Just a heads up to anyone thinking of ordering when reading this thread. The apple back to school deals should be starting soon. They started Jun 2nd last year.

I am coming from a mid 2007 iMac that I did some upgrades on myself. For the last year I have also used a hackintosh but that did not seem to satisfy me.

I had a tough time deciding between the 512 ssd vs the 2 TB fusion drive. In the end I went for the ssd.
Also got the keyboard with numeric keypad and magic trackpad.

Says delivery will be at least 10 days, June 17, at the earliest.

Guess I'll do some drive cleanup in the meantime and order myself some 3rd party ram from Crucial.

Cheers!

When you guys bought your new machines, did you buy any extended warranties of any kind?

What is a definitive must have in that regard (worth every penny).

Just pushed the button, now to find 32GB of RAM...

Question, will this be noticably quicker than my late 2007 2.4Ghz dual core 24" which is still in daily use /s

Currently it says "Processing Items", and haven't had an update really since I got the "thank you for ordering" email.
From the moment it was on the page, it said by June 6th, but as soon as I clicked one upgrade, it changed to 14-16 June. That hasn't changed since either.

And depending on how much money I have left in the coming months, I hope to add 2x 16gb or 2x 8gb to upgrade the RAM.

Since I can finally order one, and I started saving in 2014 and made a site about it in 2015 .. Here's me putting the money together over the last few years with help from family & friends. They're pretty awesome.

By the way @op "I ordered the new iMac 27" last night almost immediately after the keynote."
Same here, but it took an hour or so .. iDeal kept erroring, I was not able to make up to 6 purchases, I had to restart the whole process until iDeal finally didn't time out and I was able to get to the page where you enter the hardware key details, etc. Talk about some stress..

I ordered mine from CA, 10-14 delivery date, it went into prepping for shipping a little while ago. I'm guessing that it will arrive on Monday given that it is shipping from china. I'd be surprised if it made Saturday.

Are all customized iMacs being shipped from China?
They should be. Someone back me up on this.
[doublepost=1496972491][/doublepost]FYI, my custom build changed from preparing to ship to "Shipped"!!!! waiting on the timing.

Ok, I was wrong, my custom build is shipping via UPS ground, so not from China. It's scheduled to deliver tomorrow.

I think so ... Fortunately on my side, I live in Hong Kong which is not far from China, and it expected to be delivered by Monday (12 June). It is currently under "Shipped" status

I ordered the new iMac 27" last night almost immediately after the keynote.

27-inch iMac with Retina 5K-display

  • 8GB 2400MHZ DDR4 - 2X4GB

As you can tell it's a CTO config(updated the SSD). Gonna do the RAM myself later on.
I choose deliver to store here in the Netherlands, estimated delivery is now 16th of June.

What's your ETA?

June 16th to 20th in Chicago---The estimate was the 15th, but I bumped the storage to a TB and the order was pushed back a day:

4.2GHZ QC I7, TB UP TO 4.5GHZ

8GB 2400MHZ DDR4 - 2X4GB

1TB FLASH STORAGE

AMD RADEON PRO 580 W/8GB VRAM

I ordered: 3.8 i5 / 8 GB / 1 TB SSD / Radeon 580 / trackpad.

ETA 19 – 21 June.

I was tempted by the i7 upgrade, but most of my work is poorly multithreaded so I would only see a few % performance gains. I also want a system that's as quiet as possible, so I chose the fastest i5. I'm hoping that with the lower power consumption of the i5, the iMac will stay quiet under heavy CPU load and that the only time I'll ever hear the fans is if I'm playing a game.

This machine is to complement my rMBP from 2012. I am really looking forward to working on the 5K display, and not hearing the fans scream at 6000 rpm whenever I compile something!

mid 27" 512GB SSD, found some extra for the i7, keyboard with number pad. 8GB ram - will do that later :)

Showing 20-21 Jun to just out of Melbourne, Oz.
