I’ve been using my 2006 Mac Pro 1,1 as my grunt, as well as a 2006 core 2 mini and 2006 core 2 MacBook. Going for the new M1 Mini.

MBP 16" Base to M1 MBP 512/16GB. Why? I wasn't a huge fan of the size of the MPB 16". I didn't really need the power. I also had some gripes with the 16. Size, it was loud/hot whenever I would use an external monitor, and the ghosting was annoying. I ended up selling the 16 a while ago and have been waiting to see what Apple would release. The M1 MBP looked too good to pass up. Now all I need is Parallels to release an update that lets me run a couple VMs and I will be all set. Worst case, I just do stuff on my homelab ESXi host.

coming from a base 2013 MBA 13inch screen. Ordered an intel one loaded back in March, returned it bc it got too hot and the fan constantly ran. So had just been using my iPad Pro as a replacement until something better came along. Now have just a base M1 MBA. Good thing about using the intel, determined i didn't really need a loaded one in the first place. So $899 for an M1 is just awesome! Still has yet to even get warm at all....machine is amazing.

Glad you’re happy with your decision.

I have a feeling this is the beginning where the Mac dominates.

Same M1 as I’ve ordered.

Mine arrives as late as the 22nd of December.

Went from 2012 Retina 15" MacBook Pro to a M1 MacBook Air. Really liking the smaller form factor, the battery life and the power considering the size. Really happy with my purchase.

From 2020 I5/16/256 MBA, to a base M1/8/256 MBP. Also use a 2018 Mac Mini at work daily, which will likely get replaced with AS iMac when available.

A Mid-2013 Macbook Air for me.
I bought an HP Windows laptop in March - worst laptop in the world. HP used to be so good. Despite having an Intel 10th gen processor it is made of flimsy plastic, has a slightly loose trackpad I had to fix...and the damned thing overheats all the time with the cooling fans sounding like a jet engine.
The thought of having a completely silent metal construction machine which is fast and well made enticed me to buy an M1 Air. I may donate the 9 month old Windows machine to someone I don't like !

My M1 MBA (1TB/16GB) directly replaced a 2018 13" MBP (2.7 GHz/512gb/16gb). I did a trade in on that MBP and Apple gave me $840 which i was happy with. It's an incredible upgrade over the MBP. More than 2x the battery life, nearly twice as fast in heavy tasks (handbrake), all while not getting hot, not having the annoying touch bar, and a much better keyboard.

Couldn't be happier and it makes me even more excited about what's to come. I have a 2015 27" Core i7 iMac that will be replaced when the Apple Silicon iMacs are released.

Sorry I missed that part... MBP M1 with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD. I chose it over the Air mostly for the brighter screen.
There are quite a few improvements with the MBP, compared to the MBA.

Do you have your machine already, or are you waiting for delivery? Mine is due to be delivered by 22nd December.

I am getting rid of my 2019 16" and 2020 13" MBPs listed in my signature. Replacing with a 2020 Base M1 Air for now, and will likely get a 14" 2021 Mx/M2
I’ll most likely use Apple’s trade-in program when the next revision lands.
