I have a new iMac 5K which I've just successfully upgraded to 10.10.4.

I have an external Thunderbolt drive bay with a Samsung 840 EVO in it, and looking in system profile I can't find it anywhere. (I do see it in finder). I've enabled TrimForce for it, but would like to be able to see it in the profile to verify that Trim is in fact enabled for it. I've looked both in the thunderbolt section as well as the SATA, where of course it doesn't show up. Any suggestions?

Have you looked in "Storage"? What is the message in the "Thunderbolt " section?

Lou

Thank you bobbba. I looked and looked before and didn't see it... looked again after your post and there it was... with Trim enabled.

Using MacBook Pro 2009 with 10.10.4 with Trim Enabler.
I wanted to use the sudo trimforce command and messed up my SSD.
I forgot enabling kext signing and now, after I did the trimforce my MBP
is showing the Gray sign.
Tried to enter Recovery HD mode but it shows the Gray sign too.

Any ways I can fix this without reinstalling OS X?

What should I do in order to enable trimforce again without make any damage?
I need to restore the kext signing back? If the answer is yes, how do I do it? What is the command I should use?

^^^^Look here:

Although I bet it's turned on if you followed the above steps.

To enable Trim - In Terminal:

sudo trimforce enable

As explained on Page 1 of this thread.

Lou
Well, I followed this article before.
I deleted Trim Enabler, then applied the command mentioned in this article
above ("sudo nvram -d boot-args") to enable back kext signing.
Then I ran the "sudo trimforce enable" command.
When my MPB did a restart, it showed the Gray sign.

I am afraid to do the "sudo nvram -d boot-args" and run into trouble again.
Any suggestions?

I followed those steps to get my MBA to boot again today.

but what is the problem, is there any real difference using TRIM enabled with DiskSensei or TrimEnabler ... and now the latest "trimforce" by Apple?
With those apps you have to disable kext sign and that causes problems with OS updates unless re-enabled before updating. Trimforce doesn't disable kept signing and is built into the OS

The scariest update ever! MBP made a weird sour nd after restart(read about that so was cool) and kept restarting every 2 seconds or so like it couldn't boot for about 5 times. Didn't know whether to switch it off or leave it on, but glad I waited and it booted successfully

Wrong. Obviously referring to all cases as the new method wouldn't work prior to 10.10.3

if it is clear ... it should now be "safer" to use the front door that put Apple.
but those rumors have turned SSD TRIM failing to use as the Samsung 840/850 had me worried .. although I have not seen anyone on the forum who has lost data by using TRIM.

Has anyone noticed their machines running significantly hotter on 10.10.4? The area right above my hard drive is warm to the touch. Temperature says its 37 C. Not sure if that's a 10.10.4 issue or if its at all related to the TRIM command. A quick look at the activity monitor doesn't show any unexpected disk activity.

Was thinking about disabling native TRIM and reinstalling Trim Enabler to see if that makes any type of difference. Because I switched to native TRIM right after upgrading to 10.10.4, I'm lacking cause / effect.

Did not help. Another thing: Last week I bought a new mac mini and install there SSD Sandisk Ultra II. But it also shows me a 150-160mb\s with trim enabled. System is clean with some apps.

First test shows 300Mb\s speed, but second and next one only 160.
Try using Disk Sensei to trim the entire drive

I'm sitting here being all jealous about you people with superfast 160 MB/s speeds... here's my Kingston SV300S37A120G

DO NOT BUY KINGSTON SSDS. Unless you want to buy mine. Then by all means please do.

(TRIM enabled, fsck -fy performed)

I closely followed the workflows here in this thread about disabling and deleting Trim Enabler, updated to 10.10.4 with the ComboUpdater. Used the TrimForce command line, smooth as a hot knife cutting butter updated release of OS X 10.10. No issues so far.

Wow. It makes me wonder how accurate either Black Magic or AJA System Test are. Because AJA gave me this result:

That's 496.9 MB vs 96.2 MB write and 478.8 vs 236.4 MB read!!!
