I wonder if legendary singer Beyoncé still uses hers...

Not a chance. Sitting in some drawer somewhere. Probably with its screen hanging off due to battery swelling.

Once Apple said they weren't going to offer internal component upgrades for these $17,000 watches, I knew they were never really expecting to sell any. It was all a "aren't-I-the-best-designer-in-the-world" fantasy ego stroke for Jonny Ives.

People buy gold watches (and other jewelry) all the time. I would be surprised if another gold smartwatch were not attempted pretty soon. As mentioned before, the watch would have to be able to be serviced over a long time, at least 10 years

That's why I always buy the cheapest available AW and sell every 3 to 4 years to recoup a bit of the investment and buy a new one. There is no way I would pay more than $500 in an electronic watch. I don't mind paying thousands for high end mechanical watches that last a lifetime and I can pass to my kids.

Replaced my Series 0 with an Ultra 1 last year. Was a mega upgrade. I guess I need to wait for the next Apple Watch category before I can upgrade again.

I sit here looking at my new Ultra 2 and fully acknowledge it is merely a wrist appliance, not an heirloom piece.

The battery won’t last forever nor will the soft(ware) endure over the hardware of engineering elegance and timelessness of an automatic mechanical watch.

Pretty sure some Chinese billionaire's failson bought a pair for his pet tiger to wear.

Probably, I’m not sure some people understand how this isn’t even pocket change to many many people out there. At one of the local universities not far from me it’s common to see kids that attend there cruising around in 300,000 dollar cars their parents bought for them. 17k for a watch is nothing to these people.

Only in my health, which it does help increase that through motivation and statistics.
Ok, but we're talking about something completely different here — resell value. I support your investment in your health, but you don't need the $17000 model — you can do it all with the SE.

I used my Series 0 until the Series 7 came out. I probably would still be using it had the screen not fallen off! Really typical gen-1 Apple Product - showed some promise but overall kinda kludgy and not very useful.
Yup. Always wait for 4th gen core Apple products

Iphone
iPad
Apple Watch

Yep, pretty much. In another 30 years, some joker will auction one of these off for $250K...
I was one of those jokers that bought one of those hoping to flip it within 30 days to some desperate rich person. Didn’t happen so I returned it but I did consider just holding onto it sealed in box for exactly this, but I didn’t really have that kind of money laying around. I never actually had the money, I used my credit card and got the amount refunded back to me.

Before returning it I did open the box and checked it out, it was heavy, and spectacular.

Used my Series 0 for 5 glorious years.
I went from a Series 0 to a Series 3 and never regretted it. The Series 0 was so painfully slow and the battery life was awful. I barely used it because of that. It was the Series 3 that got me to finally wear it all the time. I can't even imagine putting up with a Series 0 for 5 years.
