Still hasn’t kicked in for me. I gave up and just charge every other day when my battery gets down to about 30%. At this point I feel I can better protect my battery’s health than Apple’s mysterious algorithm.

I saw that some have the same problem as me. I have an Apple Watch Series 6 and I have activated Optimized Charging, but the device only charges up to 80% and only continues charging up to 100% if I do this manually by selecting "continue charging up to 100%". It is working differently than in the past when the device learned my sleep schedules and charged up to 80% at a certain time and, after a certain time, automatically continues to charge up to 100% before I wake up. Any way to solve this?

Looks like mine after months off stopping all together did the 80% hold between charging.
Still have not seen the MAX 80% hold though for the day turn back on.

I was reading more calmly the link they sent me and, in Series 6, the two options are embedded in Optimized Battery Charging. I hope that, over time, he will learn my habits and only do Optimized Battery Charging. In fact, as I always end the day with more than 60% battery, I believe that the system is charging only up to 80% precisely because I know that, with 80%, I spend the whole day with charge, not needing to always charge at 100%.

Mine had began to do that when WatchOS 10 dropped and i installed it as i too dont use more than 50% of my battery on average.
When i take off my Watch in the evening i either have left between 50-60% of battery so mine has started to do that 80% charge max each night but then it just stopped doing it all together and i have no idea why?

I didnt touch any of the settings nor change my habits/routine usage of the Watch :(

At least the charge hold finally came back last night so maybe soon the max 80% charge might start i again at least i hope so!

From what I read, the algorithm identifies if you are using low battery or a lot of battery during your day. Like me, you put your Watch on the charger with 60% battery left, so it understands that you don't need the 100% charge on the day.

My Watch only charges to about 76% now because of optimized charging - it displayed a message that I could change that behavior if I chose, but if this makes it last longer, I’m all for it. I never use all of the battery (or even half of it) in one day as it is.

Yep that's sounds right im just wondering what made it stop from working now though.
i do feel like its one of the WatchOS 10 revision updates. I think if i remember correctly after the main OS maybe the 2nd smaller update since then it just stopped working on its own.

I have a series 7 . When Watch OS10 came out OBC stopped working completely for about 3 months .
Then OBL started working , then stopped for a few days , then back on again .
Last night , out of the blue , OBC kicked in !
I have no idea why ... Just to let you know you are not alone in this boat ;-))))
