I’ll most likely use Apple’s trade-in program when the next revision lands.
You might see what the Apple trade-in will give you and also what a 3rd company will pay your system. The Apple trade-in for my 2019 16" was 300 USD less than what a 3rd party company will pay.

If you're in the UK (seems likely), then have a look at MusicMagpie's offer. I replaced a 2020 MBA and MM was better than the Apple TradeIn (and equally safe IMO). In the end I sold it on Ebay for an even better price. MM don't take all Apple laptops though.

I got £420 for my 128gb iPhone 11, through Apple.

I was content with that.

Could have maybe got more elsewhere, but I liked the simplicity with Apple.

I may even just keep my M1 MBP for use at my nan’s place, and buy the newer machine for home.

These machines are getting nothing but excellent reviews.

Looking forward to receiving mine.

I haven’t used a Mac in about 6 years (moved to iPads after Uni since all I was doing was web browsing, watching videos etc) Now I’m back studying again and my 2017 12.9 iPad Pro is struggling to cope with doing the work for a degree that’s moved to online teaching, apps are reloading all the time and Microsoft Teams is gorging on battery. I was debating waiting for the 2021 iPads but this seems like such an exciting time to get back into the Mac.

2019 16” MBP i7/32/1TB to MBA 16/512, still wondering if should have gone pro but really don’t like Touch Bar and likely to want a 14” mini led when they arrive so didn’t want to invest too much at this point

2014 iMac 27", the first generation with Retina 5K Display.
Still performs well and serves fine, not really in need for a new Mac, but as my children grow up it turns out we need at least two computers in our home, so I ordered a MBP 16/1TB with a LG Ultrafine 5K 27" Display.

Any reason for not getting another Pro?

Seeing the performance of the Air compared to the Pro (basically identical until you get to the temperature where you need to throttle) and then knowing what I use my laptop for (Xcode development and Safari), I figured it was a no brainer.

This thing is buttery smooth and hasn't ever gotten past slightly warm. To me it's like using an iPad Pro with macOS in terms of performance and feel.

I got my Pro M1 48 hours ago, coming from a 2020 MacBook Air i5 model, which was gifted to the babe :p

This machine is absolutely amazing.
I'm quoting you because I love your User Name. I love the National.

So I'm coming from a late 2013 rMBP and I'm still wallowing in my uncertainty. I want a slightly bigger screen or just something that feels revamped. I suppose I should really start playing around with apps to really experience this machine. I got the M1 MBP 8GB/512SSD on Nov 17th. I'm still trying to decide if I should wait for the rumored 14 inch or not. I know that even this MacBook is way too much computer for me so I'm just being ridiculous with this debate. I love how light weight and portable this feels compared to the 2013.

It's so weird for me to be on an up to date computer.

Glad you like it, it's my favourite song by The National :)

I think you're overthinking it. And honestly, would you feel like you were using a bigger screen if you were to upgrade from a 13.3 screen to a... let's say... 14.3 screen? No!

If you're stationary at the moment (covid and all) why not spending a couple bucks and getting yourself a good external monitor to hook up your Pro? Take a look at the DELL line for example. You'll easily grab a 24-27 inch QHD monitor with type-c that allows for monitor use + charging the MacBook with the same cable.

For me this is a side grade. I ordered the MacBook Pro 13" m1 with 512 gb of SSD in addition to the maxed out 4tb verison of the MacBook Pro 13" with i7 for my art studio. Been really liking the battery life for my m1 laptop since it is mostly my school laptop but sadly enough no 4tb version of it yet.

Back in March I upgraded from a 2017 MacBook Pro 13 to a 2019 16 MacBook Pro because I needed discrete graphics.

Ordered my new 2020 MacBook Pro 13 BTO last Tuesday, and I hope to get it before the end of the year.

Replacing my entry level 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro with an M1 MacBook Air. The Air feels so much faster than the Pro it’s not even fair. I’ll miss the large screen but otherwise it’s a big upgrade.
I have a 2019 15" MBP from work that I've been using for the last few months in my office. Coming from the 12.9" iPad Pro, the M1 MBA is going to feel bigger, but it will be smaller than my work Mac.

Upgraded the original 2018 Retina MacBook Air 256GB to the M1 MacBook Air 512GB. I also have a 2017 5K iMac and wanted a portable Mac that ran as fast and smooth as the iMac or an iOS device, and the M1 is exactly that. Also love the gold option.
