Gah mines been stuck in Hong Kong for 36 hours
I'm meant to get it tomorrow but I can't see that happening from HK to NZ in that time now.
"Clearance processing complete As Of Jun 13, 2017 02:54"
^ Arrived today. Whacked 32GB of extra RAM in it (for 40GB total) and put her through her paces.
It's sitting in a building with other iMacs waiting most likely for a UPS Flight out. It only takes one flight to have an issue to back things up. I had all kinds of this when I ordered my 7+ back in the day. It was on a UPS 744 that had a mechanical and couldn't leave. It went back into the warehouse for 2 days before getting on another flight to Anchorage. "Clearance Processing" is always a bottleneck in HK.![]()
I am in Hong Kong. There was thunderstorm warning 2 days ago and all activities was stopped, and I assume many backlog cargo that needs to be sorted out. It should be short delay.I'm DHL but it's probably the same deal.
I just had a look on here http://www.hongkongairport.com/flightinfo/eng/cargo_dep.html
and see that not many flights were delayed or cancelled yesterday so hopefully the DHL flight that left for Sydney has mine on board!
Brookzy - thanks so much for taking the time to run these comprehensive benchmarks and posting. I feel like the tech websites and media have just left us in the dark. For crying out loud, even Engadget said the new top 27" is "noticeably faster" and that was it. Finally thanks to your effort we have something REAL! Enjoy your new machine!!!!^ Arrived today. It flies...

(Also, strangely the new iMac is slightly taller than the 2015 one.)

Item was shipped yesterday and is in transit in Shanghai. Expected delivery tomorrow! (one day early)Ordered an i7 27" yesterday and expected delivery on 16/6-19/6. Coming from a 2010 MacBook Air (can't even play 720p YouTube videos smoothly). So excited!
SameMine originally said tomorrow, but now it's saying Thursday. Seems like they took too long getting it to UPS for delivery tomorrow. Oh well.
I ordered: 3.8 i5 / 8 GB / 1 TB SSD / Radeon 580 / trackpad.
ETA 19 – 21 June.
I was tempted by the i7 upgrade, but most of my work is poorly multithreaded so I would only see a few % performance gains. I also want a system that's as quiet as possible, so I chose the fastest i5. I'm hoping that with the lower power consumption of the i5, the iMac will stay quiet under heavy CPU load and that the only time I'll ever hear the fans is if I'm playing a game.
This machine is to complement my rMBP from 2012. I am really looking forward to working on the 5K display, and not hearing the fans scream at 6000 rpm whenever I compile something!
Installed Boot Camp and gave GTA V a go - it can actually just about handle 60 FPS (very occasionally dipping) at 1440p at max settings.^ Arrived today. Whacked 32GB of extra RAM in it (for 40GB total) and put her through her paces.

View attachment 703769 Ordered 06/07, looks to be building still... I'm still hopeful for delivery this week, but I think the math is eroding quickly for that.
