So the build is, obviously incredible. I wouldn't say faultless, but it's as close to as you can get especially at this price point. I also really really loved the packaging. The white and red and how everything comes bundled in neatly. The inclusion of a rubber case is also fantastic as well as the screen protector. This is just a great additional extra which I found more than welcome. Massively impressed straight out the box.

Once I'd loaded it up, I spent some time downloading the update, installing it and then syncing all my accounts as well as getting all my apps on the device.
One thing that struck me about One Plus that I again found welcome, was the inclusion of their wallpaper selection. They all look great. I had a really hard time finding which wallpaper I wanted to choose whereas with my iPhone's I always end up downloading one I want.
I've changed it 4 times already since I've had the phone!

The phone ran a little warm but I think this is just an Android thing. And it was no where near the heat experienced on my recent Blackberry Priv. That thing could've cooked an egg!

I had some trouble with my contacts as they were all from sim and I was searching for ages trying to work out why I couldn't add contact photos. Then I realised they had to be stored on the phone. Once I'd worked that out I was alright ha. Android novice.

No gallery app was a big minus for me when I looked into getting the phone as I hate Google Photos with an absolute burning passion. One of the worst apps I've ever used.
I downloaded a gallery called 'Piktures' which is just fantastic. Really impressive.

Camera performed quite well. Annoys me that there is no thumbrella nail when a pic is taken. Find that a bit backwards. Don't really want to have to exit the camera app to go to Piktures to see it. Maybe changing to another camera app will change that?

Another massive niggle is notifications. I really don't like that there is no clear blob or number or anything over an app that has a notification. I know there is a notification bar for this very thing but all my phones have always had this. Samsung, iPhone and even the BBC Priv had its red splat over the app which I loved.
So I downloaded the Priv launcher and tried that out. It worked well but it isn't a Priv so it didn't feel normal using it ha. Does that sound odd?! I might get it again but I preferred the One Plus app draw layout although didn't appreciate that apps were sorted in alphabetical order with seemingly no way to change that. Although I guess I'll always know where they are. But this is Android?! Customisation overload! Where's my damn app drawer Customisation!

Staying with notifications, the previous Android devices I've used have employed a single swipe down to get to notifications. Why then, does this phone pull the whole menu down. As in I get the brightness option, all the quick toggle buttons like Bluetooth WiFi etc. I don't need these when I'm checking notifications. But they come down everything I do a swipe down unless I'm extremely extremely genteel which I don't want to have to worry about. That's annoying. Is it just Samsung that use 2 finger swipe down for the quick toggle menu? Because that makes more sense. Especially as the apps themselves don't show a notification, going back to my previous niggle.

The built in Swift key keypad is niggle ice and in love the Customisation. It's very impressive. One thing I don't like about it, is when you click to use symbols or numbers the space bar goes so you have to click to go back to letters in order to add a space. Annoying. Don't like the other keypads as much though overall, including Google and the Blackberry one. I'm a bit of a blackberry fan boy but I've never liked their virtual keyboard, something other BBC diehards would find hard to comprehend.

More niggles. I don't like the bar at the top with battery, WiFi and signal. Because I can't see percentage, I can't see what level of coverage I have be it 3g 4g or whatever. And that's just info I expect to be there. Can it be added?

I like this version of Android, close to stock. I prefer it to Blackberry's take on it but I still hate the stock Android settings. They look crap. Samsung have the edge there in my opinion. No pun intended ha.

All in all then it sounds like I have a lot of niggles which I do, but the phone itself is a keeper at this price. It's just gorgeous. A d a lot of the niggles I can iron out I guess I'm just not used to having to do that what with using iPhone for years. I should welcome the change and i do, but with some things you expect them to be there straight away when others do.

I haven't proof read this but I'm typing on my Galaxy Tab S2 and it's keypad tries to be really smart and it absolutely is not. So if some bits don't make sense it's not me, it's the damn keypad!

I'll post more maybe tomorrow after more time using it in the real world ha and give an update then.
