Do you get make it works?
No, :( spent 3 days trying to get el capitan running on the mini. I ended up going with yosemite and wish i did that earlier. Though yosemite isn't perfect either, I cannot get any kext for gma950 to work and no wifi, only bluetooth.

I feel that it did not work. I would like to know the why, in order understand it. I have seen, while I installed the OS X Hackers, the application requires Capitan beta OS app en Applications Folder.
You can see this on ToolTip over El Capitan checkbox. But I had copied the Apple Relese version and I have no warning message.
Is it possible that this were the problem?

No one has tried to installed El Capitan with a MacMini 2.1?

I have got El Capitan to work with a MacMini 2.1 using the method in post 501 - essentially using a supported mac to create a system on an external usb disk, running some terminal commands etc. and then using Superduper to clone the system to the internal drive of the mini.
As a client machine it is not worth it, but as a headless server it is a very good idea. I am running Server 5.1.7 and iTunes with home sharing. I am using an SSD for the system disk and some data, and a firewire disk for Time Machine backups. The SSD is a good idea, as it really makes the server very responsive. I also replaced the DVD drive with a PATA to SATA caddy. I then used an esata cable from the caddy to an esata enclosure holding archive data. Both external drives spin down saving energy. (The esata enclosure also has firewire, but when using that, the disk never spins down, a well known complaint with some chipsets and later OSes.) When I did the first system update, I lost usb and GMA950 functionality, but of course that does not matter.

You used the method described in post 501, and in this post, of skyfly555, he says: "When I have time, I'll describe into this thread how I've done this.".
The steps described in post OS X El Capitan on Unsupported Macs are the steps you used for your MacMini 2,1, JessieComputers?
If I understand correctly, the MacMini 2,1 is same machine that MacBook 2,1, isn't it?

Thanks a lot

The window "Creating MacPostFactor Recovery (small)" opens and then system reboots.
My Mac is MacBookPro 2,2.

Yes, acayon, the steps in post 501 and 502. I don't know about the MacBook 2.1.

Thanks JessieComputers. I tryed tutorial of post 502 and I can run El Capitan on Mac Mini 2.1, but:
  1. If I don't copy the kexts files of step 7 into external HDD, it starts without problems and with SIP activated, but the Bluetooth is not avaliable.
  2. If I copy the kexts files of step 7, sometimes I can run Desktop, sometimes I can only arrive to apple startup screen, and always I get crash screen.
I suppose, but I'm no sure, that the fails come from to copy too much kexts files, and maybe the AppleHDA.kext file which is the only one that already exits in /Volumes/Capitann/System/Library/Extensions/.

Could you explain me the steps to do in order to get the Bluetooth works? (Also video or some other necessary files)

Thanks a lot.

Hi acayon, I do not use bluetooth. I just turned on screen-sharing on the external usb system, when connected to the supported mac, so that setting got cloned across. I really would only recommend a headless server set-up.

Thanks JessieComputes. I will continue trying to make it works, and if I get a stable MacMini I will post it.

Trackpad and keyboard on "Welcome screen" not working. Help me, please.
I had this problem too with the newest MacPostFactor (Mountain Lion) on my Macbook4.1, but the keyboard worked. A lot of problems arose with the new MacPostFactor. I suggest you try 1.0.1 first. I had no problems with that version.

I was trying differents configurations and I discover that the problem was not the kexts. The problem seam to be Bluetooth Trackpad. Also I have problems with Bluetooth mouse. I only can use El Capitan normally with USB Mouse.
  • Booting with Apple Bluetooth Trackpad without battery and switch it on, I get crash screen.
  • Booting with Apple Bluetooth Mouse (Old mouse:
    thumb.php
) I can use buttons and ball, but I can't move mouse pointer.
  • Apple Bluetooth Keyboard (OLD keyboard with 3 AA battery) and Apple USB Mouse works fine.

Any suggestion?

skyfly555 could you help me?

Thanks.

EDIT:
Also I have problem with Recovery Partition. I can see the partition in boot menu, but when I try to boot from this partition, El Capitan starts like if I boot from Main Partition. Is it normal?

This problem I'm familiar with, just recently corrected my own recovery partition.
You need to replace the "boot.efi" file in the Recovery Partititon for the modified one, same as the one you installed in the Operating System.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum.

I got a mid-2007 black MacBook 2,1 and I successfully installed El Capitan by cloning from another Macbook Pro I have,
according to skyfly555 's method in post #502.

However, I failed to get audio & gma950 kexts working if I clone the OS to an external HDD.

So I use a firewire cable to clone el capitan directly to the Macbook under target disk mode, and both sound and graphic works during the first boot.

But after I installed nosleep extension & shades, the os won't have sound and graphics loaded again after reboot.

Is that a problem related to SIP or dev-mode? If yes, does that means it can't be solved if we still cannot figure out how to enter the recovery partition to disable the SIP?

I've tried entering single user mode during boot and type:

sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1"

in order to force dev-mode again, like what I made sound and graphics working in yosemite installed in this machine before.

But still didn't work, any clue on this?

Thanks everyone.

EDIT: I end up using Jon's method in post #569 by repairing the kext permission again from my SIP disabled MBP, but I wonder why the kexts won't load at the first time when I have cloned the disk, really strange.

I try to copy the boot.efi into Recovery partition and after reboot, I start Mac Mini into this partition, but when boot arrives into the message "Waiting for DSMOS", boot stopped. Any idea?

Also I have two additional questions:
  1. Is the video with VLC application playing well? I can't only hear audio but video Window is no pressent (I tryed to uninstall and reinstall, but I can't get it). I tryed Movist application and I can play video and audio but it plays jerkily.
  2. Does nobody have problems with bluetooth trackpad?

Hey peeps. If your coming across dead link in post 1, I apologize. I messed up some of the links when I redone the site and backend servers.
Please go the the original domain to download and install Extractor and MacPostFactor.

I will also release beta patches and Kexts Thursday
