Gah mines been stuck in Hong Kong for 36 hours :(

I'm meant to get it tomorrow but I can't see that happening from HK to NZ in that time now.

It's sitting in a building with other iMacs waiting most likely for a UPS Flight out. It only takes one flight to have an issue to back things up. I had all kinds of this when I ordered my 7+ back in the day. It was on a UPS 744 that had a mechanical and couldn't leave. It went back into the warehouse for 2 days before getting on another flight to Anchorage. "Clearance Processing" is always a bottleneck in HK.

I'm DHL but it's probably the same deal.

I just had a look on here http://www.hongkongairport.com/flightinfo/eng/cargo_dep.html

and see that not many flights were delayed or cancelled yesterday so hopefully the DHL flight that left for Sydney has mine on board!

I am in Hong Kong. There was thunderstorm warning 2 days ago and all activities was stopped, and I assume many backlog cargo that needs to be sorted out. It should be short delay.

^ Arrived today. Whacked 32GB of extra RAM in it (for 40GB total) and put her through her paces.

It flies...

(Also, strangely the new iMac is slightly taller than the 2015 one.)
Brookzy - thanks so much for taking the time to run these comprehensive benchmarks and posting. I feel like the tech websites and media have just left us in the dark. For crying out loud, even Engadget said the new top 27" is "noticeably faster" and that was it. Finally thanks to your effort we have something REAL! Enjoy your new machine!!!!

Well I just got a pleasant surprise...... It's in NZ already! So I should get either late today or tomorrow morning :D What an emotional roller coaster ;)

No problem!

Ordered an i7 27" yesterday and expected delivery on 16/6-19/6. Coming from a 2010 MacBook Air (can't even play 720p YouTube videos smoothly). So excited!
Item was shipped yesterday and is in transit in Shanghai. Expected delivery tomorrow! (one day early)

Mine is supposed to come in tomorrow. I ordered the 4K iMac with 16 GB ram, the i7 processor and the Radeon Pro 560 graphics card. I wanted the SSD upgrade but didn't quite have the cash for it, so I settled for the fusion drive for now. May upgrade it to SSD some day, if I get brave enough to open it up. Not a big deal, as right now I am working on an entry 21.5 Mac with a 5200 HDD. It's sloooooooooow. Can't wait to install bootcamp and play some games on it. I'm kind of a Street Fighter enthusiast. :)

Mine originally said tomorrow, but now it's saying Thursday. Seems like they took too long getting it to UPS for delivery tomorrow. Oh well.

I worked all night on tidying up the place. Cleaning the room. And reviewing what I want where and all that.

Today it should arrive. Ups still tells me it will be today. Their two date listing for uodated to just one as it left belgium

I can't wait. And congrats to all who received theirs without issues.

Any tips for me to look out for ??

I ordered: 3.8 i5 / 8 GB / 1 TB SSD / Radeon 580 / trackpad.

ETA 19 – 21 June.

I was tempted by the i7 upgrade, but most of my work is poorly multithreaded so I would only see a few % performance gains. I also want a system that's as quiet as possible, so I chose the fastest i5. I'm hoping that with the lower power consumption of the i5, the iMac will stay quiet under heavy CPU load and that the only time I'll ever hear the fans is if I'm playing a game.

This machine is to complement my rMBP from 2012. I am really looking forward to working on the 5K display, and not hearing the fans scream at 6000 rpm whenever I compile something!

Preparing for shipment!

The delivery window from Apple is 19th – 21st, but I guess there's a vague chance that it ships today and I get delivery on Friday.

I'd probably already have my iMac if I hadn't cancelled my original order, and downgraded two days later from the i7 to the i5 and from the numpad to the small keyboard. Oh well.

I ordered a BTO on the 8th.

Delivery estimate was 19th - 21st.

But it's here (Ireland --> Finland) today (14th) ... geez, that was fast. Unfortunately, I was at work when they visited my house - and naturally since UPS delivers at random times during office hours, I'll have to distance work tomorrow to be able to receive the package then.

With another delivery service, I received an SMS asking me to reply my preferred delivery time (e.g. morning 8-10, evening 17-19), but with UPS that's a no-no. Randomness prevails.

Ah well, I'll feel better when I get my hands on the device!

View attachment 703769 Ordered 06/07, looks to be building still... I'm still hopeful for delivery this week, but I think the math is eroding quickly for that.

Mine flipped to Preparing for Shipment last night, and this morning I found that it has travelled from Sunnyvale CA to San Pablo CA (UPS shipment), with a target delivery date of Monday. I'm assuming that timing means a slow truck from the West Coast to the MidWest.

I know others have commented on this, but I was surprised to see this BTO iMac coming from California rather than China. I've already got 64GB of memory sitting on desk, awaiting it. Now, to daydream about filling the regular hard drive slot with something interesting... :)

Im still in processing. I ordered June 8, around 7pm pacific time. Shipping to Canada
