Is it just me?

I have a Macbook 4,1. I have had Yosemite for almost a year now and everything has been working flawlessly (Thank you OSX Hackers team), but since the last extractor update, every time there is an OS update, I loose audio.

The curious thing is that I reinstall the GMA X3100 kext bundle (OSX Extractor version July 2016) but it seems that the HDA audio kext does not get properly installed, so I have to go to the early 2016 version of the extractor, decompress the HDA kext and install it back with the Kext Utility.

This fixes the issue until the next update. Any ideas?

Man, just did the update the way you told. After reboot holding Option key, there are only 2 options. Macbook hd and macbook hd recovery. When I choose recovery, the texting OSX HACKERS shows up quickly then the crossed circle. No way out of it.

0.5 - Edit: Also before you update you need to uncheck one of the Apple's updates - go to AppStore and see contents of package that it want to install. There is something like "Security Update of Recovery Partition 1.0" or something like that - uncheck it, you don't need it and this update changing things on recovery partition (whick is specially prepared for unsupported machine) so..well you've seen what happened when you kept it checked.
1. After update you need to restart your MacBook holding Alt/Option key then choose Recovery drive from available drives menu (you should see 3-4 drives :With OSX Lion, Recovery for Lion, OSX Yosemite and Yosemite recovery).
get into recovery drive which is OSX Hackers recovery and hit "Rehack". because update changing some files and things in system you need to rechack it. After any update of course.
2. Brightness cannot be adjusted - as I know for this moment there is no solution for this issue.
3. It is ok. You can also manually set monitor to not go to sleep. What are issues? One, very simple but annyoing. Your computer will sleep all the time until restart. Yeah after going to sleep it cannot wake itself, don't know why. You need to restart to use your mac normally again.
4. That's strange. Have you installed newest Intel X3100 kexts from OSX Extractor? Also, what browser you use?
I watch some videos in Safari, Firefox and Chrome. In my opinion best playback was in Firefox with video set at 480p/720p. Safari also had good playback but only in 480p as i remember.
I was able to play some older games because they do not need supermassive and complicated instructions.
And I was pretty suprised when I was able to edit photos and draw in Photoshop CS4 without any problems.
Editing videos and rendering in Final Cut Express was also possible, takes a little longer than for ex. on 10.6.3 but it's working. Thanks OSX Hackers! Hope that you will develop GMA 950/X3100 kexts to perfection! Also waiting for repairs to MCPF 2.0.1 because i want to upgrade my stock Lion to 10.8 (because of perfectly working kexts and everything I think this is good to move base system one up :D)
[doublepost=1473291475][/doublepost]Not resolved yet.

Everything working fine with 10.10. Then I decided to update to 10.10.5.

Run os X hackers recovery then update, which opens app store automatically. I chose ONLY the update to 10.10.5, it asks to reboot, did it. Crossed circle.
Boot with OPTION button, two options. Macbook hd and macbook hd recovery. Chose recovery, a blink of OS X HACKERS shows up but then crossed circle.
That's it. I'm stuck there.

.

The Recovery is used only IF you cant boot your device. If you update it (the recovery in software update) and restart, you wont notice. But you should patch it just in case you need to use it in the future.

To update to 10.10.5 you should run the Software Update Patched.pkg. Cant remember if it was before or after. Do it both just in case. You can even run the patcher pkg before restarting.

That's what I did. Installed both patches, recovery and software update. Then installed the 10.10.5 update. (didn't install the recovery update on app store). Got stuck on boot after pressing OPTION key.

---xx---

But then I plugged my external HD where I have os x Lion installed and booted again (option key pressed). Chose the recovery hd (not the main hd or the eternal hd with Lion) and the rehack tool appeared Clicked and when everything done, after booting, same problem of the other amigo, keyboard or nouse not working, even usb ones.

You don't need to press OPTION to boot. If you have patched the software update, you can boot normally.

Well, I'm still stuck on updating to Yosemite 10.10.5. Back to 10.10 and staying.

For the bright issue I'm using the app Shady, which is used to reduce brightness below minimum on regular macs. It is working for me, now I don't have that maximum brightness all the time.

Hey everybody,

I'm another person stuck at the graphics and sound problem and I can't figure out how to fix the problem. I'm on a 2006 MacBook Pro (A1211), ATI X1600 graphics. I'm running a fresh copy of 10.10.5 from Lion. I've been searching through the post but I can't figure out how to get the Yosemite to see the full 128MB of graphics instead of 5MB, as well as how to get sound. I tried using the Kext Utility, and can't figure out what kext files I'm supposed to put into it, or where I'm supposed to get them, though I do understand how to use the Kext Utility. I've been to Post 458 mentioned in the description for the graphics, but it didn't work.

I tried the latest Extractor from OS X Hackers, and during the install, the checkbox for Yosemite is greyed out and I can't select it. I can only select the basic install and the Open GL beta. If I continue with the install, it installs the software and the folder with all the utilities, and at the end of the install, Safari opens with a dead link from a tmp folder. Also, some of the links are dead, and the YosemitePatchFiles.zip is corrupted for me. I don't know if I'm even supposed to be using Extractor or not.

What am I doing wrong and is getting my graphics and sound set up possible? I feel like I'm so close to getting this but can't seem to figure out these issues!

Edit 1: I got display working! I didn't know that the 'sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1"' code was supposed to be done via CMD-S at boot, I was putting it in terminal. Display is great! Now for audio...

Edit 2: Found different directions I missed when going through the thread. After rebooting from the display kexts from Edit 1, I used the audio kext found in an earlier post with Kext Utility, installed the kext, restarted normally and now I have audio too!

Edit 3: I saw that it was a bad idea, tried it anyway, and installed updates from App Store. This broke display kexts making them unrepairable, and I have to re-install Yosemite as I'm back to 5MB of graphics and no sound. At least I know how to get everything to work this time lol.

Edit 4: When I'm installing, I make two partitions. A small one for a fresh-from-DVD 10.6.0 update, which I update to 10.6.8, then to 10.7 to handle MacPostFactor. The other, larger partition is for Yosemite. Right after Edit 3, I reinstalled 10.6.0, updated to 10.6.8 and had an error. It restarted, re-downloaded, restarted, and I was stuck with a blue desktop screen and an unusable OS. Until this morning, I'd have an occasional kernel panic during the MacPostFactor setup, but now my 10.6 disc install is failing every time now. I don't know why it's happening, so I've actually gone back to 10.4 to at least try and get a usable OS to update. The DVD is in good condition and the SSD is a week old.

Edit 5: After almost six hours of install issues for something that should theoretically take 1h 45m, I got back to 10.10 but now the kexts install isn't working (5MB and no sound). I got a bootable 10.7 disc so that will save time in the future if I have to start from scratch again. For now, at least I can re-install 10.10 as a clean install for 30 minutes instead of going back to the beginning again.

Edit 6: Finally back to a normal, functioning 10.10.

No solution for now for these issues.
Meanwhile, for these brightness issues you can use the app called Shady. It lowers the brightness below minimum on regular Macs, And worked for me here.
For the sleep issues, nothing. Turn off or always on. Use No Sleep app always on.

Hey guys. I messed up some of the links when I redone the site and backend servers.
Please go the the original domain to download and install Extractor and MacPostFactor.

But what about the Skip AD issue? Seems to be broken for several people. Gets to the point waiting on you to skip ad. Click skip ad and the page goes white and nothing happens. Thanks! Happens on OS X 10.7.5 on a Early 2008 Macbook.

Hi
how do i install "OpenGL Beta Mod zip" from "OS X hackers path file" ??
I installed kext with kext utility before but the openGL how do that
thanks for all

I've been stuck on the same issue. I've tried moving it in Finder and via Terminal - both methods don't work. The former just lacks the proper permissions, and the latter could temporarily brick your Macbook (voice of experience - I tried both). If you delete the current .framework files for your system, your Macbook will be unable to open new applications windows. When you reboot, it won't boot OS X properly - you'll need a complete reinstall. I always have a backup ready, but still - quite excruciating when you can't move a framework file. I wonder if Xcode can do anything about it...

EDIT :: Found an installer for the OpenGL Mod (Beta) on a GitHub mirror of MPF's website, from a few months ago. I'm testing it out tonight, and will post my results here tomorrow. As always, I have a backup ready...

Any issues in Mac mini "Core Duo" 1.83?
Is Yosemite usable in that machine?
Unfortunately, your MacMini have Core Duo CPU, which is 32bit only. OSX Lion and above minimal requirement is Core 2 Duo. So there is no option to force OSX Lion or any next OSX to work on Core Duo. Last version working with Core Duo CPU was Snow Leopard 10.6.8. BUT! There are some tutorials how to UPGRADE CPU from Core Duo to Core 2 Duo in those Mini's. Just google it, a lot of people done it before. As I see now, upgrade process is not that hard in overall, and for example C2D T7600 that will work with your Mac Mini is quite cheap today.
Cheers :D

When i try to install Yosemite using MacPostFactor I get stuck at the page where it ask you to skip the ad, well i click skip ad it it doesn't proceed with the installation sometimes it gives me some other kind of garbage ad as well as other times just gives me a white box where the ad use to be. Did anyone get past this I've been trying to get past this for weeks and no one has solved this issue on google. any help would be appreciated. I've tried right clicking and reload and it'll either do nothing or just go back to that ad. I HATE ADS! WHY DO WE HAVE ADS this is the 2016
