I've got a MBP 2011, obviously without a Retina display. Can anyone share how the new system font (Helvetica Nue, I believe?) looks on non-Retina displays, please?

Do old SMS and MMS messages and also iMessages of times before Mac had it sync to Mac's Messages app or is iPhone STILL my only place where ALL my Messages are?

Bonus question: How's searching messages? Does it still suck?

Do SMS and message conversations converge? That is I won't have a SMS text conversation and a messages conversation anymore?

Also can you send really large files over messages? I'm waiting for that feature to come back.

This install is an upgrade to 10.10 from 10.9.4: Gremlins may have carried over or hatched in the process, I'll do a fresh install later and re-check.

So far the apps I have that do not work are :

Final Cut Pro X

iMovie

iOS 8 dictation will support 24 new languages. Can any one check whether Yosemite will also increase the languages supported in dictation from the 8 supported in Mavericks? Thanks!

Can anyone tell me if Mail works better with Gmail? Since Apple has moved towards support "tags" in Finder, I was hoping they'd bring that over to Mail, which would improve Gmail compatibility immensely.

Retina macbook pro 15 ui fonts at 2880x1800

Hi,

Anyone can share how is the UI interface running at full retina resolution (2880x1800)? .. Can you make bigger/smaller the fonts from settings?... Currently I'm running OSX Mavericks at full retina resolution but sometimes is hard :-(

Thanks in advance

Man, that new Finder icon is going to get some getting used to. It's not the flatness, it's the fact that the smile is bigger. Hasn't been changed since it's inception since Mac OS 7, I think.

Hahaha yes it has, a new finder icon was introduced in panther, and before that there was a more grumpy looking one in 10.0 Cheetah, 10.1 Puma and 10.2 Jaguar.

Someone needs to put a tutorial on how to make a 10.10 Install USB (if its different than 10.9)

It'll come in handy cause I plan to install it clean when I upgrade from Mavericks. (When the Public Beta comes out, for the DP I'll probably have a separate partition)

It's evolved slightly, but the smile has always looked the same.

The Finder icon has been getting happier and happier with each OS X release
