Just had a tense moment when my card issuer declined the charge for my new 256 12.9 and then, once I got the transaction authorised, something seemed to go wrong on Apple's end as the 're-try' was sending a zero value (I was on the phone with the bank - they could see 0-value requests coming in).

So, quick call with Apple Help and all sorted...

Anyone else noticed on the IVR system that, when it asks your order number, you can hear someone typing? At that point they must flip over to an operator to type in your information!

I noticed that too but it’s just Apple trying to be more human. Typing is just a sound clip while they are connecting to their servers and loading your info.

Keyboard and pencil changed to preparing to dispatch about an hour ago. Ipad went to preparing to dispatch in the last 10mins.

Excited!

Ok for those of us that have all of our stuff sitting in Hong Kong right now (and for the past few days), flight UPS63 is now scheduled for 3:45am Hong King time which is about 8 hours from the time of this post (2:45pm central time). So if the path for our iPads is supposed to be directly to Anchorage then we have a possibility that we will see some departure scans this afternoon.

I, for one, will feel a bit better to see them leave China so we have one less possible customs hold to delay things. I certainly don’t want another fiasco like the iPhone fiasco a couple years ago where UPS let a ton of phones sit in China for four days causing them to be delivered late past the release date. That was not fun at all.

Was just coming on here to share that information as well! For those looking to follow the flight, I believe this is it (Please, correct me if I am wrong): https://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS63/history/20181103/2010Z/VHHH/PANC

UK order here, finally changed from processing to "preparing for dispatch" and my card has been chanrged. The date is still set for the 7th.

It looks like flight UPS63 goes to Louisville, KY 2 hours after landing in Anchorage. Will the shipment of iPads (and other devices) on the flight be on that flight as well to Louisville?

Yes they will. There’s always a chance that part of it could be pulled off the plane in Anchorage for customs inspection though and will have to catch the next flight. Ask me how I know this.... grrrr still bitter at that. Lol

same here (also in uk)
had a small heart attack when i saw my card balance, wondering what it was that i'd bought that now meant there wouldn't be enough available for the iPad, before realising that it was probably because Apple'd charged me.

Just did the trusty "search by reference" on UPS (put your phone number in that field) and WHAMMY! HERE IT COMES! iPad 11!

I'm kinda in the same situation..only because i have a 2 week trip starting on the Nov 15 (and I'm slated for the 13th - 16th). Hopefully I get it on the 13th or 14th OR magically it comes a little earlier so I can take it with me, but if there's a hint it might come after or if it gets pushed back, I just might try the store. (Its funny though...if I do receive it early and i do get to take it, the new iPad will have more flight miles that I would in the same week lol)
I'm in the same timeframe. I'm going to check stock at our Apple store on the 7th to see if I can pick up one there & cancel my order. Otherwise, just have to wait.

Received PFD confirmation earlier today in UK. Probably will not get tracking information though until Tuesday evening going by previous experience.

Anyone have a recent departure scan from Hong Kong?
My iPad's last update is an arrival scan in HK on 11/1 at 3:59pm... Hoping for an update soon especially with UPS63 flight leaving HK about an hour ago. Should be updated in an hour or two if it made that flight

Yeah, that’s what I’m hoping for as well here. It’s common that it can take a couple hours for UPS’ system to catch up but it’s not looking too good right now. There is always the possibility that the scans won’t be updated until the plane lands in Anchorage and gets an arrival scan. That’s what happened with my wife’s pencil the other day, it wouldn’t update until it got to the next place. Once it left Japan the tracking was fixed though...updates came pretty quickly. I just hope this don’t turn out like it was I think two years ago when my phone was stuck in China for four days....there was another group that had their phones go to Hong Kong and they had absolutely zero updates for days. Then the night before release day their phones went from Hong Kong to Louisville all at once. No scans of any sort between the two cities....
