i'm having a slight issue here trying to install Yosemite on my Mac Pro 1,1 upgraded to 2,1 processor upgrades and so on. When i try to install Yosemite using MacPostFactor I get stuck at the page where it ask you to skip the ad, well i click skip ad it it doesn't proceed with the installation sometimes it gives me some other kind of garbage ad as well as other times just gives me a white box where the ad use to be. Did anyone get past this I've been trying to get past this for weeks and no one has solved this issue on google. any help would be appreciated. I've tried right clicking and reload and it'll either do nothing or just go back to that ad. I HATE ADS! WHY DO WE HAVE ADS this is the 2016 View attachment 667490 View attachment 667491 View attachment 667490 not 2003 where everyone would click an ad and get a virus lol View attachment 667490

it is very surprising that people are not willing to help people that are asking for help. i need some intel gma950 X64 kext for yosemite and it is like no one sees my post. i am really starting to consider using another forum website that has a guide and people that are willing to help.
Working GMA 950 Beta kext is in OSX Extractor in first post. You have to remember that there is partial graphics acceleration at the time, because of GMA's 950/X3100 lack of necessary instructions used by Yosemite. Also you have to notice that people who working here on all those thigs that allow you to install Yosemite on unsupported machine do it for free and using their free time for it. No one is here everyday to answer the questions and sometimes answer for specific question/issue is still unresolved so in this case no one will answer you because there is no answer yet. Also remember that Sierra is out and all programmers have additional task to do because they are now working on three systems: 10.10/ 10.11 and 10.12.
Cheers

im sorry for the way i was. i messed up my yosemite install and now i am trying to reinstall it and get everything back to the way that it was. i can get it installed but the graphics are not working. it has been driving my mad. i finally got it installed and somewhat working. i am aware that the intel gma950 graphics are not fully supported but i at least got them working to the point that animations are running mostly smooth. the only problem now is that it was that it is a intel gma950 graphics but it only shows that it is using 10 MB of Video Ram. i am now trying to get it to use all 64 MB of video ram. if anyone has any idea on how i can do that it would be very helpful.

I use Yosemite with a X3100 graphic card and the graphics are a mess. Windows don't refresh on time, mouse disappears, webpages blink, laggy youtube...and after installing the kext (I get an Installation failed message) It starts going very slow, even the mouse isn't smooth. If I can't fix it, I'll probably go back to lion or mavericks.

what app are you using to install the kext on the system? i found that kextbeast worked for me.
http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/08/kextbeast-simple-kext-installer.html
you need to make an account to download the app but once you do that it is as simple as follow the directions and it should work. i can't make any guarantees but it worked for me so why not.

I'm using the default graphics kext installer mpkg provided on the OS X hackers patcher files folder, so I can't install them with another program

ooo ok. if you have the kext files them selfs then you can use kextbeast to install them and they should work. i can't make any guarantees because they are not fully supported but if you can find the kext then give them a try.

Well, I've just remembered I got the kexts and installed them with kexts utillity. But same result, glitchy and laggy graphics (more laggier than without the kexts installed) Also, it said 6MB on graphic memory in "about this mac". Can it be due to the fact that I installed it with OS X Extractor instead of with MacPostFactor? Because now I've installed Mavericks with MacPostFactor and it recognizes the 144MB graphichs card and everything goes smooth.

1. Install kext from osx extractor
2. Reboot and hold command + S during the boot to boot in single user mode
3 type:

sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1"

4. reboot Yosemite and enjoy

Also working with X3100 kext

it might be because they had more time to work on mavericks kexts then yosemite but that is my guess. i am only taking a guess i am not a programmer for anything but i guess that is how life is.

sadly this did not work for me. but performance is about the same as the install i had before other than the blocky windows. but i guess that i come to be expected from a hack. really that is all i want to do is try and reduce the blocky edges on windows. as long as everything is running as it was before the previous install got messed up (everything is running as it was with the kext installed) i really dont care what about this mac says. also it might be because of the lion recovery but i cant boot the recovery for the yosemite install from macpostfactor. it shows the logo for a split second but then procides to boot yosemite and not the recovery. i have installed the recovery patcher and software update patcher but nither have worked. wish i can just go back in time and stop my self from screwing up my install of yosemite as i had everything the way i liked it.

You installed it on the partition that you made for previous install or you deleted those previous install partitions and create a shiny new and fresh partition for new install? This is important.

Hello folks

just wondering if someone could help me out with this topic. Had a few questions in regards to understanding what is going on plus my own requirement.

I have a macbook pro A1260 and I just fried the machine by plugging in a fake USB expander.

this machine was running YOSEMITE and is an "approved" yosemite machine.

I have a MACMINI which is the A1176 which I have upgraded with core2 duo 7200 CPU and also 4GB of RAM.

in essence this is 1,1 upgraded to a 2,1 (note) I havent done any flashing on it. but it boots fine with the new CPU ram etc running an old version of OSX.

If I take the YOSEMITE drive and load it up onto another MAC as a secondary drive and EDIT the PLIST file will this suffice in terms of allowing the MAC MINI to boot?

to add to this the A1260 NEVER is used on the internet so of course I have no requirement for MAC updates etc that could potentially wipe the modded PLIST file. If i can update the mac mini to yosemite i also have no need for it to go online.

this whole process I get confused with the relevant patches etc as it would seem a lot of the patches is a process to PATCH the yosemite install to work on the NON YOSEMITE machine. Plus also to effectively stop it from re patching itself with apple updates etc re modding the PLIST to make the machine non usable again.

this is great but it seems like quite a complex process and riddled with potential mistakes and problems.

but i also see a lot of youtube stuff where by people are modding Xserves etc to work by just installing YOSEMITE on an "allowed" yosemite machine then modding the PLIST file then just hoofing the drive across the to "non allowed" yosemite machine.

as most of us on this kind of level have a pile of machines around this method seems relatively simple.

but my main question is have I understood the process correctly for this "ghetto" method to work OR are all the EFI updates, patches etc still required.

hope this makes sense its quite difficult to explain.

thanks :)

i created a second partition as i wanted to keep lion incase i could not get the graphics working on yosemite. but now that i have gotten yosemite working as it was in my previous install before all the bullcrap happened i really dont need the lion install anymore. plus i have a lion disk if i want to reinstall lion for any reason. is my lion partition/install causing the blocky windows. (P.S. the blocky windows also have squares in the corners).

no because you mac mini is not an approved machine it will not boot yosemite even if you modify the plist file. even if you got it to boot there would be no driver for basically anything. if you have a yosemite installer you can use macpostfactor to create a usb drive that will allow you to install yosemite on that mac mini and it should have most of the drivers. (P.S. Drivers for Mac are also knows as kext). if you go this route and find that the graphics kext are not installed after the install then you will need to find some and install them using kextbeast. from there it should be simple to make everything work but i can not make any grantees.

It will work but in my opinion using MCPF is much easier then manually changing plist. There are people who have done that before just search for them in this thread

You have lion on one partition and made second for Yosemite which is right. You have installed yosemite more than once on this prepared partition for yosemite? Because when you want to install it again you have to delete entire old yosemite partition and make a fresh partition again. Don't know why installation on previously used partition is messing up but i had similar problems and what helped me was to delete (not erease, DELETE) Yosemite partition entirely and then make a new one. Worked like a charm

i have fully deleted the yosemite partition more than once even going as far as formatting the entire ssd. but even that made no difference to the blocky winows and squares in the corners of the windows. anything else that you might be able to come up with?

I just release macOS Extractor 1.4.1. Try the kext installer again and let me know. Also how's the performance?
the preformance is what you expect out of a 10 year old machine. give or take but i will try to install a new copy of os x yosemite and maybe one day i can get el capitan to install. yes i have seen your guide on it but when i click install it begins then randomly reboots and crashes. i will let you know what it does when i get home from school today.

Sorry for not replying earlier. I'll compare this windows from your photo with my osx and then i will try to give you a solution. Also maybe some things will work for me but not for you because as I see you have MB 2.1 and I have 3.1 with different GPU

I have a mac pro 2,1 that I loaded yosemite on with the piker alpha pre-installed yosemite usb installer.
It works fine with a radeon 280x card.

But when I try to update to 10.10.5 it hangs during startup.
Is there something I have to do before installing an update?
